They don’t seem to be designed to assess lower-division general education courses. The level of proficiency expected is more appropriate for a senior level capstone or intensive project based course. However, the Committee understands the necessity of assessing general education for accreditation purposes and hopes this method will be suitable for the necessary documentation. The map designed by Chair DeBoer will be sent to Associate Provost Walker-Andrews for consideration. The Global Leadership Initiative Courses appended below were approved. Members commented that many of the courses did not seem introductory and foundational, or suitable for 100 Level, and some of the content may overlap with other courses such as ANTI 103H Food and Culture for example or the proposed PSCI 227 Issues in Global Health. Perhaps there may be current offerings appropriate for the Global Leadership Initiative. The Science courses were approved via email correspondence due to the lack of time in the meeting. The Global Strategy for Global Business Course was not approved as an ethics course. The Department Chair will be encouraged to reference the current Business Ethics course to understand what is required. Students are mostly interested in general education courses that also meet major requirements or meet more than one general education group. Good and Welfare The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 PM.
