Ex-Officio Members Present: E. Johnson
Members absent: E. Adams, J. Luckowski, J. Rabinovitch D. Simpson
The minutes from 10/19/11 were amended and approved.
Communication:

Professor Susan Caro from the Mansfield Library was welcomed to the committee. She will
be taking Professor Dazey’s place.
Business Items:

The “E” attribute has been removed from the GLI course BADM 191. The instructor has
submitted a revised syllabus that includes reading assignments in “Business Ethics.”
However, the subcommittee still is not convinced that the course meets the criteria. Chair
DeBoer will contact the subcommittee members in attempt to understand their position
considering the instructor is somewhat offended. There is concern that the subcommittee is
being too harsh. It was asked whether there was a precedent for the parent committee to
override the subcommittee. There were similar sentiments expressed in 2008 when all the
general education courses were reviewed. Camie will provide Chair Deboer with the
background documentation.

The following actions were taken on the remaining general education courses. Chair Deboer
will follow-up with MCLL, EVST and Social Work.
