Adult Day Care Services is a daytime community program providing supportive health and social services to
frail adults (18 & older). A holistic approach to client activities helps to maintain their maximum level of
independence, support their physical and mental functioning, and provide respite to family and other
caregivers.
Volunteers assist with age and limitation appropriate exercises, crafts, games, songs, hand/foot care, reading
aloud, walking, and mealtimes.

Alexander Youth Network is North Carolina’s leading provider of children’s behavioral healthcare. We provide a
comprehensive array of services developed to treat children with, or at risk for, serious emotional disturbance.
Our services include day treatment, outpatient therapy, psychiatric residential treatment, diverse array of
therapeutic family homes, community-based services, a shelter for children in crisis, and mentoring for children
involved with the juvenile justice system. Alexander serves more than 1,000 children each year from nearly
three quarters of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
Volunteers are needed to serve in a variety of capacities: special events, tutors, volunteer groups to leads

All American Athletes (AAA) mission is to enable all students, regardless of disability, to participate in
extracurricular sports activities. AAA provides an environment where kids can learn social skills, selfconfidence, and motor skills all while having fun! AAA insures maximum participation regardless of skill or
ability levels. AAA is all about breaking barriers, developing independence, fostering friendships and sharing
Christ’s love through a recreational sports league. AAA consists of a Fall, Winter, and Spring League that is
held on Sunday afternoons. AAA is a 5-week commitment each season for approximately 1.5 hours each
week.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of York County’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us
most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Volunteers assist with PowerHour, after-school homework assistance, as well as programs in the areas of
Character & Leadership Development; Health & Life Skills; The Arts; Sports, Fitness & Recreation and
Education & Career Development. Volunteers are needed to mentor teens, assist in sporting events, and serve
as coaches and referees.
There are 5 sites: Northside (elementary site), Fort Mill (elementary site), Rock Hill Teen Center, Catawba
Teen Center, and Clover Teen Center. The hours for the elementary sites operate 2:30 pm- 6 pm. The teen
sites 3:30 pm- 8:00 pm; Clover is 3:00 pm- 7:30 pm.
Internships are available for Winthrop University students.

Affinity Health Center offers a variety of services, medical, dental, nutrition, mental health, Case management

The Central Child Development Center and its satellite campus at the Applied Technology Center serve over
300 4-year olds who exhibit a need in the school district. It is a public school with certified teachers that offers
morning sessions at 7:30-10:15 and afternoon sessions at 11:20-2:05.
Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and tutors to read to students and participate in activities.
Volunteers must be approved by the school district before beginning any volunteer experience. Volunteer
applications are available on the school district website and it takes about 2 weeks for the process (including a
background check) to be completed. Students need to contact Missy Pusey after they have been approved as
volunteers and at least a week before they would like to volunteer.

The Children’s Attention Home provides emergency residential and supportive service to children who have
been victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment, ages birth to 21.
Volunteers are needed to serve as tutors, homework helpers, classroom buddies. All talents and skills are

The Department of Juvenile Justice is responsible for providing rehabilitation and custodial care for the state’s
juveniles who are on probation, incarcerated, or on parole for a criminal or status offense.
Volunteers are needed to serve at the TASC (Teen After School Center) and as auxiliary probation officers.
Auxiliary probation officers must be 21. Volunteers must undergo an extensive criminal background check and
DSS check (no fee is involved; DJJ will submit information for you).

Door of Hope 4 Teens is a nonprofit organization or headquarters are in Fort Mill South Carolina. We help
teens and young adults who are struggling with self-harm also known as cutting. Teens reach us via text
messaging, email, phone calls and local support group here in Fort mill.
This is the criteria that is needed for our volunteers: Must be 22 years old and over; studying slats for majoring
in mental health; youth ministry, and/or psychology; have a passion to work with teens and young adults who
are struggling with addictive behaviors; be able to meet monthly and Fort mill location for workshops/training;
and have access to cell phone and personal laptop

The Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen exists to serve a free, hot meal in safe pleasant surroundings to whoever
comes through the door. Everyone is welcome and no questions are asked.
Volunteers are needed from 10:30 am to 1:00pm Monday-Saturday. Volunteers need to be scheduled a
minimum of one month ahead. Volunteers are needed to help with meal preparation, serving and clean-up. All

Family Promise of York County is a non-profit organization that provides meals, shelter, support services, and
life skills training for homeless parents and children through coordination with area churches, social service
agencies, and volunteers. The vision of Family Promise of York County is that parents and children leave the
program better equipped to meet life’s challenges. The goal of Family Promise of York County is that families
resume and maintain self-sufficiency and independence in permanent housing.
Family Promise of York County Day Center needs volunteers to provide transportation to agencies,
employment, medical appointments, etc. Volunteers can also baby-sit, provide companionship, assist in filling
out forms, writing resumes, job searches, provide children’s activities, tutor, supervise office when staff is out,
supervise and plan weekend activities, cover early mornings, run errands, assist with maintenance repairs, and
more.

A volunteer run non-profit organization of concerned citizens who address the immediate needs of other
citizens within the town of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Our major emphasis is helping families who find
themselves in need of basic necessities. If we cannot provide adequate assistance, we try to provide counsel,
or guidance to other agencies that can help. We’re open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9AM to
12PM.

Keystone provides treatment, intervention, and prevention services related to alcohol, tobacco, and other
drugs. They offer educational programs, individual counseling, and structured groups for adolescents and DUI
offenders, as well as in-patient detoxification. The agency also provides intensive outpatient treatment for
those who work during the day and for addicted women and their children.
Volunteers are needed to help with Health Fairs, event planning and similar activities throughout the year. In
addition, volunteers are needed for the “Summer Safety Fun Festival” in early May and the “Chocolate
Festival” in November.

Life Builders ESL Ministry was organized in 2000 in order to help Internationals, by teaching English to those

Pilgrim’s Inn provides supportive services which empower others towards self-sufficiency. This is
accomplished through two (2) residential programs for homeless women and children (a 90-day shelter for
single women, and, families of women with children under the age of 18; and, transitional apartments for
women and children who have a mental health diagnosis as well as are chronically homeless), an emergency
assistance food pantry, and affordable child care for pre-school aged children.
Volunteers are needed to assist in each of these programs in addition to general opportunities which include
the reception areas (main entrance and child care center), tutoring for adults and children, grounds
maintenance and special events/activities.

Safe Passage is a nonprofit that advocates for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and
child abuse in York, Chester, Lancaster and Union counties. We offer services such as emergency housing for
domestic violence victims and their children, crisis counseling, legal advocacy, residential and non-residential
goal-focused advocacy, life skills classes and support groups. We also have a 24/7 crisis hotline and a
community outreach program.
Volunteers can work in any department that meets their interest, skills and availability. Volunteer roles include
administrative support, crisis call advocate, child advocate, childcare, life skills and activities facilitator, legal
advocate, residential advocate (shelter support) and community outreach support. All volunteers will receive 25
hours of training and job shadowing.

York County Christian Women's Job Corps began in 1996 as one of five pilot sites for Christian Woman's Job
Corps, a ministry of WMU, in the nation. This ministry was created to address the spiritual, emotional and
practical needs of economically disadvantaged women and children in York County. Its purpose is to provide a
Christian context in which women are equipped for life and employment, in an environment where women help
women. That purpose is fulfilled when a woman has the skills to be self-sufficient within her culture.

The York County Council on Aging assists senior citizens in remaining independent by providing services to
further that goal, including congregate meals in our 7 senior centers, home delivered meals, homemaker
services, transportation and housing. Our senior centers are located in Rock Hill, York, Fort Mill and Clover in
York County; and Edgemoor, Chester and Great Falls in Chester County. There are volunteer opportunities at
each center.
Volunteers are needed to deliver lunches Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30 am for
about an hour. We also invite volunteers to visit any one of our senior centers to deliver meals, call Bingo, lead
a singing session, put on a performance, help with crafts, coordinate Wii bowling or other games, or to speak
on any topic that might be of interest to our seniors.

Clemson Extension agents with primary Youth Development responsibilities work closely with state extension
specialists and researchers located on campus and at the various research and education centers located
across the state. They provide expertise in topics including animal agriculture and veterinary science, natural
resources and the environment, gardening, leadership and citizenship, personal growth and development, and
science.

Formerly the Teen Health Center, The Youth Source serves those ages 11-18 in York County. Every child
deserves a bright future and the tools to help them get there. That’s what The Youth Source offers. Whether
benefitting from programs, friendship and guidance, or from their own efforts to assist other young people, the
youth of York County find the tools they need at The Youth Source to grow into healthy adults of good
character and strong personal skills. Investing in our youth & families by giving them V.O.I.C.E.S. to make
positive decisions through Volunteering, Outreach, Information, Character Development, Education, and
Support.
Volunteers contribute in many ways. Here are just a few: Create interactive education games and activities,
research current education facts and statistics, plan and/or supervise events and activities, promote The Youth
Source at community events, become a mentor, and help with or host a fund-raiser in The Youth Source’s
name.
