Polysomnography
Certificate Program
COD is offering a new
Polysomnography
certificate program this fall
that prepares students to
work in the rapidly growing
field of sleep studies.
Recently approved by the ICCB, the 24-credit hour program
will help students gain the skills to become polysomnographic
technicians in sleep laboratories. Graduates are eligible to sit
for the National Board for Registered Polysomnographic
Technician’s exam. “This field is booming right now,” said
Charles Vanderwarf, Associate Professor of Respiratory
Care. “Although sleep labs have been around for a long time, a
growing number of people are experiencing sleeping disorders,
which has resulted in a greater need for accredited facilities
with trained technicians.” Read More

College of DuPage welcomes Tom Brady as the new
Associate Dean/Director of Homeland Security Training at
COD. The Plainfield resident brings more than 20 years of
experience as a federal law enforcement investigator to
this new position. Brady will oversee the state-of-the-art
Homeland Security Education Center, which houses the
College’s Criminal Justice and Fire Science programs as
well as the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy. He will
also work with the College’s plans to develop the
proposed Midwest Regional Training Center. “Right now,
there is no one place where multiple agencies can train
together for a critical incident. I’ve been through critical
incidents, and when it happens, the initial atmosphere is
one of chaos…there’s a definite need for a facility like the
Midwest Regional Training Center.” Read More
