Polysomnography Certificate Program COD is offering a new Polysomnography certificate program this fall that prepares students to work in the rapidly growing field of sleep studies. Recently approved by the ICCB, the 24-credit hour program will help students gain the skills to become polysomnographic technicians in sleep laboratories. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Board for Registered Polysomnographic Technician’s exam. “This field is booming right now,” said Charles Vanderwarf, Associate Professor of Respiratory Care. “Although sleep labs have been around for a long time, a growing number of people are experiencing sleeping disorders, which has resulted in a greater need for accredited facilities with trained technicians.” Read More Dan Krakora, Fire Science Coordinator, was recently named one of the top 14 Fire Science instructors in the Midwest by Firescience.org. Krakora was selected for his excellence in the classroom, on campus and in the community. College of DuPage welcomes Tom Brady as the new Associate Dean/Director of Homeland Security Training at COD. The Plainfield resident brings more than 20 years of experience as a federal law enforcement investigator to this new position. Brady will oversee the state-of-the-art Homeland Security Education Center, which houses the College’s Criminal Justice and Fire Science programs as well as the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy. He will also work with the College’s plans to develop the proposed Midwest Regional Training Center. “Right now, there is no one place where multiple agencies can train together for a critical incident.
