New Dean of Adjunct Faculty Support
Mark Collins adds another first to his career as the new
assistant dean of Adjunct Faculty Support at College of
DuPage. The Oswego resident is the first of two assistant
deans newly hired to work with the more than 1,200 adjunct
faculty members at COD. “College of DuPage is a big
community college," Collins said. "I look forward to this
position, which provides ample room to grow and develop
programs that represent forward-thinking.” Before coming to
COD, Collins worked for nearly 10 years for McDonald's as
the Master Trainer, a Hamburger University professor and
regional training consultant. He has also taught at
Benedictine University, National-Louis University and
Community College of Allegheny County. His academic
background includes working in advising, financial aid and

COD Signs 3+1 Agreement with Roosevelt
College of DuPage and Roosevelt University on Monday
signed four new 3+1 agreements that enable students in
COD's Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management,
Culinary Arts, and Meeting & Events Planning degree
programs to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in
Hospitality and Tourism Management from Roosevelt. The
students will earn their entire degree on the COD Glen

KUDOS to…Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Glenda Gallisath, a recent guest speaker at the 2011 Illinois
ACT State Organization Conference. She, along with Ray
Kennelly, senior vice president of Enrollment Management
and Strategic Initiatives at Lewis University, presented
information on the development and implementation of
innovative 3+1 agreements as a way to increase college-level
completions.
More KUDOS to…College of DuPage’s Police Department
for its accolade of managing the eighth-safest campus in
Illinois. Based on a study by www.stateuniversity.com, the
College ranked 58th nationally from a list that included both
urban and suburban four-year institutions. COD earned an
overall safety rating of 96.54 in this study. Thank you, COD

Free Tax Assistance
COD is offering free assistance
with electronic preparation of
state and federal tax returns in
February and March. Students
in Accounting 2200, under
instructor supervision, will help
students, staff and community
members prepare forms 1040 IL, 1040 and Schedules A-B.
Free assistance is also provided for Schedule C-EZ and small
schedule Ds (three items or less). Participants must bring tax
information and the previous year's return. Sessions are from
9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 18 and 25 and March 3, 10,
17, 24 and 31 in Building K, Room 129. More info: ext. 3400.

Global Education Funding Initiative
The Global Education Advisory Committee
is pleased to announce “Funding Global
Education Initiatives: On-Campus and
Abroad,” designed to enhance the global
education of our campus community
through on-campus activities and
international opportunities. Application deadline for FY 20122013 will be announced later this year; however, funding is
available for the remainder of this fiscal year. The committee is
accepting and reviewing applications Feb. 10 and March 16.
Please see the attached application for more details. A total of
$7,000 has been budgeted for “Funding Global Education
Initiatives” for the rest of FY 2011-2012. We encourage you to
keep that in mind when submitting your application. Questions?

The Prairie Light Review is seeking submissions of written and
visual art for its Spring 2012 issue from students, employees and
community members. The deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 8.
