What are some reading strategies you
can use when you are stuck on a word?
What does it mean to reread?
Tell me the parts of a story. (beginning,
middle, end) Tell me how you retell a
story. Include some sequence words ~
First, next, then, finally, etc.
What are you writing about right now in
writing workshop?
How can you make your ending exciting?
Tell me about your apple experiment.
Did the apple change throughout the
week? How?
Who is John Chapman? What do you
know about him?
What number is 2 more than 23? 2 less
than 23? 10 more than 23? 10 less than
23?
How can you tell if a number is even or
odd? Explain your thinking.
Who is Mr. Phillips? What did he talk
about when he visited your class?
(courage)
FYI:
Word Study
Your child is bringing home the results of the Kindergarten
High Frequency word test. If your child still has some
words to practice, please see the activities on the
attached letter. It explains activities to help that we will
be doing here at school too. If your child does not have
words to practice on the list, please start looking at the
first grade words I sent home also. I will be looking that
your child spells the mastered words correctly in his/her
daily writing.
