Presidential Search
The College of DuPage Board of Trustees invites nominations and applications for the
position of President of the College of DuPage.
Established in 1967, the College of DuPage is the second largest provider of
undergraduate education in the State of Illinois. More than 28,000 students are enrolled
in a broad range of college transfer and career programs. The College maintains
campuses in Glen Ellyn, Addison, Carol Stream, Lisle, Naperville and Westmont.
Courses are offered at more than 85 sites throughout the Community College District.
The College is recognized for its innovative programs as well as extensive business
outreach and community outreach efforts. The Board seeks a President who will help
fulfill the mission of the College to be a center for excellence in teaching, learning, and
cultural experiences by providing accessible, affordable, and comprehensive education.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an inspiring and innovative leader to build on the
successes of this energetic and supportive District. Preferred applicants will possess the
following attributes:
Technical Skills
• Advanced degree, doctorate preferred, evidence of proven success as a leader
with a full understanding of the multiple roles of a community college.
• Experience managing a large and complex organization, whether in academic or
non-traditional settings.
• Proven ability to manage the diverse issues of financial affairs, strategic planning,
human resources, curriculum development, collective bargaining and
community/legislative relations.
• Strong ethics, financially prudent, able to provide strong value to students while
maintaining vigilance in overseeing extensive taxpayer investment in the College.
• Extensive experience in teaching and understanding of the classroom teaching
experience of a diverse student body.
• Committed to the professional development of faculty and staff.
Managerial Skills
• Commitment to academic excellence, transparency and openness, and
inclusiveness in decision making.
• Strong ability to understand the interests of the College’s many stakeholders,
especially faculty, adjunct faculty, classified and administrative staff.
• A down-to-earth yet polished representative of the College on local, state,
national and international platforms, including positive relations with the public,
the media, and all levels of government.
• Proven success in reporting to and working with a governing board, including the
ability to develop healthy working relationships in engaging board members.
• Experience in bringing together multiple constituencies, enlisting their support,
serving to heal torn relationships, building a sense of the common good, and
managing respectful disagreement.
• A strong visionary who will inspire and motivate others to meet the College’s
mission.

positions.
