GENERAL INFORMATION
TOLLES CAREER & TECHNICAL CENTER'S ADULT PROGRAMS OPERATE
UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE OHIO BOARD OF REGENTS.
VISION STATEMENT: The Tolles Career & Technical Center Adult Workforce
Education Program shall ensure that all enrolled learners are properly
prepared to achieve successful employment in the global workforce
marketplace.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Tolles Career & Technical Center Adult
Workforce Education Program shall proactively provide academically
challenging and responsive educational programs in partnership with the
greater Tolles community; consistently provide the skills learners need to
access resources necessary for them to complete educational programs and
successfully pursue career pathways; and continually ensure that students
and staff meet or exceed their potential every day.
ADMISSION: Admission for full-time classes is open to anyone 16 years of
age or older not enrolled in a full-time high school program.
TUITION: Course fees are established to cover the operating expenses of the
Tolles Career & Technical Center Adult Workforce Education programs which
are to be self-supporting. Textbooks and supplies are included in tuition
unless otherwise noted and are non-refundable.
PAYMENTS: Full payment is required at the time of registration in order to
reserve a spot in class.
INSTRUCTORS: The Ohio Department of Education certifies all instructors.
CERTIFICATES: A Tolles Career & Technical Center certificate of completion
will be awarded to each student who attends 90 percent of scheduled
classes and satisfactorily completes the required work.

REFUND POLICY:
There are NO refunds on any class of less than 300 hours.
Students dismissed from the school or withdrawing at the school’s request
for non-academic reasons are NOT entitled to a refund. Fees, books and
supplies are non-refundable items. Persons requesting a refund for
extenuating circumstances must ask for the request in writing to the Adult
Education Director. If a refund is issued, a 25% administrative fee will be
charged.
If the student needs to cancel registration for the class and does so
in writing three (3) full business days before the start date of the
class, a full refund will be given, less a $20 processing fee. If the
student cancels registration in writing for a class LESS than 3 business days
before the start date of the class, but before the actual start of the class, a
credit voucher will be issued (less the $20 processing fee). This credit
voucher may be redeemed toward tuition in any other class. It is not
transferable and is valid for one year. No cash refund will be given.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note: You should not consider this brochure to be a contract with
Tolles Career & Technical Center. We reserve the right to cancel or
change courses as necessary.
You WILL NOT be notified if your course will start on the day and time listed
in this catalog. YOU WILL be notified if a schedule change occurs for your
class choice, or in the event the program is canceled and will not operate.
Tolles Career & Technical Center reserves the right to cancel classes due to
low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If Tolles cancels a class,
full refunds will be given.
School Closing: (Due to inclement weather) The adult night
classes will meet as scheduled unless road conditions become
hazardous. In such case a decision will be made by 3:00 p.m.

Registration and Payment: Registration and payment are
expected two weeks prior to the start of class. Classes may be
canceled due to low enrollment.
CLASS WITHDRAWALS
If the student fails to attend the class and does not cancel his/her registration
prior to the start of the class, no refund or credit voucher will be given.

Pharmacy Technician

This comprehensive program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB
exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy
calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture
and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose
conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing
& reimbursement.
This comprehensive Physical Therapy Aide Program prepares students for the growing field of Physical Therapy. The P. T. Aide is generally responsible
for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy. These workers assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility,
relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.
Dental Assisting

The Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions. This course covers the
following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal
aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment; introduction
to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and
other areas.
In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a formal Dental Hygienist program.
Additionally, this course is designed to prepare students to sit for the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Examination (RHS). The cost of this exam
is $175 and is NOT included as part of the cost of this program. The DANB exam is administered at Pearson Vue Testing Centers.

Become a full-time Emergency Medical Technician—Basic (EMT-B) in Ohio. This course meets and/or exceeds the state’s certification requirements for
a professional EMT-B in Ohio. The program follows the state and national curriculum for EMT-B. Students can expect a challenging classroom
curriculum combined with practical hands-on training. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the State of Ohio and
the National Registry written and practical exam. Test fee is $75. Included in the class are ten hours of practical “hands-on” experience with local
hospitals and emergency medical
LCCC Partnership
Tolles relies on not only its own resources and staff, but collaborates with other educational institutions to provide relevant courses of study. Tolles Career &
Technical Center has partnered with Lorain County Community College to deliver college courses and credit-bearing certificates. Courses are instructed by qualified
LCCC faculty members at Tolles with a convenient location that offers a quality learning environment.
Become a full-time firefighter in Ohio. This course meets and/or exceeds the State certification requirements for a professional firefighter in Ohio. The
program follows the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines for professional firefighter NFPA 1001. Students can expect a challenging
classroom curriculum, combined with practical hands-on training. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for Ohio’s
professional firefighter written exam. All students must be able to provide protective gear and SCBA. Rentals are available.
Supply Chain Management Certificate

Whenever a product needs to be transported the Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Logistics Industry sector is involved. SCM is the work connected to a wide
range of functions related to the moving of materials from a supplier to a customer in a global economy. It includes collaboration with all partners across businesses
as well as with customers and is essential to the success of many sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, agribusiness, energy, biomedical, hospitality and
transportation and logistics. It also plays a role in military operations, responses to disasters and International relief efforts.
This course will provide a comprehensive classroom and clinical education in phlebotomy. Participants will learn the techniques, skills and equipment
used for the purpose of safe and effective blood collection. The students will be expected to demonstrate the ability to obtain patients’ blood specimens
by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques on each other. This course includes anatomy and physiology and medical terminology. Following
successful completion, students will be able to sit for the NCCT National Phlebotomy Technician exam for an additional $90.
Students must have a Hepatitis B immunization and two-step Mantoux (TB) screening prior to beginning the class.
The Supply Chain Management short-term certificate is a 25 credit hour program. Certificate courses required are embedded in Tolles’/LCCC’s Supply Chain

Leisure Learning Coursework
Medical Assisting
The Medical Assisting Certificate program provides students with an orientation to the medical field as an assistant to the physician. Students are introduced to
procedures in medical examination, use of laboratory equipment, office business procedures, and medical terminology. Upon completion of the accredited
program, students are eligible to take the certification examination of the American Association of Medical Assistants to become a CMA (certified medical assistant)
and the American Medical Technologists to award the RMA (registered medical assistant.)
The 35 credit hour Medical Assisting Certificate program not only prepares students to enter this high-demand field, but also provides students with the ability to

Welding

Learn the basic techniques of shielded metal arc welding (stick), MIG & TIG, as well as burning and cutting techniques. Class is mostly a hands-on
experience. Students must supply their own welding helmet, gloves, leather boots, safety glasses, chipper hammer, 10” vice grips, and a stainless
steel wire brush. (Estimated cost for supplies, $73.00). Class is limited to 10 students.
All Breed Dog Grooming W
Learn to use the different tools and equipment necessary to make your dog look like a champion, whether your pet is pedigreed, or a mixed breed.
Problem or aggressive dogs are not permitted in class. Students will need to furnish their own tools based on a list that will be provided in class. The
first class session is an orientation and introduction without dogs. Class is limited to 5 students.
**All applicants in both EMT-B and Firefighter I and II Programs must be able to complete a routine physical exam. Auto insurance and driver’s license are
required for this program. There is a $45 non-refundable application fee. Applicants must complete an application before admission and meet admission
requirements. Students are required to attend an orientation session prior to the first night of class. Textbooks are included in cost of the class. Shirts are $15.

ABLE Classes
Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) enables
adults to improve basic reading, writing and
math skills. The program also offers GED exam
preparation. ABLE classes are FREE and are
offered in both the morning and evening, but
students must attend an orientation session
before participating in class. Contact Tolles at

program, and enroll in an orientation session.
ESOL Classes
English for Speakers of Other Languages
(ESOL) helps non-native English speakers 18
or older improve reading, writing, listening and
speaking skills in English. ESOL classes are
held at the Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run
Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026. ESOL classes are
offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and
are FREE, but students must attend an
orientation session to enroll in class. Contact

GED Exams
Tolles is an official GED Test Center. In order to
take the GED exam, go to https://ged.com/
