GUIDELINES FOR WASHINGTON, D.C. ON THE BUS: • Seats on the bus - Girls sit with girls and boys sit with boys on the bus • Choose your seat and stay there for the day • Always pick up the trash on the bus • Due to quite a few food allergies, our DC Buses are Peanut Free, please do not bring these items with you on to the buses • Food/drink may be brought on the bus, but NO DAIRY products – they smell when spilled! • NO ENERGY DRINKS!!! • NO headsets/cell phones/IPods while the tour guide is speaking - be respectful!! • Listen to your tour guides and follow their instructions • You may bring DVDs to watch on the bus – but they must be rated PG – put your name on your DVDs • Bring a blanket and pillow for the long bus rides • Bathrooms on the bus are for real emergencies, we will stop for restroom breaks WHEN TOURING: • NEVER GO ANYWHERE ALONE! • Always travel with a “buddy” • Respect the signs for “no gum” • Let your chaperone know of any problems • “Mind your manners” and be respectful! You represent Dublin City Schools • NO headsets/cell phones/IPods while the tour guide is speaking - be respectful!! • Listen to your tour guides and follow their instructions. • Use the restrooms when you can, and wash your hands often as we tour to ward of germs • ALWAYS WEAR YOUR ID BADGE ON THE LANYARD CLOTHING, SHOES AND OTHER ITEMS: • Wear proper clothing - school dress codes must be followed, dress comfortably, wear comfortable shoes – we will be walking A LOT! NO FLIP FLOPS!!! • Bring appropriate outerwear – check the weather – jacket, umbrella, rain coat, extra shoes • Remove hats in all buildings and while eating • Dinner at MaGill’s is NOT semi-formal – regular dress code applies – casual is fine • Comfy clothes for the long ride home at night. Hopefully you’ll sleep! • Don’t forget your personal hygiene items – toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant etc. • Please limit yourself to TWO BAGS = 1 suitcase and 1 duffel bag/backpack for the bus OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER: • Avoid street people asking for money • Make wise purchases (is it school appropriate? If not, it will be taken and returned to your parent) • Have your own personal spending money secured in your pocket, wallet, or purse • DO NOT open your hotel door after it has been taped • YOU are responsible for your own belongings – if you decide to bring it along, it’s up to YOU to make sure it doesn’t get lost! • “Abuse it, Lose it” (room phones, elevators, cell phones, IPods, etc.) • Bring batteries for your cameras/ chargers for your phones etc. • Remember that there is very little free time – just look at the itinerary – there’s a lot to see!! • When it doubt, ask a chaperone! • ALWAYS LISTEN TO INSTRUCTIONS FROM TOUR GUIDES, TEACHERS, BUS DRIVERS HAVE A GREAT ATTITUDE AND HAVE FUN!!!!
