Integrating human skeletal biology and archaeology, Professor McKeown’s studies of colonial and
prehistoric burials across North America seek to understand life and death in past societies, and
her research on early 17th-century burials at Jamestown, Virginia is currently part of a Smithsonian
exhibit. Professor McKeown also serves as a forensic anthropologist in Montana, assisting the State
Crime Lab and law enforcement with the recovery and
analysis of human skeletal remains.
