PTO Walk-a-thon
Where EVERY student will be “Walkin’ on Sunshine” October 7, 2015
Wyandot is a wonderful school with a terrific PTO, incredible teachers and staff and amazing
families. Over the years, we have been fortunate through our fundraising efforts to provide
many extra experiences to our children. The Walk-a-thon will continue to support our
children’s classrooms, assemblies, literacy libraries and more. It replaces large, timeconsuming fundraising sales.
What is a Walk-a-thon?
-The Walk-a-thon is the ONLY PTO fundraising event for the entire year.
- Students and staff will walk around the outdoor track with fun music playing during their recess on Oct. 7.
- EVERY student will receive water and a special participation treat after they walk.
How Does it Work?
-Students collect donations from family and friends before Oct. 7. Please DO NOT allow your child to go door
to-door. All donations are tax deductible since Wyandot Elementary holds an IRS 501(c)(3) status. Receipts
will be given for any donation of $250.00 or more. Your cancelled check will serve as your receipt for lesser
amounts. ~All checks should be made out to Wyandot Elementary PTO~ - If your family prefers not to solicit pledges for this fundraiser, please consider making a personal donation on
behalf of your child/children. *This is the only PTO fundraising effort for the year.
-Students turn in their pledge sheets WITH donations on or before Oct. 7.
What Happens After the Walk-a-thon?
-Classes will receive prizes for: (1) having 98-100% of their class turn in a donation (of any amount)
(2) the class from each grade level that raises the most money
(3) the class that raises the most money out of the entire school
-PTO will continue to provide a multitude of family and school events and provide resources and support for the
teachers and staff. Please see next page.

What Does PTO Fund?
Monies raised from last year’s walk-a-thon paid for:
•Green homework folders for every student
•World maps for 5 grade students
•Books for every classroom!
•Back-to-school classroom monetary gift (every teacher)
•Back-to-school Open House!
•Movie Nights!
•Donuts With Dad & Mornings with Mom!
•Leeds Farm
!•Mac Barnett & Steve Harpster Author & Illustrator visits
•Sunshine Committee’s purchases for teacher meals on conference nights
!•Teacher Appreciation luncheon and small tokens throughout the week
!•Allied Arts Residency program(s)!
•Assist with funds for new stage sound system
•Classroom amplification system for the school speech therapist!
•5th grade event (field trip), lunch and handprint project
•Contribution to Parents Encouraging Responsible Choices (PERC)!
•Contribution to PTO President’s Scholarship Fund
•Multi-Cultural & Field Days!
•Provide all supplies and materials for the school publishing shop
!•Support the school Safety Patrol with end of the year lunch and any new items needed
!•Support school-wide service projects
!•Pay for the 3rd Grade annual symphony field trip
•Ice machine for the clinic!
•Pallet Truck, 6ft. folding tables & scaffolding for custodians
!•2 scholarships for Wyandot Alumni graduating from Coffman!
•Assorted playground balls
•iPod shuffle for 1 grade class
•Book baskets for Kindergarten classroom
•Composter system for 2 grade
