Summer Leadership & Entrepreneurship Program (SLEP) An 18 day intensive experience focusing on the development of presentation skills, an exploration of leadership and entrepreneurship theory, and an introduction to student services provided by the University of Montana (UM). Students will receive comprehensive academic and support services, and live on the UM campus with other learners from around the world. The program will also include a weekend excursion to Glacier National Park and other sites in Western Montana, and engagement with the local campus and Missoula Montana community. PROGRAM SEQUENCE IMPORTANT DATES Arrive Missoula, MT: Wednesday, July 13 July 13th—Arrival, students are met at Missoula’s airport and taken to a residence hall at the University of Montana Excursion #1 Garnet Ghost Town: Saturday, July 16 July 14th— Program orientation, after a 3 hour orientation and lunch, students will participate in a scavenger hunt across Missoula to familiarize them with the city. Instruction (2 weeks): Week #1: July 18—22 Week #2: July 25 - 29 July 15th—1st day of instruction, English language and presentation skills in the morning, then a seminar about entrepreneurship in the afternoon. Excursion #2, Glacier Nat’l Park: July 23—24 Depart: Saturday, July 30th PROGRAM OUTCOMES AND STUDENT LIFE July 16th—Excursion to Garnett Ghost Town and Salmon Lake . When not on a weekend or evening excursion, they will dine in the University’s student cafeteria. The University’s campus has received numerous accolades of being one of the most beautiful in the U.S., and students will also have access to the modern recreation center (gymnasium and swimming pool). PER PARTICIPANT COST & ACADEMIC EMPHASIS Per participant program cost: Academic emphasis: $3,131.00 English language and presentation skills instruction: 2. Lodging at UM (17 nights) Students will receive 11 sessions of intensive English language instruction with a focus on presentation skills. On the final day of the program students will make a presentation about plans to use their new and improved entrepreneurial and leadership skills in their home communities. 3.
