The nurse aide works in the hospital, clinic, nursing home, doctor’s office, or sometimes in a private home to assist in the care of patients. Nurse aides work under the supervision of the nursing and medical staff. The job is tough and demanding. Nurse aides care for both the physical and psychological needs of their patients. THE CLASSES The HCT 101 and HCT 102 classes include both classroom and clinical training. The clinical training takes place at area hospitals and nursing homes. During the fall and spring semesters, HCT 101 and 102 classes are taught two days or evenings. There are classes each semester on either/or both the Franklin and Suffolk campuses if there are enough students interested in taking the classes and an instructor is available. Class times and locations vary during the summer semester with a condensed 10 week (over the standard 16 week course) course in which the student must be highly motivated to be successful.
