Wisconsin School Energy Manager Program Pairing Education and Energy Efficiency: A Whole-School Approach to Energy Management What is SEMP? What do you do? The Wisconsin School Energy Manager Program (SEMP) engages teachers, students, facility personnel and administration together in a data-driven education campaign supported by the sustainability goals of the school district to achieve: School faculty work closely with our team to achieve success based upon the needs of the district in two key areas: Staff and Student Engagement: Graduate-level professional development and standards-based curricula for K-12 teachers Eligibility to apply for mini-grant opportunity Guidance to implement a school-wide energysaving campaign through creation of Energy Action Plans Guidance to participate in state and federal Green Ribbon Schools program Increased awareness of school energy use Utilization of the school building as a teaching tool Adoption of energy efficient behaviors and low and no-cost operational improvements Improved energy efficiency and savings in schools School Energy Efficiency: Why join SEMP? This program offers Wisconsin schools high quality assistance at no cost related to energy efficiency and energy education; a wholeschool approach to energy management which maximizes facility operations and energy savings. The State Energy Office has decades of experience working with Performance Contractors and implementing energy efficiency projects. This method of financing and engineering assistance has resulted in significant energy savings to the state, saving taxpayer dollars. Creation of a 2015-2016 baseline of building energy consumption via EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager Evaluation of school building performance data Guidance to identify low cost and no-cost ways to save energy and lower operating expenses in your building, and help identify where capital improvements can be implemented Guidance to participate in state and utility energy efficiency programs These services are covered at no cost to the school district.
