Parent’s federal taxes (applies to students under age 24**) Copies of W-2 form(s), if anyone worked but did not file taxes Social Security Numbers and Dates of Birth Records of untaxed income (Example: Child Support, Worker’s Compensation, and Veterans Non-Education Benefits) Step 2: Login to www.fafsa.gov. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application needed for federal or state grants. You must file a new FAFSA every year. Make sure you do not go to fafsa.com, where you will be charged for filing this free application. Step 3: You will be prompted to get an FSA ID (electronic signature) during the FAFSA application. If providing parent information, one of your parents must also apply for his or her own FSA ID and s/he must use it to sign your application. Step 4: Fill out the FAFSA. The Paul D. Camp Community College school code is 009159 (for all campuses). Sign and submit your application. Step 5: Other Types of Aid: The FAFSA application is the only form you need for all grant money. We are pleased to offer fall and spring scholarships using an online application along with the FAFSA; go to www.pdc.edu/scholarships to apply. We also offer a tuition payment plan available if you do not qualify for enough free funds to pay your charges upfront. Sign up early for the best rates. Note that this option usually ends before the published tuition deadline. Keep a record of your IDs and passwords for future reference: FAFSA Password _______________ FAFSA FSA ID _______ PDCCC Student ID: ________________ PDCCC Password _______________ Email us at Pdc_financial_aid@pdc.edu Step 6: You filed the FAFSA . . . What happens next? Confirmation Page: After you file, you will receive a confirmation page, which includes your confirmation number. We recommend you print a copy. You may have it emailed to you if no printer is available. Expected Family Contribution: This is found on your confirmation page also. Based on the information provided on your FAFSA, the Department of Education calculates an Expected Family Contribution (EFC). If your EFC makes you Pell-eligible, your confirmation page will say so. You must still complete any other steps required by the College to receive the aid. Student Aid Report (SAR): You will receive a Student Aid Report by mail or by email. Review it for mistakes, and if you find any, contact us to see how best to handle the problem. If you list Paul D. Camp Community College as one of your requested schools we will receive an electronic version of the SAR as well in approximately 1 week. Email: Upon acceptance to PDCCC, you will be assigned a student email address. Begin checking it weekly, as this will be our primary means of communication with you. We cannot email you at any other email address, but you can forward this one if you prefer. Missing Information Letter: If there are outstanding items you need to complete before you are awarded, it will be noted on the SAR and the college will mail and/or email you a missing information letter. Reply promptly with the requested documents. Verification: The Department of Education selects certain applications for verification of tax and/or other information. Your school will let you know what is required via email. Awarding will not proceed until items are received and processed. Award Letter: The first award letters only will be mailed to students. Read it carefully and report any missing aid--such as outside scholarships-- to the Financial Aid Office immediately. Check your student email or the SIS frequently for updates. Loans: We are pleased to offer Direct loans at Paul D. Camp Community College. You must complete the loan application, entrance counseling and a master promissory note before being awarded funds (even if a DL offer appears on your award letter). Make sure: you have applied to the college, declared your program of study (major), taken your placement test, and signed up for classes. Recent high school graduates with a GPA of 2.5 or higher should bring a copy of their transcript to Financial Aid and inquire about scholarships. Attend all your classes the first week and continue to attend until the end of the semester. Students who withdraw early may owe money back to the College. Check with the Financial Aid Office before you withdraw to discuss potential penalties for early withdrawal. If you do not hear from our office within one month of applying, contact us!
