Volume 3, Issue 8 October 16, 2013 Upcoming Events Mission Possible: Ball State’s Student Veteran Newsletter Ball State University October 21-22– Fall Break The Shutdown October 23– Course Withdrawal Period Ends By: Emily Kirkpatrick November 27-29– Thanksgiving Break December 7– Final Exams for Saturday Classes December 9– Last Meeting Day for Classes December 10-14– Final Exams While the government may be back in business, this may only be for a short while. The same thing may happen in February and that is why the VA Office is encouraging those who haven’t filed a FAFSA, to do so. You can file your FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Filing your FAFSA may allow you to get subsidized (government pays interest while you’re in school) and unsubsidized loans (you pay the interest while in school). If you have questions about how to request and receive loan proceeds, please make an appointment with a financial aid advisor by calling 765-2855600. According to GoArmyEd.com “TA funds are still not available since Congress has not passed a funding bill. Denied TA requests for classes with start dates during the budget impasse period will not be reinstated or reimbursed. Once Congress passes the budget, only those classes with start dates after TA has been reinstated will be approved.” We encourage you to check government websites when questions arise, or call the Veterans Affairs office at 765-285-5736, or by email at OSFAVETGA@bsu.edu
