Business Items

The Social Science Curriculum items appended below were approved. Follow-up is
pending on a few forms.

Interim Associate Provost Hinman met with the Graduate School and the Provost
separately to discuss the possibility of a review of the Graduate School. The Provost
would like the Council to collaborate with the Graduate School on a scope for the
review- what would be included, what are the goals, and whether the review should
involve an internal study, external consultant, and/or a team. Hopefully there will be
funds available for a review next fiscal year. The Graduate School has started to
outline what is needed. The Council would like the Graduate School to complete a
draft scope document for discussion.

Interim IIP Director Brown has had students request to sit on the IIP admissions
review committee in order to learn the process. The Council considered the issue and
voted 7 to 4 not to allow student involvement in the admission review process.
Several committee members had this experience as graduate students; however it is
advisable to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest and sharing confidential
information.
The graduate school is in the process of revising the IIP information on the web site.
Faculty should refer students interested in the IIP to Interim Director Brown.

Drafts of the program review documents are in process of review by the
Subcommittees. The draft Wildlife Biology review will be sent to the Council to
review.
The meeting was adjourned at 12: 45 PM.
