Internship Evaluation Results: Supervisor
University Wide
Summer 2014-Spring 2015
ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT
SUMMARY
Representatives from Academic Enrichment developed a survey to gather information from internship
employers to evaluate their satisfaction with the performance of their University of Montana interns.
Individual reports of internship outcome results were generated by the Academic Enrichment Office and
reviewed by faculty and staff in participating academic units on campus. The following is a summary of
the findings for the activity named below.
METHODOLOGY
Academic Enrichment launched the web-based survey to 808 supervisors spanning Summer 2014, Fall
2014, and Spring 2015 semesters. Supervisors were notified of the survey via e-mail towards the
completion of each student’s internship, each semester. Of those invited, 674 completed the survey,
which represents a response rate of 83%. The survey asked employers to report whether they felt that
the internship contributed positively to the interns’ skillset and employability. Employers were also
asked to report on their satisfaction with the overall internship experience.
POPULATION
Over the course of Summer 2014, Fall 2014, and Spring 2015 semesters, 808 internships were arranged
through Griz eRecruiting. Several employers employed multiple interns from the University of Montana.
Of these internships, 790 were located in the United States including 106 out of state, 684 in Montana,
(including 581 in Missoula and 150 at the University of Montana). The remaining 18 international
internships included Argentina, Australia, Cambodia, Chile, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel,
Nepal, Panama, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Spain.
UNIT REPORTS
This report covers the internship supervisor responses for credit internships for the campus as a whole.
All campus units associated with the survey received reports tailored to their activities and associated
outcomes. 43 campus units utilized the internship program Summer 2014, Fall 2014, and Spring 2015.
Numbers ranged from 1 to 68 interns per department. (See appendices for full breakdown of internship
distribution across department)

(Please see appendices for full data set of results)
INTERN IMPROVEMENT OUTCOMES
Overall, 90% of supervisors surveyed between Summer 2014 and Spring 2015 felt that their student
intern’s participation in the internship was beneficial to the intern and to the organization. 97% of
employers felt that the internship improved the student’s skill set and 97% felt that the internship
improved the intern’s employability. Nearly all employers (95%) rated the overall internship experience
Excellent or Good. Over a quarter of all internships (28%) resulted in the interns being offered
employment at the conclusion of the internship. Qualitative responses indicated that many employers
who were unable to offer positions to their interns were very enthusiastic about their intern’s
contributions and would have hired them if there were job openings or additional resources at their
disposal to allow for a hire. Some supervisors reported that the interns continued to volunteer their
time to their internship organization after their internship contract ended. Many employers indicated
1
that they would love to continue their relationship with the University of Montana’s internship program
in the future.
Internship supervisors felt that their interns improved in the following areas:

RECOMMENDATIONS
Immediate endeavors:
1. Follow up with employers who indicated that they would like to continue their relationship with
University of Montana.
Possible future endeavors:
1. Require supervisors to evaluate performance of student interns at beginning and end of the
internship to produce measurable data and better track learning outcomes.
2. Add quantitative question to measure if circumstances were favorable would the supervisor hire
the intern in the future.
3. Investigate outcomes for unpaid vs paid internships.

SUPERVISOR
604 supervisors responded to the open-ended question, “Describe the intern's strengths, any challenges
they faced, and in what way(s) they might improve their skills.” Of those supervisors, 452 offered their
comments for public distribution and 154 others responded but declined to have their comments
published. Those 154 responses have been withheld from this report. Identifying information pertaining
to campus units was changed to [Department]. Intern’s names have been replaced with the word
[Intern] to adhere to FERPA requirements.

Organization
Immediately [Intern] was able to come in and shoot sports highlights quickly and
effectively-even the sports she was unfamiliar with. She was also flexible and helped
out news on several occasions. Was a very valuable part of the team during a very busy
time of year
Great self-starter, ethical in use of time and resources and a team-player. These are all
strengths.
[Intern] has now experienced the busy world of event management after playing a
critical role in the production of the NW / SW Kickoff Classic and the State Class C Girls
Basketball Tournament both hosted by the Adams Center. [Intern] is very organized
and committed to her projects. She works well under pressure and exhibited a great
deal of flexibility during both of these events. I believe these events provided a great
learning and understanding environment for [Intern]. She was thrown into the fire and
performed quite well. As with any intern or college age student, the learning curve is
steep. [Intern] needs to continue to absorb the processes and structure of how event
management occurs. She has a great opportunity to move forward by continuing to
work at the Adams Center and attending conferences related to the venue
management business.
[Intern] is a self-starter with outstanding initiative and diligence. I was very pleased with
her internship results.
Coming into this internship there was a question as to if [Intern] was professionally
ready. From day one he has proven to be. He has never been viewed as an intern but a
consultant, which is quite impressive. I do not know if he has been offered a position
yet as his internship is not over yet.
Communication; [Intern] was great at communicating with both Kristin and me with
project related items. She was also a great team player and agile - which was very
important, especially with the project she was working on!
[Intern]’s determination is definitely one of her strengths. I would say one of her
biggest struggles is comprehension. This was especially true when trying to explain the
process for applying for the internship, what the internship would entail, etc.
[Intern] came into the internship with a strong work ethic to begin with and has
excelled throughout. The areas that he has grown most is in his knowledge of Quote to
Cash and CPQ. It was great to see him take the initiative with his learnings.
[Intern] pays attention to detail and has a positive attitude. She still struggles with
English at times but is tenacious and figuring out the correct grammar or spelling. We
were impressed with her final project presentation and she was very professional.
[Intern] was proactive in achieving her internship goals in improving her English skills
and learning about a US company's office culture.
[Intern] was great at taking initiative for any jobs needing to get done. He is always on
time and very dependable. [Intern] has improved greatly on program presentations
when speaking with the public. [Intern] is a great team member and works well with
others. I believe this was [Intern]’s first internship working with animals. This was a
new area for him to learn and expand his knowledge in. He did great!
[Intern] is a straightforward communicator, efficient, diligent, and dependable. The
challenge she faced was an internship that was somewhat loosely structured and
7
dependent on self-motivation on the part of an intern. She met the challenge and
exceeded expectations! I can't think of much that Breanna needs a lot of improvement
with. If anything, she could have used more creativity in helping to finalize the details of
the internship requirements, because it was so loosely structured with the possibility of
tailoring the experience to the individual.

Strengths - adaptability and speed Weakness - cultural awareness
[Intern] is very likeable and communicates well. From a work product standpoint, he is
showing lots of enthusiasm for projects which interest him, and for those he sometimes
goes off on wild tangents and has to be reined in... For work that needed to be done
but which did not interest him as much, it was more challenging to work with him. In
real life, he may not be able to be as selective in what he chooses to do because any
role at any company has some elements which are more interesting personally and
some which may be less interesting.
[Intern] had a strong background working with wild rehabilitation animals. She had
never worked with exotics before and she needed to learn a different approach to
interacting with them to produce a different result than what she was used to. She did
a great job listening and learning new skills. More experience is all she needs.
[Intern] is a great listener and learner. She absorbs information and is able to use that
information to improve her overall performance in public speaking. She was faced with
having to present animals she had little time to prepare for and rose to the challenge on
the spot. She can improve her skills by continuing to practice and experience public
speaking and handling animals.
ACCI stresses cognitive education and conservation of primates. [Intern] was quick to
build a relationship with the Bonobos and fellow workers which attributed to a
successful internship program
Student took direction well. Worked well on his own and had good time management.
Student could improve on writing skills, nothing some practice won’t help :)
[Intern] is a proficient gardener and versed on sustainable practices that were valuable
to the farm. He is a self-starter and was able to formulate calendars and schedules
based on minimal information. He is good at managing time and activities. He was
extremely professional and pleasant to be around. He was helpful, and able to teach
others with relative ease. [Intern] is a great communicator, and hard worker. I would
say there is not much improvement left to be made in his farming abilities or his
professional demeanor. Looking forward to having him back as soon as possible.
[Intern] is very good at listening to instructions, taking notes and then putting the
instructions/notes into action. When she asks a question she is clear and to the point.
She is very good at using all the resources available to her to complete tasks assigned to
her. [Intern] came into an environment where she knew no one, was a long way from
home and was paired with several other interns from very different locations. She was
polite, kind and helpful throughout the entire experience.
[Intern] is amazing. Very strong organizational skills and adapted to many different
situations. She was very gracious in interviewing the veterans as well as the other
professionals. The fact that we did not get her work published was not her fault, but
just situations that were beyond our control.
[Intern] is open minded, flexible and willing to learn. She asks appropriate questions
and sought out learning opportunities. She has good interpersonal relationship skills
and communicated well with the patients.
Strengths: [Intern] is dedicated to children and families, which is a great asset. She was
able to take constructive criticism from the lead teacher when she was overstepping
her boundaries somewhat. Challenges: Struggles adjusting to the different roles
between the two centers (preschool as primary kitchen assistant, and toddler as
teacher aide with more hands-on child interaction) Heavier work load at times due to
teacher/students on vacation Ideas for improvement: Adjusting expectations or asking
for job duty clarification or discussion for a clearer picture or perspective Learning and
applying stress management techniques Speaking with supervisors about issues as they
come up
[Intern] was a great asset to our field crews this summer. She was determined to learn
and take on a multitude of new skills, is a quick learner, very insightful and interested in
taking on the hard tasks. In addition, she was always enthusiastic, positive, willing to
work together with everyone and have a good sense of humor, even when the work
was difficult.
She listens well, has phenomenal intuition, demonstrates innate creative talent with the
advertising videos she has been producing, anticipates needs and her enthusiasm is

contagious to the other staff here at Avius. I can't even pinpoint what she could
improve upon. She is being given experience also writing press releases and producing
case studies for us. We are thrilled we hosted her this Summer. She is a self-starter
who has demonstrated the ability to work remotely.
[Intern] worked with five of our most challenged students on mental health and its
relationship to personal success at school with an emphasis on social skill building. She
is very strong in bringing a group together quickly. Time will build skill level for [Intern].
As a beginning practitioner, [Intern] is excellent.
[Intern] is excellent at making a plan, following through and completing projects. She
works quickly and efficiently, always seeking to make the most positive impact she
could during her time with us. She communicates very clearly and seeks clarification
when needed. She is an excellent writer and works very well with numbers as well
(projecting income and expenses in this case).
[Intern] improved his skills in interpersonal relationships while completing many tasks
that were new to him. This was a very integrated real world experience where he was
invited to and did get involved in all aspects of non profit park and recreation
management.
[Intern] was a great intern; he came in at many inconvenient times to help make
deadlines and was a vital asset to the team. I think the biggest challenge was the level
of unforeseen difficulties that cropped up because the constantly changing body copy
of the program. It was defiantly a difficult internship job but [Intern] did a great job of
continuing to stay motivated through the constant revisions.
[Intern] did great. HE was thorough, competent and committed to the projects we
accomplished. I think he learned a lot as well about professional programs and projects.
He was a hard working and very nice to work with.
[Intern] is a go-getter. She really made things happen for us and did the work with little
to excess guidance. The one thing that could've helped is more communication around
what she was doing. I always had to ask, and I would've liked [Intern] to share her work
as we went along. But, I think that's as much my fault with internship structure as
anything.
She is very personable and a very hard worker and relates to kids very well
[Intern] has a wonderful ability to study complex topics, wade through piles of data or
information and find the news, then write it concisely. He simplifies topics intelligently
and has a knack for weeding out the “BS. “He’s bold and eager, but not overwhelming.
He never balked at an assignment -- large, small, challenging or odd -- and was willing to
pitch in wherever needed. Throughout the summer, I watched [Intern] 's writing evolve
to a point where he was better at taking himself out of the narrative and putting
source's voices in the spotlight, while maintain his storytelling style. He went from using
some pretty bland, non-descript quotes to getting a good handle on when he could
objectively write it better than a source had said it, while aping up his interviewing and
listening skills to capture the quotes that would tell the source's story better than he
could write it. I would love to see [Intern] have more and more opportunities to
continue to sharpen those skills. He broke through those storytelling barriers in several
pieces later in the summer, but still has some room to grow as he develops those skills
for features. Overall, [Intern] had a great attitude and work ethic throughout the
summer. He never missed a story deadline or left us hanging; if a story I assigned him
didn't come through, he communicated that to me in a timely manner and tried every
avenue possible to make it work before explaining to me what the roadblock was. I
depended on him this summer, and he delivered over and over again. The area I felt like
[Intern] needed the most coaching on was in finding the “who cares “aspect of a story,
and finding that aspect specifically for a small community. In his great ability to cut to
the chase of a story and “no frills” writing style, most of my edits and suggestions were
simply asking him to add more useful details or tell us the unique specifics that really
catch a reader's attention, connect them to a subject they didn't know they cared
about, and turn a good story into a great story. He worked hard to reduce redundancies
in his writing throughout the summer, and was really great at looking at several
different angles to explore a topic. [Intern] had a strong ability to edit his own writing,
improving drafts several times before I would make a final edit. By then, the story
would almost always be completely clean of technical errors. He was a great asset as a
proofreader overall. [Intern] also expanded his skills outside of writing and reporting
this summer. He picked up the use of InDesign quickly and started laying out pages in
his last couple weeks. He learned quickly, listened to feedback and massaged the details
until it was done well. He picked up on headline writing and nearly always was able to

illustrate his stories with photos, which he edited and captioned well. He even pitched
in, with a great attitude and good humor, the day we were slammed and got a twopage, full color grocery ad request in that needed built right on deadline. He grabbed
his camera and went right to the store to start taking product pictures while I started
building the ad. We dropped the nicely-taken and scavenged photos in and the grocery
manager was exceptionally pleased, securing more of his business the next week. That's
just one example of [Intern] being a team player here. Truly, [Intern] was a pleasure to
work with on all levels. I'd happily recommend him for any career in the journalism field
in the future and look forward to see him continue to grow and mature in his craft.
The intern has had previous experience working in this lab. The internship project
included production of nanodiscs and characterization by spectroscopic methods.
Improvements were noted in experimental technique and data analysis. More initiative
in reading the literature will help answer questions that came up in the analysis.
[Intern] was a team player willing to take on any task asked of her even with very little
experience.
[Intern] has been a dedicated IT Intern working unpaid while holding down another
part-time job. Being such a young student, [Intern]’s IT experience was limited to begin
with. However, I feel throughout the summer [Intern] has not been afraid to tackle any
job I put him on IT related or not and find a solution. He asks good questions. As he has
become more used to the culture and work environment I've seen [Intern] step out and
start to see and propose solutions to problems on his own. Skills that [Intern] can work
on improving are documentation of work and concise constant email communication
with supervisor. I feel as [Intern] moves through school and gathers more experience
he will have a better idea of how to apply these lessons in a real business environment.
[Intern] is great at taking initiative and following through on commitments. She clearly
is very passionate about the kind of grassroots environmental work that Blue Skies
Campaign does, and she has been a big help with our work this fall. It has been great
having [Intern] as an intern.
Quick learner. Has skill sets that are needed for the job. Challenge is to continue to
learn our industry.
[Intern] has been a pleasure to work with! He was able to work on these top 3 goals
with success:1- Web coding ability: has built on the skills he already had and developed
them further in a professional environment with his team and mentors2Communication: has advanced his communication skills with others in verbal and nonverbal ways, and had one small opportunity to present to a group.3- Personal Interest this experience has helped [Intern] to determine what skills and tasks he enjoys in a
business environment, will help him focus in the future on what skills he is good at and
wants to advance.
The intern had to learn how to prepare individual tax returns from start to finish. She
adapted to any issues that popped up and was learning from mistakes.
[Intern] is a fantastic addition to our office. She had been working in another area in
the dealership and has always excelled at what she does. We will miss her next
summer when she is away.
Punctual, Mentally prepared, would take on any challenge..
[Intern] had great personal skills when communicating with potential customers. He
also has a key role in the development of our social networking marketing plan for our
customers. I have nothing to suggest on a way to improve his skills.
[Intern] has been a pleasure to have with us the last few months. She is enthusiastic
and absolutely willing to do anything. I wish I would have had more time to spend with
her on strategic planning types of things, but all of the projects she has worked on she
has done well.
[Intern] is motivated to learn and succeed, making him a pleasure to work with. He also
carries himself professionally, and has made himself an expert in Campus Recreation's
industry and operation. This has been invaluable to our successful transition to Fusion
Recreation Management System. [Intern] configured much of the back-end of the
system, and was also a key leader in training staff on front-end best practices. [Intern]
should have every confidence in his skills and future employ-ability.
[Intern] used his creativity to produce high-quality multimedia for the Outdoor Program
while also keeping consistent with our brand image. He tested skills learned in practical
classes, and was able to add significant work to his professional portfolio. We shared his
work on social media (facebook, twitter, youtube) with great feedback and interaction.
[Intern] 's challenges included filming in outdoor elements with a variety of people. He
had to edit and sometimes retake interviews or scenes in order to get the quality

desired. His hard work showed in the end products. The only improvement would be to
balance detail/perfection with timely delivery.
[Intern] is a team player with a contagious positive attitude. He has a very strong work
ethic and is committed to doing his job well. He was always prepared for the day and
willing to help out with extra activities when needed. The biggest challenged [Intern]
faced was a lack of hours in the beginning of the summer, if he was frustrated about
this, he did not show it. He is extremely mature and the type of employee we want on
staff. We hope to see him again next year.
[Intern] was extremely reliable and had a great work ethic. She took amazing photos.
Her writing was very approachable and enjoyable. Possibly she faced a challenge
working with some of the other interns in the office at the time, mainly because they
were French-speaking and high schoolers who were not a great fit for the press office.
[Intern] 's skills in using Photoshop to create marketing products is outstanding. Her
creativeness is superb. [Intern] did an outstanding job in promoting UM students to
attend our event. She created flyers posted in the dorms and handbills that were sent
to all students living on campus informing them of the services that we offer to in
helping students choose a major.
[Intern] just needs a little more confidence in himself
[Intern] was very helpful this semester and did a great job of taking complex science
themes and adapting them into our video game script format. Most of the content that
needed to be adapted was very technical and he was able to still work with that
information and adapt it for a middle school audience. I would suggest that [Intern]
continue to improve his communication skillset by checking emails more regularly and
focus on improving his active listening skills in a team setting. Also, I would recommend
paying more attention to detail in all aspects of future work (not just the writing), for
example, completing his internship paperwork at the beginning of the semester and
following up to make sure all paperwork requirements are being met. These skills will
be helpful wherever he may work in the future. Thank you [Intern] for your hard work
this semester!
[Intern] is a very polite, talented, and hard working student who is a pleasure to work
with. Thank you [Intern] for a wonderful semester!
[Intern] is amazing - her passion for learning and willingness to shadow is inspiring and
contagious. Despite all that she has on her plate - she always shows up ready and
willing to jump in. Her preparedness and team mentality has been incredible.
[Intern] really enjoyed the culture and community of our organization - but it was hard
to feel her 'passion' or understand what aspect of our mission/work she was most
drawn to. We relied, and strongly encouraged her to craft a role for her, to shadow
others, and to build an internship that would give her greatest access to her interest
areas or employable interests. While her dependability (willingness to go where she
was asked, etc.) was always reliable - a lack of 'self-motivation' or initiation made it
hard to really maximize her time with us. Doors were consistently opened for
shadowing opportunities, to take the lead on projects that overlapped with her
academic goals - but there was very little, if any, movement on those opportunities.
Eventually, on several projects - staff and volunteers moved on roles without [Intern]’s
participation. I think part of [Intern]’s hesitancy was a confidence in the field - which I
have watched grow/transform. It was hard to never really feel like I understood what
[Intern] was drawn to in this field, in our work - and the experience/goals she had for
herself. She seemed quite happy to show up every week - but ended up spending a lot
of office time doing homework/linking with research as opposed to really maximizing
her time and overlap with staff. We adjusted and readjusted expectations several times
during the internship. Overall, I have watched [Intern] grow professionally, and with a
personal confidence. I have loved having her presence in the office - and feel that we
were a very positive experience for her, and one that created a community of support
for her. From a 'field' or supervisor experience - I was disappointed that she didn't
want more from this experience, and often didn't maximize on opportunities or on
collaborations with other staff. She is a wonderful person, and will make an wonderful
addition to a team - which will be made that much more powerful when she figures out
what she is really interested in and passionate about.
[Intern] has a gift for education. Calm, engaged and caring, the students loved his
presence and knowledge. [Intern] took responsibility, was cable of working with the
very intense (but short) chaotic schedule and many hours of teaching in front of many
children. [Intern] was able to fit his teaching style to the class he was in, the teacher's
expectation and the level of engagement and knowledge of the children.

[Intern] had a major fall out in the middle of our most intense period of work. She ask
me (her advisor) to help change her tire cause she doesn't know how to do it by herself
and can't get to her scheduled teaching period the following day. In addition, that
morning, after I offered her my personal vehicle since at 7am that morning I had a text
from her saying she needs my car to get to her class, she notified me that she won't be
joining us at the field trip that was starting 30 minutes later since she doesn't feel good.
This has tainted my view of her maturity and dependability. I have talked with her and
expressed my concerns with her.
[Intern] picks up things very quickly. If he was not so quick a study, he would not have
thrived like he has in our fast-paced operation.
[Intern] did very well learning to work as a team with the other CDC staff. She was also
able to contribute valuable information when applicable. She asked appropriate
questions and was always willing to learn more. She also did well working with the
diverse population of children seen at CDC.
[Intern] is exceptional at her work with young children with Autism. She remains calm
and professional even when children are exhibiting very challenging behaviors. She is
incredibly reliable, dependable, and flexible. We wish we could have her for more hours
each week!
[Intern] had to work with a team on a complex project involving molecular genetic
analysis for non-model, avian organisms for a phylogenetic/phylogeography research
study. This project included tackling complex bench work in addition to developing
organizational skills in managing hundreds of samples. [Intern] performed well in these
task on an individual level and proved to be a strong team member. Part of [Intern]’s
role on this collaborative team was teaching and supervising high school research team
members. He proved to be an accomplished leader in this task and an excellent mentor
to the junior students in the lab.
[Intern] has tremendous leadership and facilitator skills. When working with our youth
camp participants, she was direct, yet related to each child. Her patience and
dependability made her an excellent part of our summer program.
This intern provided strong, detailed work with light supervision. He exceeded
expectation with his technical proficiency and ability to problem solve when issues
arose.
[Intern] showed improvement with not only her phone skills, but multitasking and with
working with deadlines.
[Intern] was very pleasant to both our staff and patients. He was prompt and timely and
had great social and listening skills. He was easily trained and integrated into all aspects
of the office and clinic.
[Intern] is a hard worker, interested in learning more, open to feedback and all around a
good person to work with.
We involved [Intern] in a variety of management situations in our company. [Intern]
adapted to all of the challenges and took direction from our Management team. We
involved [Intern] in operations in two different regions of our company and
demonstrated a willingness to learn; and utilized his education in the process.
Right off the bat, [Intern] was one of the best interns I've ever had. She came in with
an extremely positive attitude, an overwhelming excitement about this industry, great
willingness to learn and be open to feedback, as well as a talent and skill set that many
college kids definitely DO NOT have at her age and level of experience. We describe the
internship as more of an entry-level editor position, and she satisfied that position and
more. She drastically improved her writing ability, as well as learned the ins and outs of
this industry from various perspectives (writer, photo editor, editor, photographer,
etc.). Her story ideas and brainstorming ability were always spot on, which is a rarity for
someone who hasn't been doing this for a while. She always asked to be given more
work and to be as productive as possible. The best interns are the ones I can assign a
task to no matter how small or large and fully trust that they will get it done and do it
well, including needing little to no hand-holding by me; Leslie was exactly that. The
only challenges we faced were scheduling and timing, which is not unusual for interns
who get part-time jobs. There were a handful of times that I would send her an
assignment, and I was never sure if she received the instructions or if she did the task
until I would have to ask her. Basically I would have liked slightly more communication
in that department, but those times were not the norm, and I think she learned and
adapted to the fact that more communication is ALWAYS better than less.
[Intern] grew in our sales department with communication and being able to target
leads and accomplish goals set before him. He became a great asset to our company.

Was always eager to help out in various departments as well as take on and learn new
tasks.
[Intern] is a hard worker. She produces high quality work. [Intern] has also
broadened her interactions within our department further strengthening her skills which was an area she needed improvement in. Otherwise, she is a model student!
Self motivated, actively engaged with all staff, physicians and patients. Eager to learn
and worked will in all areas. Sought out questions and thoughtful interactions.
[Intern] 's strengths are definitely in the area of interpersonal skills which will serve him
well as he pursues his goal of applying for PT school. He was at ease with patients and
his interaction with them put them at ease as well. He became more perceptive as the
internship progressed, anticipating therapists' needs and following up in a timely
fashion to improve productive time with patients. [Intern] also became more self
directed, flexing his time to different areas to accommodate census.
The intern demonstrated a high degree of professionalism when she came to us making
it difficult to measure a lot of improvement. She was self motivated and worked very
well with little direction. Her interactions with staff members and patients were always
positive and professional.
[Intern] is a great worker and gets tasks done in a timely manner. He needs to improve
his communication skills with customers, but he is getting there.
[Intern] listened and picked up everything quickly she was a great intern.
Willing to learn and participate in patient care within her scope of practice.
[Intern] is a motivated individual willing to learn and participate in any experiences
offered to him. He is a hard worker and fast learner. He applied for a job in the ER at
CMC and was hired. His attitude and work ethic are excellent. I would recommend him
for any job opportunities that he seeks out.
[Intern] is such a hard worker. She was a great intern!
[Intern] was a fantastic intern! She was dependable and hardworking during her entire
internship.
[Intern] was a perfect fit for this internship. Her dedication to helping students better
their health and fitness was a huge asset to the success of the program. Even with some
difficult clients [Intern] was still able to help her clients overcome some major barriers.
[Intern] was such a huge asset to the Weigh to GO UM program this semester. She is
dependable, hardworking, and knowledgeable and always has a smile of her face.
[Intern] was a huge asset to the Weigh to Go UM program. I think this internship
pushed her out of her comfort zone in public speaking and leading groups.
[Intern] is extremely reliable and a very hard worker. She was willing to take on all of
the tasks she was assigned, seemed to enjoy the variable nature of the tasks, and even
asked for additional projects. She was always extremely professional and punctual, and
was appropriately flexible when necessary. She contributed greatly to the operation of
the magazine. I hope to offer her an excellent recommendation for employment after
she completes her degree.
[Intern] was an exceptional intern at CutBank. She was extremely reliable, driven, and
hard working. I could always depend on her to complete her assignments on time, take
on additional assignments (sometimes at the last minute!) and accurately report her
hours. While there are no positions available at CutBank, I would certainly hire her if I
could.
[Intern] is very efficient when given tasks and likes to keep busy. She is a quick learner
and eager to give suggestions. She seems ready to take on more challenges. I think she
could improve her ability to be flexible when the situation warrants. In order to
produce events sometimes the “rules” need to be relaxed and the guests
accommodated. I think she is a rule oriented person and could benefit by realizing that
certain situations are fluid. This would help her connect with guests better I think. But
overall she is very competent and personable.
[Intern] will be an asset and provide measurable contributions to the organization that
hires him. [Intern] 's strengths are that he is collaborative, well organized and desires
to deliver meaningful results. [Intern] listens to the challenges being presented and
begins to create solutions based on his knowledge base. As with any intern more
technical knowledge and application experience is needed to become proficient at
financial modeling and reporting for active businesses. [Intern] had opportunities to
really contribute to companies that are currently operational that DCM Limited is
currently engaged with, which should assist him in whatever career path he chooses.

Extremely solid. [Intern]'s position - As Vice President for ASUM - carries tremendous
responsibilities, both in time and importance to the University. I have been extremely
impressed with the ease and competence with which he has navigated all the
competing challenges of this role.
[Intern] has been a tremendous President of ASUM. The challenges are immeasurable
and he manages it all with ease. He is a wonderfully competent leader.
Highly professional, good communicator, detail oriented, self-directed. She had to deal
with a lot of problem-solving and did great doing so. No improvement needed!
[Intern] did everything asked of him. He was not as active in the venue as previous
interns.
[Intern] demonstrated a strong interest and commitment to his internship, his
investment was very clear. The concise verbal communication required for working on a
team was challenging although he put sincere effort into meeting this challenge and
finished as a supportive and valued team member.
[Intern] was an outstanding intern. Not only could she manage time, problem solve, and
work well with others but she could also redirect a group and keep everyone on task.
[Intern] displayed great enthusiasm and had the skills to work with any personality
under a range of conditions, always uniting the team as a whole. She was a positive and
motivated team member and exhibited confidence in sharing her thoughts and ideas.
Her enthusiasm may lead to her over-committing and juggling many things at once
although her work did not suffer from this.
Skilled at learning from mistakes, great social skills, highly reliable.
[Intern] interned in my archaeological research lab. She was charged with learning a
complex system for analysis of lithic artifacts from our archaeological excavations in
British Columbia. She had to develop ability to recognize over 300 tool types and code
multiple attributes on each. She worked very hard to develop her understanding of
analytical principles and protocols. She also worked closely with me to improve her
analytical abilities. Her work was routinely excellent.
[Intern] had a big learning curve coming into this position. In order to meet this
challenge she sought support from her colleagues, researched applicable laws and best
practices. Her ability to scan and environment and adapt is a clear strength. [Intern]
should feel confident in her ability to succeed.
Being able to adapt and generate a web site that reflects the American Legions message
to potential members and current members, as well as all the existing programs that
the legion is involved with
[Intern] had very little knowledge or experience in Molecular Laboratory Bench Skills. I
believe that she improved greatly over her time in the laboratory. She needs to
continue in the lab on a regular basis to hone in on her Laboratory skills.
[Intern] was a great student. He did what he was asked to do and took notes on how
the parts department does processes and daily activities. [Intern] was given a wide
variety of tasks and completed them on time or ahead of schedule.
[Intern] is willing to do anything asked of her. She stepped up big time when we lost
our marketing director and helped with a lot of design work for us even though she
didn't have much past experience. I think she could be better about communicating
when tasks are completed so staff knows when she is available to take on another
project, but other than that she was fantastic!
[Intern] has unique capacities, insights and abilities to be able to engage tasks and
responsibilities which span different languages and cultures (English and Spanish) in the
United States and Ecuador. She has excellent communication and networking skills, an
outgoing work ethic and positive attitude, as well as a personal commitment which
extends well beyond the scope of her internship. [Intern] met many unforeseen
challenges in the course of her internship, which she was able to navigate effectively.
Perhaps one of her most important lessons learned was the importance of clearly
defining her roles and responsibilities so as not to take on more than she could
accomplish and become overwhelmed. Although [Intern] is self-directing and able to
develop new skills proficiently and network with others when assistance is needed, I
think that the areas for improvement would be directed towards having a formal
orientation to using graphic design and publishing software to further develop and
apply her communication talents through those platforms.

Strengths: Great communication
[Intern] has a positive attitude and is eager to learn new things and accomplish tasks on
or before deadlines. He easily builds a good rapport with other employees and is well
respected. During this internship he was faced with daily challenges of working on new
systems, or working in new environments, and he always faced them constructively and
assertively.
[Intern] is very professional and learns quickly. He works well with others and
communicates effectively.
[Intern] did a very good job as a full-time tax season intern. She worked very hard and
learned a great deal. We appreciate her efforts, flexibility and willingness to learn. She
saw what a real “tax busy season” is like. She needs to determine if she can thrive -- or
not -- in this type of public accounting environment involving time pressure, deadlines,
long hours, constantly-changing client demands and work priorities. Public accounting
is a great career -- but not a great career for everyone. [Intern] now should be able to
determine if she wants to put her accounting degree to work as a CPA in public practice
upon college graduation.
Accountability Working with complex populations (mental health, physical
health)Positive attitude
[Intern] was very friendly and personable with the patients. Professional skills to
continue to work on include professional attire, timeliness and dependability, and
motivation to learn more/ ask more questions.
[Intern] did not begin the internship.
Sophie is flexible, professional, and dependable, with a great attitude. Her feedback
was useful.
I was impressed with [Intern]’s ability/willingness to adapt to challenging situations,
particularly weather conditions. He contributed very well in discussions based on the
project. There was no apparent challenge except that I'd like him to stay a bit longer for
the completion of the field project.
[Intern] came with an enormous skill set, especially for someone who hasn't had formal
experience in this field yet. All our other apprentices for the season came with some
amount of production farm experience, and she fit right in as if she has done this
before. Fantastic work ethic, and excellent awareness and observation skills. She will
master anything she sets her goals on.
[Intern] was all round very good in everything that was assigned to her, we are sad to
see her go back to Montana.
[Intern] has a very unique ability to focus in on an individual’s issues and concerns with
professional skills. When she applies for various professional jobs, Beverly will be a
positive asset for any organization.
[Intern] is a reliable employee that is very conscientious in her work and projects.
Heather displays self-motivation to seek out new experiences and projects. She took on
writing the draft interpretive text and design/layout ideas for a trail wayside sign.
Heather commented on how this was a bit of a stretch for her, as it was a new
experience. She embraced the challenge, learning and coming out with a quality draft.
[Intern] has a great handle of the issues and is extremely passionate about student
activism. She works very well on and off the campus community. She was extremely
successful in her radio/media interviews around an action she planned. She's aware
that her challenges are in recruiting more students, but it's something she is working on
by creating a recruitment plan for the Fall semester.
[Intern] had difficulty in creating a support group for international women. Neither
did assistance she sought from the Women's Center, located in the UC, materialize.
Instead, she decided to meet women on a one-to one basis. She kept a log of her
meetings and she indicated satisfaction with the outcome.
[Intern] 's interest in creating a support group for female international students was
genuine. Every other Saturday afternoon she would invite students at the
International House to meet and discuss issues of common concern. FSSS also offered
refreshments for those gatherings. However, initiating a project of this nature is
challenging as it takes time to establish such a group and gain the trust of its members.
[Intern] used FSSS' weekly electronic newsletter and announcements in English
Language Institute classes to recruit women but with no noted success. Approximately
three to four women would ultimately show up at the Saturday sessions.
[Intern] 's interest in creating a support group for female international students was
genuine. Every other Saturday afternoon she would invite students at the International

[Intern] is a pleasure to work with and has a great attitude. He approached his work
with great enthusiasm. He showed initiative in coming up with a project.
I wished there was another category better then Strongly Agree, because Ben would be
marked with that. [Intern] had much strength. His biggest strength is his people's skills
and his attitude. In the Parks & Rec field, if you do not have people's skills, you will not
be very good at this job. His attitude was one where he never got too high or never got
to low. You always need an even keel. When things go wrong, you have to appear to
the public, workers, volunteers that you have things under control and it is no big deal,
you will figure it out. Ben did an exceptional job with this. 1 thing [Intern] could
improve on is his public speaking with authority. This internship didn't really provide a
great way for him to improve on that and is something that people get more
comfortable with as they do it.
[Intern] has an extremely positive attitude and is always eager to take on another
challenge. He was a great member of his team, and he hit all of his goals during the
semester. Adam has to make some major improvements in communication. Verbal and
written. It was extremely difficult to get ahold of [Intern] most days, and he missed
major communication points that would have improved his work throughout the
semester.
[Intern] still has a lot of growth and work to be done when it comes to interpersonal
and professional relationships. While she has strengths in hitting goals and turning out
numbers, she maintained very poor behaviors when it came to team building and
working with superiors. These issues were discussed in her exit interview, and she is
planning on working to improve these habits.
[Intern] stood out among the interns as one who was truly dedicated to FMF and his
entire team. Always willing to put in extra hours, he never failed to have a smile on his
face.
[Intern] was wonderful to work with. The top of her class, [Intern] managed to
complete all of her goals, exceed expectations in communication, and was working to
graduate this semester.
[Intern] was very self-sufficient and exceeded all goals that were set for her.
[Intern] showed incredible discipline and organizational skills throughout this
internship.
[Intern] was a great team player and was willing to do long, exhausting hours of work at
a time while maintaining a positive attitude. Really kept the spirits of all the other
interns up and focused.
[Intern] was one of the most innovative and flexible interns I worked with this
semester.
[Intern] had little experience working with young children at the start of the internship,
and seemed hesitant and nervous. She has improved greatly and now demonstrates
much confidence working with youth. [Intern] has been willing to do whatever has
been asked of her, she is always reliable and always has a positive attitude!
[Intern] was willing to help out where ever I needed. She did a great job working with
the children and was able to handle the difficult students as well. She was positive and
empathetic when working with the kids...she was a huge help!
Great with people and bicycles. he can continue to improve his mechanical skills
She can learn and build well. if she continues, she will be a master builder for both bike
carts and city design
[Intern] has shown great enthusiasm for our project, working tirelessly to coordinate
volunteer opportunities at the Gardens, collaborate on grant writing, taking the lead in
creating a budget for the Freedom Gardens, as well as creating a very professional
website for the organization. She created brochures for and led classes in composting,
worm bin construction and tree grafting. She also took the position of Treasurer on the
Board of the Freedom Gardens. She faced a steep learning curve to assimilate the
information needed for the job and has done very well in that role. She is an asset to
the Freedom Gardens and is willing to accept any challenge presented to her.
Ability to stay calm under pressure, well prepared for different situations that may
arise, professional, always on time and prepared for shift, excellent addition to the fire
district.

[Intern] was appointed to the Frenchtown School Board, typically an elected position,
based on his interest in public policy, skills in administration developed in the Air Force,
professionalism and genuine desire to support the K-12 district that he graduated from.
His experience as a student helped him to participate fully as a school board member.
His questions, comments and suggestions coupled with his volunteer experienced in the
Gifted and Talented program helped shape the direction of District policy.
[Intern] has done a really good job of improving his project management and
accountability skills. He has moved from expecting me to tell him what to do and when
to do it to directing his projects and scheduling our meetings. He has had the
opportunity to, for lack of a better word, slack off with his projects, but he really
impressed me to with his drive to push forward with the internship and his projects.
Very professional. Did all that was asked and did well. In working for smaller, startup
businesses, I would encourage interns to be more aggressive and proactive, coming up
with their own initiatives and ideas. More freedom and flexibility and requiring less
management.
[Intern] was able to form bonds with youths in her care which allowed these youths to
communicate their issues, problems and successes. [Intern] did an excellent job
utilizing strategies. Her notes and other written commination were excellent.
[Intern] was a very dependable intern. She did a wonderful job creating rapport with
families and keeping that clinical trusting relationship while working with clients. She
was more than willing to help out wherever she could and was great at taking the
initiative to fix problems and ask for help where needed. She had to navigate through
some boundary issues and was able to seek guidance and learn how to balance those
boundaries. She was very hardworking, dependable and has become a great leader for
other staff to learn from.
[Intern] was extremely reliable, upbeat, and worked hard. She always strived to adapt
to the many different teaching situations this internship offered. In the future I think
continuing to work on tone and age-appropriate language when teaching will help
Autumn become a fantastic teacher.
[Intern] is a great guy, he is smart and hard working and seemed to enjoy his time at
the farm
[Intern] is a super sharp, highly motivated problem solver. In terms of improvement, he
doesn't suffer fools well, but I am sure his patience with regular people will grow as he
continues to mature. He is smarter and faster thinking than most people, and will, I am
sure, come to relax his expectations of others even as he raises the bar for himself.
Great personality and work ethic. Pleasure to work with. Diligent and accurate. Could
still learn to be more proactive but did in the end publish several articles with a byline,
which is HUGE for employability! Challenge was being thrown into the deep and dealing
with it absolutely brilliantly and holding her own. Very proud of [Intern]!
Excellent interpersonal skills and engagement with clients.
[Intern] came to us with advanced writing and photographic skills, as well as having an
organizational system of her own that kept her current with ongoing and upcoming
situations. She had the greatest challenge in finding ways of getting things done when
circumstances and events, as well as people, stood in her way. She eventually adjusted
to the pace of events here and worked more often with them than against them, which
I believe is one of the more important skills she developed.
[Intern] came into our company with little experience in sales and marketing.
Throughout the internship, we watched [Intern] grow tremendously. His average
Closing ratio increased by over 20% and he was instrumental in helping develop and
implement a specific marketing project for outside sales to Insurance companies.
Through recorded calls, call coaching and real world critique really molded him into a
young professional. We hope he will return to one of our 3 companies in some capacity.
[Intern] was an amazing addition to our team. She always had a positive attitude and
was willing to do anything. She still has a few weeks with us and we are working on the
hierarchy and structure of our business and professional interactions (ie- interrupting
conversations with producers, etc)
[Intern] 's greatest strength are designing and implementing formal and informal
educational programs, which was a significant part of this internship. The other major
component was coordinating volunteers to harvest fruit to prevent human-wildlife
conflict. A big challenge when working with volunteers is managing people with varying
skill sets and backgrounds, and interfacing with personalities that can at times be
difficult. [Intern] did all this with grace and patience. [Intern] is an introvert, so I'd
imagine the social aspects of the job are more challenging for him, and continuing to
17
push his comfort zone socially (which he does) might help these skills.

[Intern] was our lone returning intern and therefor was promoted to Senior/Lead
intern. She was responsible for training 7 new interns, acting as the liaison in the event
of any issues between interns and responsible for assisting with all scheduling. She did a
great job. She has a lot on her plate and did a good job managing it. What we love most
about Bailey is that she is very personable and made all the new interns feel at home.
[Intern] is a good listener and hard worker who take pride in the job at hand. She is
reliable and a team player. She filled in for other interns on numerous occasions. We
tasked her with being the lead intern for a sport despite being one of the youngest
interns and she knocked it out of the park. She has become the intern that we
constantly turn to when we need someone to count on.
[Intern] was a reliable intern and is great with people. We could trust her to answer our
phones and give out accurate information or take detailed messages and pass them
along. In addition to that, she has a great personality and lightens the mood for folks
when things are stressful.
[Intern] is very organized and driven. Her biggest challenge with this internship was
most likely not feeling challenged enough and at times feeling like she was wasting
time. Working in athletics is time consuming and isn't always an efficient use of time.
Being that she is incredibly busy with being a student-athlete and a student on top of
the internship, I think that part of the job; the less than glamorous parts of the job were
frustrating. [Intern] did a great job of trying to make the most of the experience and
really stepped up when she was challenged to step up to the plate and be a leader.
[Intern] did a great job interning for us. He was always willing to take on any challenge
with a great attitude. There was nothing he wasn't willing to do, or attempt to
do...which will prove beneficial down the road.
This is her first true experience with an outpatient PT clinic. She comes in with strong
communication skills and interpersonal skills that one cannot just learn from books/
class. This is a strength that will provide her an advantage through her career.
[Intern] possesses many strengths; positive and professional attitude, needed little or
no guidance with projects, detail oriented in all projects given to her, open for
discussion but was not afraid to voice her opinion and back it with well thought out
problem solving solutions.
[Intern] was easy to have in the clinic and the clients felt comfortable with her
presence. She mostly had to observe, but picked up in ways that were appropriate to
help me. I was not able to have her “work” in that sense, but she was willing to help
me organize the clinic or take a phone call if appropriate. She engaged with the clients
when appropriate and was enjoyable to them.
[Intern] is a dependable hard working person and a great person to have on my team.
During her internship the museum was going through a bit of a stressful time (an
employee leaving) and so I feel like I didn't give her as much attention as I should have
for a few weeks while that was getting sorted out. However, during that time [Intern]
excelled at increasing her ability to self-motivate and problem solve on her own. Her
writing ability improved over the course of the internship as well as her use of social
media to promote museum events. I was very impressed by the end results of her two
major projects - the volunteer manual and forestry day kid's activities. I gave her some
guidance in the beginning, but she followed through and made them both exactly what
we needed. My only suggestion for [Intern] is that if she decides to work in park
interpretation or at a historic site that she take an interpretive writing course (even just
a day workshop), just because writing for the public is a different style than academic
writing and I think it would be useful.
[Intern] is a good problem solver. She is very flexible and exhibited the ability to pivot
and refocus when she completed a project or determined next steps on project
required reconsideration. [Intern] is amiable and easygoing, hard-working and selfdirected. As a stickler for documentation, I gave her feedback on providing clear
documentation to accompany her work, e.g. formulas, source materials. She was able
to intuit that the scope of work that we settled upon was beyond her capacity and
decided to prepare her work in a way that it could be picked up by someone else at a
later date. She saw, correctly, that her role was ultimately to define the pathway to
better accounting for CO2 emissions reductions via reuse instead of completely defining
those reductions, something we discovered together to be a tremendous undertaking.
[Intern] is very dependable and capable. He is friendly and helpful to students. He
would offer to go beyond what was expected. His presence helped advising is more
consistently accessible to students at all times. He also helped this advising office flow

through the term more fluidly. Reese improved his ability to produce a good-looking

more aware of the state of the Humanities and why they are important.
She is an absolute advocate for the elderly. She completely believes in letting them
have choices and options. Not everyone does that. She is kind and will often help the
elderly find a better option for them.
Easy to work with and very bright
[Intern] took responsibility for making sure his tasks were completed on time and that
his work was complete and accurate. [Intern] exceeded my expectations because he
seemed to grasp concepts quickly and draw relationships between the task given to him
and “big picture” initiatives of the firm. He was affable and personable among the other
staff and they really liked working with him. I was very impressed when he suggested a
project to research and implements a personality inventory to help management make
better hiring decisions. An area of improvement where [Intern] can improve is his
verbal communication and prioritizing his work. He was challenged when he was asked
about certain information that he was responsible for learning. In this area, I feel he
could have been more thorough in his research and command of the material. I feel
that as [Intern] matures and gains more experience this will easily be remedied. Overall
I give [Intern] an A+ for his effort and contribution to our firm and would invite him
again. Thanks [Intern]!
[Intern] did an amazing job. We were all impressed with her professionalism and her
positive attitude.
[Intern] learned quickly and took on tasks and projects with initiative and skill. She is
friendly, dependable and committed. The only challenge I saw was connecting to our
fair trade committee that didn't meet much over the summer, but [Intern] has been
persistent with it.
He is a very knowledgeable young man with a strong technical desire/skill set. I think he
really wants to learn more about Business/Problem Solving, and is definitely on the
right path to do that.
[Intern] came to us with a lot of skills and was open to critique aimed at improving her
writing to make it even more immediate and compelling to the reader. Her enthusiasm
and conscientiousness served her and us very well.
[Intern] did very well with training and preparing of returns. She received feedback
very well and asked thoughtful questions. We enjoyed having her as an intern.
[Intern] is a highly capable, independent, and dependable employee. I'm keeping him
around as long as possible.
[Intern] was a very progressive intern; he met all the requirements, deadlines and tasks
that KBGA College Radio presented to him. Also, he went above and beyond by putting
on a community fundraiser, which turned out to be more than successful. [Intern]
faced some challenges early on with being confident enough to make executive
decisions; however, by the end of his internship he showed progress in within this area.
We just hired [Intern] on as the new Business Manager of KBGA College Radio. He
impressed our GM throughout his internship and I have no doubt that he will continue
to do a great job as an employee of KBGA College Radio.
[Intern] seems like she is always on top of everything. She is very organized and is
excellent at meeting deadlines. I would like to have seen more participation with some
things, as well as more time spent in the office. However, I understand that balancing
school, work, and an internship can be tough. [Intern] kept me and everyone in the
office feeling like they needed to step up their game. Having employees and co-workers
with this mentality keeps everyone sharp, and on their toes.
Intern is very proficient with spreadsheets, works well unsupervised, and is pleasant to
be around. To improve skills [Intern] just needs more experience in a work
environment.
[Intern] initiated many of the communications between me and his co-intern. He was a
self starter and kept me on track with moving this project forward. One of the
challenges they faced was basically comparing apples to oranges. They had to weed
through two spec sheets for two different boiler technologies in an effort to compare
how each would perform in our application.
She is a wonderful videographer--better than most. Writing is coming along nicely and
she contributed to our newscasts. We hired her as a part-time reporter.
[Intern] is a hard worker with a good understanding of the business. He can do a
variety of things. He has been a pleasure to have in the newsroom. [Intern] needs to
learn to relax. He's a bit high-strung. Other than that, thumbs up.

[Intern] demonstrated initiative and a positive attitude. She came into the internship
with very little practical experience in shooting and editing video as well as reporting.
Within 2 weeks she was a fully functioning member of our newsroom.
[Intern] was willing to learn different areas of broadcast television. He was extremely
valuable over the last few months and we enjoyed having his assistance. His greatest
strength is his willingness to work and his positive attitude.
[Intern] came to me with a strong skillset professionally and academically. She has an
incredible disposition for learning. She is curious and reflective. In the short time she
has joined our team at LAB it is difficult to say that her experience with us was
responsible for her high marks on the above questions.
[Intern] was an excellent intern. We really enjoyed having him in the office. He is very
smart and picked up our audit process rapidly. He is also very intuitive and is a great
problem solver. He has a great attitude and we were impressed by how hard he
worked!
[Intern] is a self-starter and has come into this internship ready to take on new
challenges, including becoming a focal point for new students and conducting remote
training sessions with researchers in Canada and Senegal. He has quickly grasped both
the technology and research aspects of the work, completing tasks that other interns
spend more time with. His challenge for the work at Legal Atlas is increasing his foreign
language skill set. This is not a challenge unique to him, but generally for students in the
United States. The work at Legal Atlas and similar organizations is global in scope
requiring high levels of foreign language ability.
[Intern] is opening minded, curious, and eager to learn. The was dependable and selfmotivating. She was faced with a poorly defined final outcome and expected to find her
way through problem definition, finding solutions and choosing one. I think [Intern] is a
fine person, a deep thinker and has the courage to go anywhere she wants.
[Intern] was in charge of organizing the Let's Move! Missoula Unplug and Play event
with a small group of local organizations. She was tasked to set up all the details of the
event from contacting the sponsors, sending out confirmations, tracking weekly and big
event information. She was very professional and friendly when working with the
unplug and play team and in all aspects of her outreach. She was given past years
unplug and play tools and resources to use for the event planning and was given oral
tips on what to expect and how to be organized. [Intern] did a nice job except for a
double check in the fine details of sponsor confirmation with the printed brochure. We
had to go and correct 5,000 brochures after they were printed. [Intern] and I debriefed
the oversight and both took ownership in how the brochure could have been proofed
better. The day of the event came and was a huge success. [Intern] 's hard work had
paid off for the big event with over 528 attendees. [Intern] ran an obstacle course at
the unplug and play event. She is a natural teacher and leader with kids. She has
boundless positive energy and patience. It was fun to watch her grow this semester into
a fantastic community health specialist and professional. She will do amazing work in
her future career plans.
[Intern] was an exceptional intern working in the obesity prevention field working in
many aspects of community health. She was flexible with her willingness to learn all
the aspects of working with a comprehensive framework for obesity prevention and
asserted herself when asked to participate in a task or project. She helped to conduct
Body Mass Index measurements of 3rd and 7th grade students, created Brain Breaks for
middle and high schools, and participated in the Unplug and Play event and other
health fairs. Her personable character was a great asset in working out in the field with
parents, kids, teachers and fellow interns. She is a natural leader and demonstrated a
commitment to Let's Move! Missoula. I appreciated her time working with Let's Move!
Missoula and wanting what is best for Missoula’s kids. I appreciate her commitment,
flexibility and positive energy displayed in all aspects of her work. She was easy to
approach and take constructive feedback with a smile. She will be an outstanding
community health professional.
[Intern] was an excellent addition to the Let's Move! Missoula initiative. She came in
prepared and ready to learn about childhood obesity in Missoula County. She began
her internship with learning about the Body Mass Index Surveillance Program for 3rd
and 7th graders. She jumped right in and organized the spreadsheets, went to BMI
training, helped do BMI measurements and lastly compiled the data. She was detail
oriented and thorough with all of the data entry. Next she began work to assess all
Missoula County vending machines for which snacks were compliant and noncompliant. After the assessment is completed she will take the information and put it

[Intern] also helped with Let's Move! Missoula health fairs running active obstacle

with boundless energy. She was a very assertive communicator and asked clarifying
questions when she didn't understand a part of her internship. She will be an asset to
future health employers.
[Intern] brought excellent technical experience and a great attitude to the internship.
I had expressed my apprehension with interns within an Information Technology
department but I am extremely happy with the overall outcome and [Intern]'s
performance.
Time management is a big one for [Intern]; however she has met all of our goals on
time. [Intern] is driven and stays on task, wants to put in work when the time comes. A
huge strength is her work ethic, if you give her a task she follows through.
[Intern] came into the internship with strong video story telling skills-- he improved
throughout the internship as well-- in this he is very strong. There is room for
improvement on attention to detail and focus. Tim was an excellent member of our
team and will be missed.
[Intern] was an excellent intern: eager, curious, enthusiastic and intelligent!
[Intern] came to us with a strong professional demeanor and a great attitude. His
communication skills are outstanding, both verbal and written. He has been generally
well-focused and excels in our competitive environment. He has also built what I expect
to be, long lasting and positive relationships with mentors and peers. [Intern] has
strong time management skills and seems to prefer a demanding work environment
although no task, no matter how menial, diminished his cooperation or enthusiasm.
Our entire team considers [Intern] our top intern over the past several years.
[Intern] is always willing to go the extra mile and is very dependable.
[Intern] was an integral part of our team and always managed to perform with a
positive attitude and an innate ability to come through in the face of difficult
circumstances. I will truly miss her as an intern.
[Intern] was an integral part of our team and always managed to perform with a

[Intern] became a strong force in the kitchen and was a delight to have on our team.
[Intern] was an integral part of our team and always managed to perform with a

Student has not completed any hours
[Intern] always brings a high energy level to the table, and has a lot of ideas for
improving the business. She has been very flexible in terms of her roles within the
company.
Her organization skill is pretty good. She could have more proactive with people.
[Intern] worked hard to learn fast and become a safe and competent guide in our
program.
[Intern] is a part-time employee in our Accounting Department. She dedicated a
portion of these hours for this internship and to learn/cross-train in a new job duty
processing a separate payroll for our new Veteran-Direct Home & Community Based
Service. She has been very focused on accuracy, promptness, and payroll procedures.
[Intern] 's hard work has paid off, and we feel confident in moving toward making this a
permanent part of her part-time position.
[Intern] was a hard worker from the beginning. She was self motivated and went out of
her way to help even with the most mundane experiences. She was up for any
challenge and in fact went out of her way to participate and increase her exposure to
contemporary art. She is young, and I believe this experience will help build her
experiences to work in the arts in the future.
[Intern] is a conscientious student and very interested and invested in the topic. She
clearly cared about meeting our objectives and making a valuable contribution to our
organization. We originally set several goals for this project, knowing that some might
not be met in this short time frame. [Intern] has volunteered to come back and work on
some of those in the future and we would be happy to have her involved as we move
forward. Over the course of this semester our organization has been working to open
our facility. As a result, I treated this internship as an independent study and relied on

[Intern] to take the initiative to move forward and contact me when she needed
feedback and guidance. She did a great job and these circumstances wouldn’t have
worked with a less motivated student.
We accepted [Intern] as an intern without knowing exactly how things were going to go
within our own organization (opening the facility and beginning school field trips).
Given [Intern]’s surgery during the semester and some delays in our own timeline, we
weren’t able to achieve our objectives over the course of this semester. However, we
have several dates planned for [Intern] to help with our field trips beginning May 18
and she is going to lead a program for our organization this summer. I feel confident
that we will achieve our objectives but can’t evaluate [Intern] at this time.
[Intern] is well-suited for a profession in community health. Personally, I would love to
see her find a career in Public Health. [Intern] is very industrious, reliable and exceeds
expectations in every assignment I have given her. Her commitment to health is
evident by her attitude, willingness to volunteer for health events beyond the scope of
her internship and ability to help the public apply health messages to their personal life.
I found that as the quantity of opportunities for public health speaking and interactions
at such events as health fairs increased, so did [Intern]’s confidence level. I also found
[Intern] to be competent in her research abilities and insightful as she sorted through
relevance to current projects.
[Intern] quietly became an important part of the team displaying poise under pressure,
dependability, commitment and reliability.
[Intern] is an excellent intern and has continually met or exceeded the requirements
and expectations of this job. He is currently actively working with the IT programmer of
the MT DNRC permit database to improve the program and correct several problems
with its current operation - this will aid all Montana Conservation Districts.
[Intern] is forward thinking and great with communication and problem solving. She
was exposed to event planning, public outreach and education, and helped with the
media. She is a fantastic public speaker and was enthusiastic about every task I threw at
her. An area to improve in is organization of tasks - there were one or two times I had
to gently remind her that I was waiting on something. I know she had this job, another
job and classes, all which are demanding and understood she had a lot on her plate.
[Intern] was an extremely hard worker. He stepped into a tough environment due to
the leadership change this fall in the department and the large amount of change that
was going on. He was very professional and helped out whenever possible. The entire
staff appreciated the work he did for us. [Intern] has a strong future and I hope
someday we have the opportunity to hire him.
[Intern] completed all assigned tasks in a timely manner. With a positive professional
attitude. [Intern] researched issues and found new ideas that led to the creation of new
MCPS training videos.
[Intern] is well-organized, dependable, and creative. He has done a great job helping us
build an image library, and the development of a 2015 Downtown Calendar for our
members and stakeholders is an exceptional product and outcome of his learning
experience with our organization.
[Intern] maintained interest and professionalism throughout the internship. She now
has a good grasp on what our organization is trying to accomplish and learned a lot
about economic development and community building aspects of a Downtown urban
setting. She was fantastic to work with and was very dependable. [Intern] will succeed
at whatever she pursues in life and continually came at this project with interest and
wanting to please. She modified her work from constructive feedback and helped with
a final product that organized our grant researching program. It has been a positive
experience for both of us.
[Intern] has been an excellent addition to our office this spring. She has always been
dependable, communicated well if she needed to adjust her schedule, presented
herself in a professional manner, was efficient and proficient, and was fun to work with.
We have a lot going on in the office and she was always willing to 'go with the flow' and
helped whenever and where ever she could. With so much going on in the office going
into our event season, she has been a huge help with coordinating various pieces of the
events. She was the lead volunteer coordinator for two of our events this spring and
she was fantastic. It isn't easy trying to coordinate over 150 volunteers and even
though she faced challenges getting people lined up, she was always professional and
when she wasn't sure how to handle a situation, she came to me and we came up with
a game plan. We wouldn't have been able to get the volunteers coordinated without
her.

I feel [Intern] has done a wonderful job this summer applying his learning to a new skill
set in the field. He has much to learn and I feel he is ready to face this challenge and
move forward with his training.
[Intern] IS FRIENDLY AND OUT GOING. SHE WAS CREATIVE AND HELPED WITH A
VARIETY OF PROJECTS.
[Intern] is passionate about improving the wellness of others. He is knowledgeable and I
have enjoyed working with him. [Intern] is very organized. I would like to see [Intern]
take more initiative.
[Intern] jumped right in and put in the time as an intern. She is super organized, open
to feedback and was always helpful. [Intern] is somewhat soft spoken and I would love
to see her come out of her shell more.
[Intern] was able to independently tackle the internship's objective. She did an
excellent job of taking the initiative to check in with us. The challenging thing with this
particular internship program is that interns are just 6 hours a week, which is not really
adequate time to become part of the “team”. I felt like I couldn't provide the necessary
guidance and support because her time in the office was so limited.
Self motivated, passionate, great at building relationships with the participants
[Intern] is incredibly reliable, flexible, and dependable. He has an internal motivation to
improve his leadership and skills. Most importantly he genuinely cares not only about
the programs but also about the participants.
[Intern] has been excellent in all areas. He is a quick study, enthusiastic, and
dependable. We love having him around!
[Intern] was charged with researching and procuring a high tech wireless router that
would have quad sim ability and would integrate with three complex software
packages. It was a difficult assignment and required complex networking skills as the
software for the router needed to be rewritten to work with our systems.
[Intern] is dependable, has a good attitude, well-spoken, and extremely flexible. Due to
no fault of his own, the big project he was assigned was delayed. He willingly stepped
up and did a great amount of work in a short period of time. We would gladly have
Austin return to work with us again.
[Intern 2] is dependable, has a good attitude, well-spoken, and extremely flexible. Due
to no fault of his own, the big project he was assigned was delayed. He willingly stepped
up and did a great amount of work in a short period of time. We would gladly have
[Intern 2] return to work with us again.
I appreciated having a great intern as I have not had one in a couple of years as the last
couple really burned me out. [Intern] had self-motivation and brought me back around
to be willing to take another intern. I appreciated the ideas brought forth by her and
was really happy to have her intern with us.
[Intern] did solid, consistent work for us. She definitely improved her reporting and
writing skills as the weeks went by, showing steady growth. She completed a very wide
variety of assignments, and contributed a number of ideas on her own. She is a hard
worker, and a fairly quick worker. She cranked out a lot of copy in just a few months.
Most importantly, that copy showed steady improvement over the weeks.
[Intern] came to the Missoulian well prepared. His stories were written to length and
always were finished before deadline. His copy was generally clean, with one major
exception: it’s vs. their agreement. It's something that most young writers struggle with
and something that UM teachers might want to better hammer into their students.
[Intern] was tasked with writing a lot of baseball and softball stories and did good work.
His use of baseball terms, however, could use a little work. [Intern] is ready for an
entry-level job as things stand now.
[Intern] came to the Missoulian with an excellent skill set and work ethic. She is
dependable, creative and enthusiastic. She quickly became an important part of the
Missoulian team and did a great job during her internship here.
[Intern] arrived in our newsroom with very “green” reporting and writing skills. She
definitely needs more mentoring and coursework in the [Department] before she's
ready for full-time employment in the field. We worked with her to steadily improve
her reporting and stories, but there is still a great deal of improvement needed. The
[Department] needs to pay a great deal more attention to working with all students on
basic writing skills: grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, AP style -- the basics that
still matter, whether it's a print age or a digital age. Those skills seem to be slipping in
the J School in recent years.
[Intern] wrote a very nice feature on a mountain biker and I regret not giving him more
feature-type stories to write. Because of the season, [Intern] ended up covering a lot of

baseball from Little League to the minor leagues. He needs a little better understanding
of the terminology of baseball, either by watching it on TV or reading more online and
in print. He displayed a good news instinct when the city of Missoula leveled a gravel pit
that bikers had been using that was brought to light in his feature story. He was ready
to follow up on the story, but one of the paper's full-time news reporters was given the
assignment by the editor. [Intern] was eager to help in any way he could and that will
serve him well when he begins his career.
[Intern] is an extremely talented young journalist who has great potential to contribute
to our field in the future. He completed a wide variety of assignments during his time at
the Missoulian, and did well with them all. He is least experienced at actually going out
and interviewing folks, but improved greatly in that area as we challenged him with
new and diverse assignments. He is a very solid reporter and writer who seeks out
critiques and actively responds to suggestions for improvement. We appreciated his
excellent work for our newspaper.
[Intern] is a gem as far as helping an organization grow. She is critical yet flexible.
[Intern] did a great job. He is good at learning and applying that to real world. Time
management/ communication can get better. Good now, but room for improvement
[Intern] was an incredible asset to our organization this summer. We will miss her
tremendously. Quite frankly, she was more productive, capable and enthusiastic that
some paid employees that I have supervised. She has a prodigious amount of talent for
many aspects of journalism, and a high level of energy to match. Her photography skills
were very strong from the outset, but she quickly learned how to tailor those skills for
newsprint. Her writing, which she was somewhat apprehensive about, improves
tremendously over the course of the summer, and she readily solicited absorbed and
implemented feedback. I encourage her to continue to push herself to improve her
writing, and I am confident she will. On top of all the technical ability, she has fabulous
people skills that allow her to readily gain the cooperation of her subjects and
coworkers. In the occasion that Bethany made any mistakes she took ownership of it
and welcomed the opportunity to learn from it. I couldn't be more proud of the job she
did for us, and look forward to staying in touch and following her progress. It would be
my please to recommend her with the highest confidence for any future positions that
she might seek.
[Intern] was very focused and attentive to the tasks and priorities of the internship.
[Intern] had lots of responsibilities helping coordinate a new program for us. He did a
great job of keeping his people on track while managing expectations of our project
partner.
[Intern] would stay until the work was done- and we could count on that. However, he
had an issue with being on time. I recommend he just prepare better for the times he
commits himself.
Incredibly hard working, will do any task asked of her, I have no suggestions for ways of
improvement.
[Intern] was able to reach out and easily start building a grassroots network around her.
[Intern] could improve most by managing her time, not overcommitting and becoming
stress within the work place.
[Intern] exhibited flexibility in a dynamic work setting. He frequently had to adapt to
changing conditions to complete his work objectives. He is professional and motivated.
[Intern] is a 'go to' person now in our organization. She has excellent time
management, excellent organizational and project management skills, and is a very
good writer. She has been able to take tasks from beginning to end and consistently
surpass our expectations. We have asked her to stay on throughout the end of the
calendar year.
[Intern] demonstrated a great willingness to be a team player, to work independently
and to take initiative with projects that required problem solving and critical thinking.
[Intern] is willing to accept new challenges. She actively listens and accepts advice,
critique and correction from her supervisor and peers. [Intern] was required to learn
and perform new tasks and duties. She developed expertise in sectioning catfish spines
with an Isomet saw, operating microscopes, ageing fish, hoop netting, mobile anode
electrofishing, operating PIT tag receiver stations, handling and tagging wild fish,
operating fyke nets, operating a jet boat, tagging hatchery fish, beach seining, minnow
seining, gill netting, processing data, managing a vehicle and working from a remote
field station with little to no direct technical supervision. [Intern] maintains
communication with her supervisor through email and phone calls.

Communicating with the public, requesting compliance, enforcing regulations, and
encouraging public participation with conservation measures is always a challenge.
[Intern]'s skills in all aspects of this challenge improved significantly. Some data retrieval
and documentation accuracy skills could be improved.
Highly motivated to learn!!!!
[Intern] has a strong interest in refining his field skills as a wildlife biologist as well as his
quantitative knowledge and abilities.

[Intern] is very personable, capable and a pleasure to work with.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks
Good communication skills and great attitude.
[Intern] was a leader on my Intern team who constantly stepped up to the plate to help
with office management. Multiple times he led the team in getting work done. [Intern]
also took the part of helping to train new interns because of his prior involvement as an
intern in 2012. [Intern] always asked questions and was on top of things. I cannot think
of any real challenges he faced, we are a better operation now because of his
involvement.
[Intern] is passionate about his work and is highly motivated. The major challenge in
this internship is it only lasts three months and cases often last years; although, the
work Ryan contributed and memorialized is highly beneficial to our cause.
[Intern] is very creative, and we were happy to put his talents to use! He's designing a
new exhibit for us, and did all the research, designs, and drawings himself. We're
excited to install it! [Intern] also worked on updating one of our educational trunks (on
wolves). He assisted with a couple of multi-day teacher workshops and did a great job
doing behind-the-scenes tasks, from washing dishes to starting fires to schlepping
supplies. He also had a chance to run a session for the teachers, and got some positive
feedback on that. [Intern] is a very hard-working, thoughtful, responsible person. The
one thing he could perhaps improve is his time tracking skills--just keeping us apprised
of how many hours he puts in at the end of each week--but he shows up when
scheduled and let us know any time he had a conflict and couldn't come in for his usual
hours. Most of our interns tend to work a lot with our kids' programs, but [Intern] 's
interests lie in a different direction, and it was great to see another interpretation of
what our internship can look like.
[Intern] came to us with a high skill set, particularly outstanding writing abilities. She
routinely went above and beyond what was asked of her with this internship. Frankly,
[Intern] knew more than some of my other paid staff and board of directors. She has a
high enough ability that I could off turn her loose unsupervised, knowing that the task
assigned would be done, and done well.
[Intern] is a hard worker and eager to accept any assignment or challenge presented to
him. He brings a great attitude to the work place. He listens to feedback but sometimes
struggles to process it and make the needed changes. He had some issues being
punctual and communicating about his schedule, but that did improve at the end. He
needs to work on concentrating and focusing during his feedback.
[Intern] was a great voice to have in our office. He worked hard, knew what he was
talking about, and always put his best foot forward. He was reliable and I could count
on him to complete a task. He was tasked with putting together a forum, which
required a lot of collaboration with other interns. I wish [Intern] would have voiced his
own opinions more; sometimes it seemed like he was willing to do what others had laid
in front of him. Hopefully in the future, after having this experience, he'll be able to
trust his gut and take more initiative.
[Intern] was great at understanding the sometimes complex situations &
communication that comes with radio. She was great at understanding & following
through with directions that I gave her. She always showed up on time and was able to
help with a lot of our after-hours & weekend events. She improved tremendously over
the semester-- in production, script writing, technical abilities, and on-air confidence.
[Intern] has been a blessing for the Montana Wilderness Association. Over the past
summer and in the prior months, he has put incredible time and energy into helping his
fellow veterans connect with one another and with Montana's wild public lands.
[Intern] harbors tremendous outdoor skills and knowledge, and he put it all on display
while he led eight day and overnight trips for Veterans in all corners of western
Montana. Tristan also demonstrated fantastic writing and speaking skills while
authoring op-eds and making presentations before large audiences. In March, [Intern]
was honored with a White House Champion of Change Award at a ceremony in
Washington, DC, for his work to engage veterans in public lands conservation. This

September, [Intern] spoke during a panel discussion on engaging the next generation of
Wilderness leaders at UM's conference on the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act.
In both appearances, [Intern] masterfully commanded the attention of his audience and
conveyed a powerful message about the value of wild public lands. Going forward, I
hope [Intern] continues to think creatively and critically about how he can leverage his
strengths - and more importantly, those of his peers - to better engage veterans in
Wilderness. [Intern] took the Montana Wilderness Association's Veterans Outreach
Program from 0-60 in the span of several months. The next step will be to recruit those
key volunteers and spokespeople who will help make the program sustainable in the
long term and reach the maximum audience possible. I look forward to continuing to
work with [Intern] to better connect veterans to their public land heritage, and to
raising their voices for Montana's wild places.
[Intern] brings a positive energy to MWAC and is great to have in the office day to day,
she is always enthusiastic and eager to participate and take more responsibility on. She
was invaluable for our biggest event of the year, Academic WorldQuest, and continues
to find ways she can impact MWAC. [Intern] continues to develop her ability to interact
with varied groups of people and professionally represent MWAC. She has shown great
strength in outreach and developing new ideas and programs. She is excellent at
approaching staff with ideas and suggestions to enhance and refine MWAC outreach
and branding. Event skills, promotion and organization are outstanding. [Intern] brings
a confidence and great attitude and is not afraid to tackle new projects. We are looking
forward to working with [Intern] on best utilizing her unique skills and strengths as she
finishes her last semester.
[Intern] brings an excellent Education background and skill set, as well as a passion for
international policy and global education. [Intern] shined at WorldQuest in developing
questions, team challenge, and iClicker support. She is an excellent public speaker and
her energy and enthusiasm is always valued in the office. [Intern] is fantastic. She was
invaluable for our biggest event of the year, AWQ, and continues to find ways she can
impact MWAC. We are looking forward to working with [Intern] on best utilizing her
unique skills and strengths as she finishes her last semester with MWAC.

[Intern] came in with a lot of organizing and other experience. To make sure that she
improved in other skills, we assigned her to a number of different projects that would
help with interpersonal communication and to make sure she had a fuller
understanding of working with nonprofits and activism. We gave [Intern] more
responsibility because of her experience, and during the midterm evaluation she said
she felt like she wasn't doing enough. It's that kind of attitude that made [Intern] a huge
asset to our organization! Some challenges she faced were not fully understanding
some of our issues, but throughout the internship she became more comfortable with
the issues and local politics.
[Intern] was given a very important job, since she was experienced in working with our
organization and we felt we could trust her with more responsibility. At times, she was
easily distracted and could distract other people in the office. I think she improved
throughout the semester and by the end was able to focus and make sure the work got
done. She always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face and was good at
communicating when she felt overwhelmed or needed more time to complete a task.
She was friendly and brought our team together well!
[Intern] has amazing interpersonal skills. She can really genuinely engage students on
the campaigns that we work on. She listens to who she talks to and comes back to the
office and lets us know about the response, including dissenting opinions. I saw [Intern]
become more familiar with the issues we worked with and saw her become
comfortable and understanding this issues more fully. She seemed to struggle a bit with
time management and saying “no,” but in the last week she has become better about

not taking on more than she can. She can get distracted in the office and talk about
semi-relevant issues, which are exciting and important but perhaps not the best use of
office hours. However, when it's crunch time, I know we can count on [Intern] to pull
through!
[Intern] came in with a great attitude - she was willing to put in the work and did
whatever tasks were required. She asked questions and was quick to learn and put
things together that are vital for our organization to function. [Intern] worked tirelessly
and was in the office every day over the winter session; she was dedicated,
dependable, and a hard worker. Now she has the skills to inspire positive, tangible
change and I hope she's learned to trust her gut! The biggest challenges she faced were
likely public speaking, everyone's least favorite task, as well as understanding the world
of politics. While I'm sure she can improve in both of these skill sets, she made great
progress and I hope she enjoyed it. [Intern] was great to have in the office; we would
have been lost without her!
[Intern] displayed the ability to adapt her communication skills based on the needs of
the customer. Portrait photography demands both an understanding of the equipment
you shoot with, and positive interaction with the client. After hiring and working with
countless employees over nearly a decade, I can honestly say that [Intern] learned to
deliver quality photos in a timely manner as good as or better than my best employees;
the clients were left feeling satisfied with their pictures and their experience. The mark
of a good photographer is to capture a timeless moment. The mark of a GREAT
photographer is to make that moment. [Intern] certainly created and captured nearly
every moment she was working with a customer. If anything, [Intern] may occasionally
get a little too caught up in the moment- periodically forgetting to “set up” the shot
while engaging with the client. Every employee has been guilty of this at some point in
the booth, however [Intern] could certainly benefit from learning to focus her energy
with a steady, consistent pace and routine- no matter how long the line or difficult the
client.
Reliable, competent, positive, always willing to meet the needs, creative, timely, selfimproving, written, overall amazing student.
The [Intern] came to the position with good web/computer skills and a background in
natural resources. He was challenged with organizing and managing time to meet
expectations of multiple projects with limited time. Each of these projects required a
balance of leadership and working with many other parties. Stepping into a working
relationship with other experienced professionals and playing a leadership role is
challenging and although the intern performed well, more time and experience in this
role will help improve this skill.
Strengths-Dependable-Great attitude-hard worker-good GIS skillset ImprovementsConfidence-This just comes with more experience. If you know of a better idea, let the
supervisor know. Most supervisors should welcome new/better ways of doing things.
[Intern] is highly motivated and she worked well independently. She showed flexibility
in scheduling of tasks and managed her time well. She did not hesitate to take on new
activities and learned quickly. Her skills will improve with experience.
[Intern] is exceptionally organized and consistently takes initiative. She has very strong
people skills and conducts herself with a great deal of maturity and professionalism.
[Intern] was challenged when we had a survey vendor that failed to process some
critical data. She had to shift gears quickly and was willing to buckle down and spend
the whole day coding data, which was tough. But she had a great attitude and did a
wonderful job. Occasionally I noticed some typographical errors in [Intern]’s written
work. She could perhaps improve by either taking a bit more time to review drafts for
mistakes, or asking another colleague to edit her writing.
[Intern] had multiple strengths that made her an asset to the program; overall she has a
wonderful personality and gets along with others.
Punctual, honest and hardworking without complaint. Worked in many diverse in-filed
situations and generally excelled at each one.
I think [Intern] did an excellent job of learning and creatively applying Google Forms to
help people navigate through the mental illness treatment system. This is a very
innovative use of Google Forms and there is currently no one in the world applying it to
the mental illness treatment system like [Intern]. [Intern] built her confidence through
this process and she will continue to build it by completing additional real world
projects.
[Intern] did a very good job here. He is personable, learned quickly, and did all things
asked of him. He will only improve with experience, and I plan on having him back.

It is difficult for me to fully evaluate at this time. [Intern] had two tasks for me this
semester. The first was to present Native American traditional games to K-12 students
during American Indian Heritage Day. He did an excellent job with this. He worked well
with the public, was innovative and dependable in preparing the games, and was able
to draw on his extensive cultural knowledge. His larger task is to complete a K-12 lesson
plan based on these games. He has been in contact with me about this but has yet to
complete it due to family health issues. His performance on this task will no doubt
change (most likely improve) my answers to other parts of this survey.
[Intern] 's ability to be flexible with complex problems was essential and he became a
vital asset to the organization.
[Intern] has been an incredible asset to NCBI. [Intern] has excelled in her role, focusing
on multiple essential aspects of NCBI including; communications, marketing, fund and
donor development, and direct service with Missoula youth. [Intern] has helped to
foster key community partnerships and played an integral role in our large community
fundraiser and our community events, MLK Jr. Celebration and Diversity Day. [Intern]
has a very thoughtful and thorough approach to learning. She is driven, inspired,
positive, brilliant, and fun to work with.
[Intern] is a great team player. She is able to see what needs to be done, and does it
well. She works well independently, as well as with others. She is able to follow
instructions, utilize feedback, and take initiative. She has gone above and beyond to
seek out opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to the organization.
[Intern] is hardworking and his willingness to travel outside Kathmandu to quakeravaged districts showed his commitment towards telling stories. Despite not speaking
the local language, [Intern] was able to land interviews with sources on his own and
required little help from the editorial staff with assignments.
[Intern] has been an amazing asset to our program. We have really benefited from her
ideas and her commitment for our clients. She has really become one of the leaders at
New Directions.
[Intern] has been a great asset to our program. She brought her organizational skills
and her business skills to our program. Her past experience was very beneficial for her
in our environment.
I was very impressed by [Intern]’s excellent public speaking skills. He did a lot classroom
presentations on study abroad. He also took initiative to develop a handbook for
students making a classroom prevention of the challenges for [Intern] was the good
communication with the other interns, with the Study Abroad Coordinator, and the
Director
[Intern] had strong connections with the international student community. Sometimes
deadlines were demanding
[Intern] was very dependable and she had a lot of initiative. The challenge for [Intern]
was that she had not studied abroad and could not always relate to students when they
asked her questions.
[Intern] was very good in communicating his enthusiasm for study abroad to students.
He also took the initiative in preparing boards for departments with study abroad
information. [Intern] had to work on him communication and time management skills,
and well as on his dependability.
[Intern] has a lot of initiative and she is very passionate about international education.
The challenge has sometimes been the work volume. However, the communication
between her and the other people who work in the study abroad office has been very
good.
[Intern] was a fantastic intern. He has a lot of initiative, and he is very creative. [Intern]
said himself that his challenge was sometimes how to be creative. [Intern] will be
returning as an intern for spring 2015 semester.
[Intern] is incredibly personable and outgoing. He jumped right into every task he was
assigned with verve and inquisitiveness. It is obvious he loves to learn because he takes
great interest in everything he does.
[Intern] has shown great initiative and the ability to work independently on projects.
He is not afraid to learn new tasks and will try even the most daunting of task with a
smile.
[Intern] exhibited very strong technical skills and helped us with several website related
projects and developing a power point with voice recording for the website. He also
started new social media sites for our office. The internship aligned very well with his
interest in mixed media.

[Intern] 's strengths were her creativity and dependability. [Intern] 's challenge was the
communication with other interns.
She was able to express her creativity when interviewing returned study abroad
students for blogs. Her most recent interview had 243 viewers in one day. She also
learned marketing and advertising skills as well as organizational skills when planning
and arranging her work. She liked having set goals for each week. [Intern] was very goal
oriented and got things done.
The challenge [Intern] faced was the communication with other interns and learning
how to use new computer programs. [Intern] 's strength is definitely her reliability.
Strengths: creating educational presentations for youth Challenges: taking directions
from people, following instructions, feeling uncomfortable conducting a risk reduction
counseling session
[Intern] learned to deal with the public and all their differing attitudes, our doctors, and
all staff. She gained tons of experience in the healthcare industry.
[Intern] has good communication skills and is evolving as a developer. The only thing
[Intern] needs is just more time working as a developer.
Tons of strengths (team work, communication, positive attitude, etc...). More time in a
commercial software/technology environment will only further [Intern]'s already large
skill set.
[Intern] listened to and followed directions well and took the initiative to work
independently and beyond the scope of what I was asking him to do. He showed great
character and work ethic and I trust his work fully. I would encourage him to continue
to broaden his work and learning experiences.
[Intern] showed a great work ethic and eagerness to get involved. She took initiative to
contribute and was willing to take on any tasks that were asked of her. I would
encourage [Intern] to continue to engage in experiences that will broaden her
knowledge of biological field work, data collection, and analysis.
[Intern] had been working part-time for the Partnership for Children for 9 months
before starting his internship. Since then he has become more involved in the
Treatment Plans of the children in our care. [Intern] has participated in supervision and
was able utilize the feedback provided by his supervisor. He is able to see the children’s
underlying needs and approaches them at their individual emotional age. He has
become increasingly more confident and independent in these situations as he has
developed an understanding of his role and capabilities. [Intern] is working on
developing the skill of balancing structure and limits with unconditional nurturance and
spontaneous fun. He will need to utilize the support of his co-workers and supervisor in
order to develop those more balanced relationships with the children in our care. His
paperwork is well thought out and turned in on time. Logan was offered a full-time job
as an attachment Counselor and accepted the position.
[Intern] is highly inquisitive and eager to learn new things. She is very creative and is
not intimidated by assigned tasks that are not familiar to her. She gives it her all, every
day!
[Intern] was a great asset to helping me with the 1st Health Fair at the Peak. She has
strong communication and organizational skills.
Very positive, hard worker, professional
[Intern] 's greatest strength is his great attitude and willingness to do whatever needs
to be done to ensure a successful and smooth operation. His energy and enthusiasm is
contagious and he is a great asset around the office or on the trail. He suffered a
sprained ankle injury early in the summer yet was still able to conduct a thorough four
day training trek and was able to get into the backcountry in order to support and
observe his Rangers in action. [Intern] also coached one of his younger Rangers who
exhibited poor social skills and helped the staff member grow as a communicator and
outdoor educator. Eli could further improve by being more confident in him. He was a
little hesitant to start the summer but ended up surprising us by being one of our most
reliable, hardest working, and responsible Ranger Trainers. He did an excellent job with
us this summer and we would love to have him back in the future.
As a nascent organization, [Intern] was right alongside with us experiencing many of the
favors and follies of our growing pains. She demonstrated a graceful worth ethic no
matter the task at hand. The work and living accommodations with Pio Pio were not the
most glamorous; [Intern] was required to live outside in a tent for three months and
work tasks often included digging holes, mixing mud plasters, and hammering wood
frames. I believe that [Intern] had a unique ability to recognize a learning opportunity in
everything she did, and it was this dedication to her education that made our time with

her so positive. [Intern]’s dedication to learning was demonstrated in her determination
and ability to learn new skills. On a daily basis I saw her tackle projects with
perseverance that required new communication and problem solving skills, cultural
understanding, and even hard skills like dexterity and hand-eye coordination. I noticed
remarkable improvements in these skills over the course of the three months together.
Moreover, she maintained a good sense of humor and positivity that was not often
matched by our other volunteers and students. Even on our most challenging days, I
could look to [Intern] for a good laugh and smile. One skill [Intern] could improve is her
ability to plan projects - understanding time frames, setting goals, and general
coordination.
[Intern] 's strengths include her adaptability to a diverse range of challenges,
perseverance to stay focused on the task at hand, communication skills, patience, and
motivation to accomplish a level of success beyond the basic requirements. [Intern]
faced many challenges during her internship including language barriers, extreme
cultural differences, as well as a difficult work environment due to climate conditions
and the physical demands of the work in which she was involved. Despite all of these
challenges, she maintained a professional and positive attitude that resulted in a very
high level of productivity. The only way I can see that [Intern] could improve her skills
would be to continue to improve her Spanish speaking skills to further assist in her
ability to communicate with the local population.
[Intern] is a very personable and positive student intern. He expresses compassion and
concern for our patient's well-being. [Intern] could improve in public speaking when
teaching a group in the clinical setting. He is a smart, young man that could be more
intuitive and confident; especially since he seems to be a quick learner.
[Intern] is an overcommitted person. She is interested in many things and this can be a
bit overwhelming. If [Intern] can figure out how to not overcommit and share this
information so others can learn from it, she will help many.
[Intern] strengths were communication and teamwork. He was consistently described
as social glue that held the crew together. As a hard worker, he was a role model for
many of the crew members with less experience. His charisma and demeanor in the
field were infectious. Areas of improvement for [Intern] would be his professionalism
with supervisors and leadership skills. [Intern] is a strong passive leader, but his active
leadership, in regards to assertiveness and authority could be improved. With this little
bit of growth, [Intern] would be welcomed back next year for a leadership position.
[Intern] did well at listening to and incorporating feedback, came in with a positive
attitude, and worked hard. My only complaint would be the many times he emailed
about not being able to make it in that day, and some rushed & rough drafts he sent on
occasion.
[Intern] 's strengths are when she comes in she gets a lot of work done in a short
amount of time. She does need to work on Communicating when she is not able to
make it in or needs to reschedule
Able to adapt to fast paced environment and apply skill set to projects to be completed.
[Intern] is a goal oriented individual who maintains a high level of focus and desire.
Although job shadowing and mentoring were part of her internship there was also a
heavy amount of administrative duties she fulfilled without any trouble.
[Intern] ‘S work was very good. He completed almost three dozen articles and
slideshows, and did so in a timely and efficient manner. Most of that work was assigned
to him, but Austin also developed and completed several ideas on his own. He also
contributed to our social media efforts, and performed general web site maintenance
tasks. A couple of general observations: -- [Intern] was very inquisitive, asking lots of
questions about Runner's World's operations, magazines, the media industry, my
career, etc. This is always a good sign - it shows an engaged mind and an active
disposition. He stood out from other interns in this way.-- [Intern] still is developing his
reporting and writing skills, and he needs to continue to improve, specifically in areas of
story structure and in the basics of grammar and usage. His deficiencies in these areas
are not substantial, but rather typical of others with his level of experience. I'm
confident he will improve as he gains experience.
She was reliable and followed direction well
[Intern] was able to improve her ability to identify heart rate and rhythm strips in
addition to blood pressure assessment.
Very reliable. More time could have been spent reviewing patient charts and learning
about patient conditions to prepare him for the ACSM exam.

[Intern] was excellent to work with this summer. She demonstrated a great deal of
personal drive and the ability to work autonomously, both attributes Salt Lake City
appreciates with any intern. [Intern] conveys a very professional and mature presence.
This was demonstrated through interpersonal interactions and the dependability she
sustained throughout the internship. Overall, [Intern] is a very dynamic individual and I
believe her skillset and interests are applicable to an array of sustainability issues and
career paths. I would recommend that she continue seeking experiences that broaden
her exposure to the various facets of sustainability, including quantitative / technical
analysis and business sustainability Best Practices. [Intern] is clearly a capable and
smart individual. Combine those attributes with her enduring curiosity and
commitment to learning and she has the potential evolve into a special contributor in
the field of sustainability.
[Intern] is very adaptable to any situation that came to the office. She is a team player.
She is flexible and willing to get her feet wet with any situation. She was very
comfortable with all the staff and worked with many different departments of our
center
She is a rapid learning with a lot of potential. Easy to work with and strong
communication skills base. A good background of prior instruction and training and
what we did in the internship was immediately applicable to her current classes and
future work.
[Intern] has shown a lot of initiative during his internship. He is happy to take on
difficult tasks and has completed everything that has been asked of him. Sometimes his
ambition might cloud his judgment as related to developing reasonable personal and
work production expectations.
[Intern] is a very motivated individual. He seeks out tasks without direction and
completes them with very little oversight. [Intern] worked well within a diverse and
dynamic work environment.
[Intern] has a very creative mind and strong work ethic. She was open to learning about
social media in a business and took several web seminars on the subject. She has strong
communication skills and excellent written skills. She needs to improve her time
management skills but I strongly believe that will improve as her employment
experience grows. She is a great asset to us.
[Intern] has been great. He is still very young (in terms of Finance academic exposure),
but has learned necessary information VERY quickly. Pleasure to work with - very
competent.
[Intern] has done a great job over the period of time he has been here - and continues
to improve and look to grow.
I am very impressed with [Intern]’s ability to learn a new task quickly. She has been a
valued asset in my office. She has a great attitude toward work.
Very good work ethic, the work was not always fun but there was never any
complaining, all of my customers really enjoyed [Intern], [Intern] brought an elevated
level of organization that wasn't there before
[Intern] listened well and has made big efforts to try to improve where his
skills/experience was lacking.
[Intern] was always learning from his experiences on the job as well as other crew
members' experiences. He could learn protocols the first time they were presented to
him and would not need any further assistance to get the job done. [Intern] had to
handle live animals in adverse weather conditions while still being held responsible for
his duties. He was able to contribute to other crew members work which really
increased crew efficiency. We had to plan and organize schedules between 7 different
crew mates in 3 different states. I think he really benefited in his wildlife career by
being able to be as hands on with the Hare project as he wanted and took away a better
appreciation of how important transparency and communication is in field work. I know
[Intern] will keep getting better and better as he gains more field experience.
[Intern] is brilliant with her marketing and business management skills. The renewable
energy/ small business sector creates challenges for everyone. [Intern] faced the
challenge of trying to boost foot traffic through our retail store and came up with some
awesome ideas and plans. She can improve her skills by going out in the field and
installing systems, however this is not something we allow our interns to participate
with until they are employees and covered under Worker's Comp.
She is a very positive and upbeat person with a phenomenal work ethic and dedication
to the Project’s Mission to inspire curiosity about the inner workings of the brain. She
brought enthusiasm, organization and cohesiveness to the Project. She always arrived

energized for weekly meetings and she was very accessible and readily volunteered to
do tasks. She completely understood her roles in the project as educator, role model,
mentor and student and she excelled in each role. As a student and educator, her openmindedness enabled her to veer away from lecturing people to conversing with them,
asking them open-ended questions to engage them in their learning experience at the
BrainLab. She became proficient in the techniques of informal science education and
conversational learning for all ages. [Intern] is a kind hearted, out-going individual and
she is able to put our museum guests at ease while explaining complex scientific
concepts. She often has a crowd of guests around her at the BrainLab. She is also a pro
at handling questions that are out of the scope of the day’s activities and she allows and
guides the guests (children and adults) as they explore. As a role model and mentor,
she courageously jumped into experiments testing the nerve cells in cockroaches and
was successful in encouraging our very reluctant high school student interns to
participate as well. [Intern] was also solely responsible for mentoring one of our middle
school interns. She did an excellent job engaging with her student and always found fun
neuroscience activities to do, keeping the middle school student coming back each
week for more. Her responsibilities also included making multiple educational slide
shows and leading educational classes for the high school interns. During these
projects, she kept me up to date on her ideas and progress all the while working and
setting deadlines for herself entirely on her own accord. She is very knowledgeable
about the inner workings of the brain and often takes the initiative to find accurate
scientific information on her own time. Being able to explain scientific concepts to
children and laymen is a skill that does not come easily to an expert in a scientific field.
Alexandra now possesses the skills and toolbox and is far ahead of her peers, and most
likely some of her professors, in her ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, a
trait that will serve her extremely well.
[Intern] has great written communication skills and was willing to take on new
challenges. I appreciated her flexibility on projects and working independently on
projects. The only area to improve is to communicate with her supervisor if running
late. Other than that she has been a wonderful asset to the CATCH program.
Willingness to learn. Worked well on his own.
I mostly put agree because [Intern] came to us with a strong skillset that frankly
didn't need much improvement. She is a very good listener, self-starter needing little or
no direction, and very dependable.
[Intern] had to train and become competent in DNA analysis differential extraction.
This is one of the most complex techniques used in forensic DNA analysis. She has a
high capacity for learning and a dedication to getting the job done right and on time.
[Intern] has self motivated and asks questions at key points during the experimental
process. Her knowledge of the necessary lab procedures for our project obviated the
need for extensive training. She presented a complete experimental plan and has
worked with a great attitude!
[Intern] is very good intern. She is eager to learn and to apply the concepts she is
learning at school. Her writing skills are great and she has strived to learn journaling and
the paperwork associated with the job. She is very much an advocate for the clients we
serve. She does need to better balance work versus home issues. While this has been a
concern, it has not been an issue. It is understandable that sometimes she has focused
on issues outside of this worksite in that this is an unpaid internship.
This was the first time [Intern] has worked in a position where he had to be accountable
for his schedule and reasonable for small children and their safety. He needed to speak
with parents on how their child's day was during their ski lesson. He had to wear a
uniform and keep himself looking professional. I feel [Intern] learned a lot in
Steamboat. Just to see how a large company works was good for him.
[Intern] did a great job leading kids through the technical maze of becoming self
sufficient rock climbers. He received great experiences to teach, publicly speak, event
planning, and leadership responsibility. He was especially solid at adapting to each
individual. If looking to improve, we'd possibly setup a deeper expectation of
communicating with the non-profit board.
[Intern] has done a great job of taking on leadership at SARC through helping to lead
the student group Advocates for Non-Violence and especially taking leadership in the
planning of a big upcoming event called Lovefest. I would say that I would like to see
her improve on her dependability in terms of being in the office, but I know that she
does a lot of work outside of the office.
[Intern] is very dependable and an extremely hard worker. When she starts a project

she does her best to get it done. She is conscientious and has improved greatly in her
ability to work with people in crisis and be a good active listener.
[Intern] is great about taking on new tasks with a good attitude. He is very technically
adept and usually has no problem troubleshooting new issues. I think he's still working
on word use and grammar a bit in the way of his written communication.
[Intern] is highly motivated and very intelligent. She has been working in SAIT since
before her internship and I feel that some of the areas I disagreed with above weren't
necessarily that she lacks those skill, but rather that she hasn't grown them this
semester. Those topics are fairly well addressed, but it seems to me that Kori has
plateaued in some areas.
[Intern] is very flexible and easy going. I did, however, have a hard time getting him to
take initiative. I tried many times to give him the opportunity to assign him work that he
would enjoy, stretch his thinking, and allow him to learn new skills, but I found that he
wasn't very reliable unless I had him do very specific (and mostly tedious) tasks. This
was confusing since he expressed interest in creative tasks and assignments throughout
the internship. [Intern] was very helpful for our organization, but I wish that he would
have expressed more enthusiasm.
[Intern] has done a great job for us at Target. She has been able to further develop her
leadership skills as well as drive results for our business. She has been a huge asset to
our store and business.
[Intern] is very good at self direction and organizational skills. It is not easy to come into
our work environment - there is a lot of programming happening at once. I feel [Intern]
is very good at adapting to new assignments and carries out her duties in a positive
way.
[Intern] has done a great job in taking initiative throughout the internship and really
utilizing all the resources she has to complete each task that is asked of her. We have
been pleased with her work so far!
[Intern] came to me with many strengths and skills, so in many ways I saw her use the
knowledge and expertise she already had rather than seeing specific areas of growth.
[Intern] had an abundance of experience working with youth before she came to me,
and I was lucky to have such an experienced and seasoned person who came to me to
use skills she already possessed. [Intern] was an excellent intern and a huge help to me
during the time that she was assisting me.
I am the interim Flagship coordinator b/c Becky Moody went on FMLA, but [Intern] has
done a fantastic job communicating with me. She is responsible, friendly and kind.
[Intern] was great to work with. He was very flexible, and did whatever was needed. He
adapted well to various situations and the students really liked him.
[Intern] came to our site with a great set of skills and performed admirably. I think she
faced some challenges assimilating into a small crew community when she arrived, but
throughout her time here she grew in valuable sectors like
timeliness/dependability/flexibility, communication, assertiveness, and technical ability.
She continues to show improved initiative in Missoula and I think this was a great
experience for her, and definitely one for us.
[Intern] was really great at jumping in to new projects and new concepts. He was a
quick learner- but also not afraid to ask questions when needed.
Able to overcome interpersonal challenges. Witnessed improvement of communication
skills from day 1 to [Intern]'s last day.
Very organized, paid close attention to detail. Very effective use of his time.
[Intern] jumped right in with our support role, providing essential support to our animal
care volunteers who were overly taxed this spring/summer with a record number of
patients. [Intern] was flexible, enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable, which was
immensely appreciated. She also worked well with a variety of volunteer crew
supervisors, embracing differences in crew operating structure but always finding a
niche to help with.
[Intern] wants to learn. He seeks out help when he has a question, but is very ready to
incorporate instruction. He applies his school based learning to the workplace and then
asks additional questions. [Intern] also is willing to step outside his designated
assignments to help with something else which is why he has the additional hours. He
will man phones, help with building projects, and attend additional trainings with a
willing and positive attitude.
She was able to adapt to changes quickly. Flexibility was a key to her success.
[Intern] is a self-starter who shows great promise as a reporter and writer. His copy is

[Intern] is a great intern. She is creative, punctual, and reliable. She is great at taking
direction. I hope she continues pushing her creativity further.
[Intern] is incredibly well organized. Her scheduled shifts are particularly stressful and
demanding. She continues to work with enthusiasm and consistency despite long shifts.
[Intern] has never been afraid to ask for help and is always willing to do even the most
menial projects. Lastly, [Intern] never hesitated to come into work on the weekends
(her days off) in order to learn additional skills and experience extra projects that are
typically done only on weekends.
[Intern] showed great improvement in many areas during his time at Townsquare
Media (as shown above), but one area that seemed to be a persistent struggle was
reliability. He started strong in his ability to work with audio, but had difficulty with
writing, though he improved greatly over time. He was good with systematic tasks that
could be done the same way each time, but struggled with some of the more creative
elements of the job, again in this area there was improvement. The biggest challenge
for any employer working with [Intern] would be reliability. [Intern] would regularly not
appear at work when he was expected, and thus left important tasks unfinished. This
problem continued to occur up through the late weeks of the internship even after two
face-to-face discussions with management over the issue.
[Intern] has shown a tremendous improvement in reporting, word efficiency, and
knowledge of video and audio production. Compared to her previous internship, things
seemed a bit more fluid and the awareness was sharpened with her experiences.
[Intern] was very good with communication and using common sense
[Intern] is very good at meeting people and presents a positive attitude nearly all the
time. [Intern] 's time was limited this summer due to a conflicting class and a death in
the family, but she worked around those issues and put in her required amount of time.
She was adequately prepared for the position, but she could have been more proactive
in researching the various aspects of our particular programs and research before
arriving. Overall, she quickly became a valuable staff member, and she is very good at
what she does. We hope to hire her once her schooling is complete.
[Intern] was a fantastic intern for the Udall Foundation's Parks in Focus program. She
worked remotely in Montana (PIF is based in Arizona) and built and maintained strong
relationships with our partner organizations in Montana: the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Missoula, the Flathead Reservation and Lake County as well as the Glacier Institute and
Glacier National Park. If our program had the funding to hire full time staff in Montana,
we would most certainly offer Courtney a position with us. We hope to work with
Courtney again next summer.
[Intern] is a very strong all around professional. She doesn't really have any
deficiencies, at least not ones unexpected for someone her age.
[Intern] was perfect for this internship as she allowed us to determine the trajectory of
the publications but brought in her expertise to fill out the details of the designs. She
made sure to ask specific questions about what we wanted and followed up with
questions about what needed to be changed in the drafts she created. She would
always listen to our concerns and make the appropriate changes in the drafts. Really
the only challenge we faced was making sure that she had enough to do for the
required 48 hours of internship. She finished projects so quickly and precisely, it was
amazing how much she could get done and done well in a short time!
[Intern] is extremely organized, detail-oriented and friendly. She worked extremely
well with the other interns and was also open to ideas. She gained experience in
planning and implementing hands-on projects and I think she enjoyed building things.
Several times she went beyond expectations with her outside of meeting time work.
[Intern] was enthusiastic and interested in whatever project us through his way. We
were flexible and engaged, while working well with the other interns. He
communicated well with us and worked well independently.
[Intern] worked well with all of our team, taking up projects and tasks as they came
up. He was able to juggle several different things as he worked on outreach efforts with
Freecycles and Garden City Harvest for us while also being included on the large
internship project. He was easy to communicate with, worked well with everyone. He
had to problem-solve with constructing and building things on the property.
[Intern] holds herself accountable for her work performance. She wants to do a great
job, and puts her personal stamp on the projects she manages. [Intern] has showed
growth in her ability to lead a group of students. As a Call Center supervisor, she gained

confidence in her knowledge of the University and its Foundation. This resulted in her
leadership skills coming to the forefront and serving as a mentor and coordinator
among callers. I would like to see Jane step outside of her comfort zone more often
when it comes to acting on her own ideas for projects/solutions. I trust [Intern]'s ability
to carry out projects, especially those that she's put her personal touches on. She's a
truly talented and charismatic individual, and she will be hired as a Call Center
supervisor for the upcoming semester.
[Intern] could work on his self-motivation and ability to work independently (although
this improved throughout the semester). He could also be a little more dependable.
Once I got him going on a project, he was responsible to get it completed on time
though. That was strength.
[Intern] is very smart and has good problem solving skills. I appreciate that she can work
with minimal supervision once trained on something.
[Intern] is very dependable and self-motivated. The only area for improvement would
be scheduling/communication; but this is a weakness only because of her independent
nature and ability to work without supervision (both positives!)
A bulk of the internship's work hours were on the weekends, which can be tough on a
student, especially a senior with a heavy class load leading up to graduation. [Intern]
was reliable and committed to what he signed up for, which has not always been the
case with our interns. His biggest challenge, beyond working every weekend from
February through early May, was learning a softball statistics program with almost zero
guidance. He did great. I would have liked to have pushed him more with additional
writing assignments, but he and I were both maxed out on our time during the spring
semester to do much more than both of us were doing.
Self-motivated, disciplined, organized; time constraints with my recruiting travel that
kept me away from the office at certain times - [Intern] kept herself on task, stayed in
communication with me, and met deadlines. I was very pleased and impressed with her
work. She even went beyond required duties and requested work in some areas.
The challenges of the project consisted of working and living with a small group in a
remote field camp, intensive physical demands, staying alert and upbeat during
redundant work, adapting to different unpredictable events, learning a new set of skills,
and following protocol to the letter. The intern showed an ability to overcome all these
challenges of the project while improving and keeping a positive attitude throughout.
She was essential to the success of the project. Being a quick learner and on the toes
thinker really helped this individual stand out. [Intern] always went the extra mile and
did all that was asked of her. I think the best way for her to keep improving would be to
continue to gain valuable hands on experience in the field. She is dedicated to doing so,
and I feel will be very successful in any future avenue she decides to travel down.
[Intern] has very strong problem-solving skills; she approaches any problem with logic
and reasoning to find a solution. She is also methodical and careful with data recording.
Occasionally the physical requirements of the work were challenging for her-bridge
surveys sometimes required negotiating difficult, steep terrain in variable weather
conditions. For the most part [Intern] met these challenges, and toward the end of the
internship had improved at these physical challenges. [Intern] can and will improve by
being out in the field and facing field conditions more!
Based on my experience in working with [Intern], she possess a strong work ethic,
perseverance, motivation, and strong interpersonal and educational skills. The time
spent analyzing data and creating map products hopefully provided her an experience
for her educational development, as well as, real life expectations. Continued time
spent in developing map products will further her capabilities in the GIS realm.
[Intern] worked to apply her knowledge to further organizational goals. She was always
willing to pitch in, and get another experience. As she has worked with us, and
increased her understanding of our work (and the organization), she has been able to
apply more problem solving and initiative. She has been a joy to work with.
[Intern] consistently demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism,
flexibility and an overall commitment to being as helpful as possible while advocating
for his own learning experiences. Challenges existed as there were not many
opportunities for him to observe and then discuss therapist/patient treatments or
evaluations. He was able, however, to do some observation with our PT Students and
Clinical Instructors during the ProBono Clinic, which I think was very helpful for him.
[Intern] has a great attitude and improved writing/PR skills. She was very
communicative throughout her internship, and flexible with our company’s crazy
schedule. I would have liked to see more initiative from her as a busy summer kept me

traveling, and I wasn't able to be around as much as I would have liked. She certainly
did what was requested, but I am always looking for people who go beyond that.
Overall though, she did a good job, and I wish her the best in her future career!
[Intern] is very professional and had tremendous knowledge around the subject area.
He was very active in learning new trends in the topic.
[Intern] displayed many strengths including his ability to think abstractly and also his
propensity to be creative in areas requiring flexible problem solving. [Intern] was open
to reassessing and rethinking his strategy and end goal through every stage of planning.
[Intern] exhibited a strong willingness to get involved and assumed immediate
responsibility in his internship roll. In addition to his enthusiasm [Intern] was well
prepared for each group planning meeting and brought noteworthy input which was
valuable in creating our end product
[Intern] is a great part of the Student Involvement Network team. He did a great job
serving as the student director. He worked well with minimal supervision, and made our
jobs easier. He needs to improve a bit on his interpersonal skills with his peers. To
remember that he is a peer, not a direct supervisor. [Intern] will do great work in
student affairs in the future. His passion and drive for the profession will take him far.
[Intern] is very self motivated and takes responsibility for task completion.
[Intern] is very committed to international education. Communication is a challenge in
this office.
[Intern] worked hard to understand a system of gov't that is complex and confusing. He
asked excellent questions. Anticipated needs prior to hearings and he developed
excellent personal relationships with many legislators. He exceeded expectations.
Excellent job! Outstanding representative of the University of Montana.
[Intern] has been a very dependable intern. He is always willing to do more than what I
have asked of him. He has shown me that he has a passion for this field and ready for
his next experience in the field. The next challenge for [Intern] will be when he gets to
be in charge of his own large training group. I think he has prepared himself well for
that opportunity.
Intern arrived on time and showed initial enthusiasm for the work week. He worked
independently and generally followed directions to proficiently complete tasks. The
intern had challenges with interpersonal communication and working with parts of the
crew. In the future, the intern should work on communication and have more
experience working with people in diverse conditions.
She is talented and efficient. However, sometime she needs to be more proactive.
The internship was good because it showed her that this profession is probably not the
career choice for her. She needs to find something that she truly enjoys. She can have
low energy and poor body language. She can do a better job of being upbeat and
positive and truly showing that she wants to be there.
[Intern] is a meticulous and conscientious worker.
The intern exhibited highly analytical abilities that contributed to successful job
performance.
The intern has excellent detail-oriented and organization skills.
The intern was always ready and willing to accept any task assigned, but needed
constant supervision to ensure that the tasks were completed properly.
This intern is very detail-oriented, reliable, and conscientious in completed her assigned
tasks.
This intern is very reliable and capable of taking on complex tasks with confidence.
This intern was very detail-oriented and conscientious. Her written skills are
exceptional.
This student has gained confidence in learning new tasks and working in an unfamiliar
setting.
This student worked diligently and expertly at her assigned project and demonstrated a
professional dedication to completing her project by volunteering extra hours for the
purpose.
This student's problem solving skills and meticulous attention to detail were especially
evident in the work he did as an intern for the UMACF.
[Intern] has a lot of passion and interest in aquaponics systems. He did a great job of
taking on new research projects related to our future aquaponics system. [Intern]'s

[Intern] was dependable, driven and interested in the work.
[Intern] did really well in composing thoughtful and engaging posts to help convey our
experiences in Nashville. She did a great job of relaying the excited energy and student
opportunities.
Strengths included knowledge, dependability, initiative, positive attitude and many
others. This is a challenging work environment having to deal with unusual hours,
traveling, last minute scheduling changes, and managing other students and studentathletes. I thought [Intern] did a great job dealing with all the challenges she faced and
when she had trouble, she communicated with me and we worked through it.
[Intern] works hard and is really committed to learning. She still has some difficulty
focusing and not talking so much so others can work more easily. But overall she has
learned a lot an improved in her aquatic ecology skill to a great degree
The intern faced challenges that ranged from working in extreme weather conditions
(e.g., rainstorms, 90-degree-plus heat) in an insect-infested area to balancing the daily
challenges of working with varying personality types among our crew. [Intern] rose to
the occasion and shone on every level and did a fantastic job.
Good technical and mathematical skills, but needs to work on following through with
what he says he will/wants to do.
The student intern was among the most self-directed and competent summer
researcher I have hosted in my labs. He independently pursued questions, and actively
sought guidance when needed (but only when several options had been tried
independently). Things did not work out as expected....nearly all the measurements
were harder or more ambiguous than initially hoped. However, he persevered and I
believe will have done important foundational work that will be used in a PhD student’s
thesis.
[Intern]'s strengths include initiative, organization, and a positive attitude. She was
challenged in the early part of the season when our crew lost a crew member to a knee
injury. We were short-handed, and [Intern] worked extra hours by herself to keep
things moving forward. It would not have been a successful season without her.
[Intern] is a very conscientious and giving person. He is especially dependable. The best
intern yet! He lacked in communication, being a quiet person, but the Saturday market
experience seemed to really help him and he was a great help.
[Intern] is a self-starter taking the initiative to complete tasks in a timely and
dependable manner. Using Past Perfect, the database program for archivists, she
researched and created an organized electronic database of all the Libby Dam historic
construction photos. This summer, [Intern] finished archiving the nearly 8,000 historic
construction photos at Libby Dam. [Intern] uses sound judgment and level
headedness in all her tasks. She always asks enough questions to get the job
accomplished correctly the first time. She adapts to changes in work load and
assignments too. She does this willingly and never voices a complaint. [Intern] is very
conscientious, has a positive attitude, a great work ethic and has been a pleasure to
have on staff this summer. [Intern] was tasks with finalizing delivery of gravel to a
quarry near Eureka, MT. When tickets did not make sense, she took the initiative to
question the validity of the tickets confirming that the government was receiving the
product they specified in the contract.
[Intern] demonstrated an ability to work independently and adapt to our changing
workplace demands. He asked questions needed to accomplish tasks and kept his
supervisor apprised of his activities and results.
[Intern] was very capable learning and using the modern technology Juno devices for
field data collection. She was very capable working independently with limited
supervision and was able to collect good information that will be used in forest
management decisions. They worked in a very remote location which made for
challenging communications at times but they did fairly well over coming those
difficulties.
[Intern] exhibits excellent initiative and teamwork skills. He vastly improved his ability
to incorporate feedback and build consensus. He has excellent technical skills and
learned to plan his time to accomplish fast moving goals. He has extraordinary people
skills that will take him far. He accomplished so much and our team is so grateful for
his contributions.
[Intern] did an excellent job for us this summer. Our position is quite challenging as
interns are required to learn quickly, interface with large groups, speak to large groups

of public, and work very independently on a daily basis. [Intern]r did an excellent job on
all fronts, and I think our position did a lot to increase her confidence in herself and her
ability to lead others. Well done, [Intern] and thanks for all your help this summer...
[Intern] was able to work alone most of the time, with weekly check ins at my office.
She was able to independently research the topic and move forward with the
information. She also is not afraid to ask questions if she is unsure.
[Intern]'s exceptional work ethic, enthusiasm, and creativity greatly exceeded my
expectations. Over the course of the summer, he rapidly gained technical proficiency
with a variety of new scientific methods and even suggested a number of helpful ways
of improving existing methodologies. His already excellent interpersonal skills allowed
him to easily fit in with our research group, and we have already begun discussions
regarding future collaborations. In short, our internship experience with [Intern] was
excellent and we will highly recommend him for future employment opportunities.
[Intern] is his own worst critic. He strives for perfection as his high mark and
sometimes needs encouragement that his best effort is enough. [Intern] has excellent
communication skills and makes both staff and the population he is working with feel
they are important with his genuine caring. He exhibited high ethical and moral
diligence, focused and justice and promoting client self worth and dignity. He practices
client centered, evidenced based best practices. [Intern] struggles with self confidence
at times due to his desire to meet individuals 'needs to improve their quality of life and
offer guidance to overcome obstacles. [Intern] is a pleasure to work with and takes
constructive criticism well. He applies what he learns and will be an outstanding social
worker as I have seen him at work. He refers to the NASW code of ethics and he asks
questions when he is unsure. [Intern] has made professional growth and personal
growth this semester going above and beyond in this internship. He improved in his
research abilities and increased an understanding of both qualitative and quantitative
abilities/ He has great critical thinking and keeps a level head during crisis. [Intern] will
be an asset wherever he works.
[Intern] worked very hard, but still has much to learn regarding deadlines and
newspaper writing. Several times she was late to the office and late with stories, but
she did text to give a reason. I tried to get her writing to not be advertorial, but she
often reverted back to promoting people and businesses within her stories. We did
work on this and she improved a bit throughout the course of the summer. She needs
to work on organization of ideas within her story. Her grammar and spelling are great,
she keeps a very professional attitude while working and is pleasant.
[Intern] was very proficient in using Excel and did a great job learning our company's
accounting software in a short period of time. He had a strong accounting knowledge of
the effects of debits and credits and the internship allowed for him to apply his
textbook knowledge in a real world application which I believe improved his
understanding all around. He was also able to work with a number of people in
different positions and help support and learn from others in various ways. I believe this
gave him a good opportunity to feel more comfortable asking questions when he
needed clarification and feeling more comfortable working with new people.
[Intern] did a great job helping out in various areas within the accounting and tax
department. She has a great positive attitude and didn't require a lot of supervision.
She was able to complete projects very quickly and with accuracy.
Very intelligent, works efficiently and well with others. Only improvement would be to
learn more about museum practices, but that comes with time and education.
Good listener.
[Intern] is a very intelligent and organized student. She became an integral part of the
Climate Change intern team. She took on research and instructional tasks with
enthusiasm and professionalism. The team presented to Hellgate High School for Earth
Week to a huge group with a very positive response.
[Intern] tackled our website with a whole new redesign. We were impressed with her
work ethic, her research ability and tenacity with the project. She was very professional
at asking for and receiving feedback and incorporated the newest information into our
website. [Intern] was a fabulous team player, seeking the most updated material to add
to the website each week.
[Intern] has been a strong worker for the WEN team, always ready and willing to take
on tasks and complete them in an efficient manner. [Intern] has really grown in his
interpersonal skills and office setting skills. We have appreciated the flexibility and the
strong work ethic that [Intern] brings to the job.

[Intern] has a great attitude and willingness to tackle any project. Her initiative was
excellent, she really dug in with anything she was handed, needed minimal direction
and the results were professional and timely. She'll be an asset to any future employer.
[Intern]'s strength would be her communication skills.
[Intern]'s real strength is critical thinking. He developed over the course in his ability to
convey difficult philosophical concepts to the students and engaging them in discussion
of the ethical issues related to climate change. [Intern] was challenged by the physical
aspects of backpacking in difficult terrain but did a great job and is now capable of
leading field courses. I would recommend him as a co-instructor for future WRFI course
once he completes his master's degree
[Intern] demonstrated initiative, preparedness, and responsiveness as he managed
display reservations during 2014 and organized the National Wilderness Conference
silent auction, which raised over $12,000. Ian did struggle initially at times to manage
multiple concurrent tasks, though he adapted amazingly well.
[Intern] was dependable, creative, and had an exceptionally positive attitude. She
contributed to our organizations spring goals immensely. I would have liked to have
known more specifics about her goals and needs at the beginning of the internship, but
she seemed satisfied with the work that was driven by the organizations needs vs. her
own specific goals.
[Intern] is responsible, bright, completed every assignment, was willing to take on every
assignment, and learned about many aspects of working in a non-profit conservation
organization. [Intern] is pleasant to work with and will be a benefit to any team he is
part of.
The intern was adept at following directions and asking questions when necessary. He
also displayed high attention to detail and an overall good attitude among other
interns.
Strengths: Desire to achieve his career choice, strong focus, knowledge of his career
field, ability to work with others/teamwork, strong drive and determination, willingness
to volunteer for various chores “ to add to his skill set Challenges: His career choice is
very competitive, his career choice is dependent on government agency funding which
can be difficult due to agency budget shortfalls Ways to improve skills: Maintain focus,
accept various seasonal or volunteer positions with his agency choice to add to his skill
set and knowledge of the various functions of the government agency, time will
improve skills, he will be working at related seasonal positions with his agency of choice
[Intern] worked hard and listened. Asked good questions.
[Intern] did most of her work for our Havre office, so did not have the ability for face to
face discussions with the people she was directly working with, but was able to have
Missoula people help her, which is not easy. Havre was absolutely pleased with her
performance.

[Intern] showed to work every day, worked efficiently and did a great job.

Working and attending classes is a strain. [Intern] did well.
[Intern] was great as an intern for the Futures program and for WORD Inc as a whole.
He proved to be very hard working, flexible, mature and adaptable. We were already
working with another practicum student who really struggled here but [Intern] did an
amazing job picking up the slack and moving things forward. I would give [Intern] a
glowing recommendation if he were to use me as such.
[Intern] worked hard and listened to concerns well. She added a great energy to the
organization!
[Intern] is an incredibly hard worker and she is so passionate and genuine about the
work she does. She might want to work on being more assertive with others and
confident in expressing her ideas.
[Intern] has a positive attitude and is a joy to work with. She takes feedback well and
works well with a team.
She showed strong organization and task managing skills. Some of the challenges that
the intern faced were handling multiple tasks and specific target marketing. Time
management is solid but could use a little improvement.
Strengths: [Intern] is highly motivated and has a get it done attitude. He meshed well
with the rest of the team and eagerly accepted all assignments given to him.
Weaknesses: Did not observe any weaknesses.

One challenge that [Intern] overcame was pitching a proposed benefit nights to
potential local business donors. Now he has the confidence to go out and solicit support
for the organization.
[Intern] has great interpersonal communication skills, which is a must in our operations.
He was very receptive to learning and became a trusted, productive member of our
team.
[Intern] has greatly improved on her professionalism, interpersonal skills, dependability,
and time management skills.
[Intern] is naturally quiet so we needed to encourage having more of a voice. Her
strengths are her knowledge and passion for the subjects she presented to the Girls.
[Intern] had a great internship this fall. She worked really hard, learned so much, and is
now going to be employed by the YWCA in one of our staff back up positions. We really
appreciate everything that [Intern] does for us and consider her a valued team
member.
[Intern] is professional, intelligent and eager to learn and to assist with/ complete tasks.
[Intern] went above and beyond what was asked of her: adapting her schedule, helping
out with any and every task--and keeping a positive attitude all the while!
[Intern] has been a pleasure to work with. She is very enthusiastic and dedicated to
using what she learns to make improvements and add value to our company. We are in
a start-up and high growth phase, and she showed flexibility with the challenges
associated with that. She is very supportive of everyone and a great team player, one
thing [Intern] could work on is being more assertive and proactive with conflict. She
shows pro activity with ambiguous assignments, but generally will improve in all facets
of marketing skills with more exposure and experience in the field.
When [Intern] started she was a little quiet, by the end of the internship she was
engaging/vocal at our keeper meetings. [Intern] was able to observe our collection and
identify potential issues that were going on. She was punctual, ready to lend a hand to
other keeping staff, and an excellent member of team this summer. We really miss
having [Intern] around!
264 supervisors responded to the open-ended question, “Is there anything else you would like to share
about the internship?” Of those supervisors, 224 offered their comments for public distribution and 40
others responded but declined to have their comments published. Those 40 responses have been
withheld from this report. Identifying information pertaining to campus units was changed to

[Intern] did a great job! She has a great amount of potential, how she channels her
strengths will dictate her path for the future. From the Adams Center perspective, we
would be very interested in growing our intern program and providing more
opportunities to our UM students.
Always a pleasure! We have had great candidates and continue to learn from each and
every student. I look forward to more internships.
AWESOME experience!
[Intern] was never viewed as an intern but rather a young consultant. It has been great
to have him in our office!
We are looking forward to her coming back next semester!
No...It was a great experience for AERO!
Looking forward to enlarging our program next year
Thank you for allowing our farm to participate in your program. We will be happy to
invite future interns.
The only reason [Intern] was not offered employment at the end of her internship is
because she has expressed she does not want to live in Florida. If she ever changes her
mind we would hire her immediately. She was extremely hard working, professional

and a joy to be around. This was our first time of doing a summer internship program.
No other intern will ever live up to the high standard that [Intern] has set for being a
“great intern.” :)
Always grateful for the opportunity to mentor and guide young students. Not always as
grateful to have to re-parent them when they lack basic social skills and the ability to
perform well with a team. [Intern] was certainly mature and ready to jump in to any
and all projects.
I believe [Intern] will do an outstanding job in whichever aspect of health care she
decides to pursue.
I appreciated the feedback and constructive criticism I received about aspects of our
program and will use the information to initiate some changes to improve the program
and experience for future interns and student employees.
I think this is a great program and so happy that our undergraduates have such support
and opportunities. Thank you!
[Intern] will be an asset to whatever company she chooses to work with.
[Intern]'s group was deemed so valuable to its participants that we have extended it
through the summer
Although we don't have the funds to hire [Intern], I expressed that I'd like to!
He did an excellent job
It was a more difficult internship then most we have but [Intern] was able to step up to
the plate and help out when needed.
It felt like a very valuable internship. [Intern] did work we could not otherwise afford,
and the opportunity offered [Intern] a platform to hone her skills. I think it was a great
fit, and I will miss her.
In relation to question 14 -- we had an opening for a full time reporter while [Intern]
was interning for us, and I would have certainly hired him full time at the end of his
internship, had he not had another year of school left to complete!
The intern has an excellent attitude and is highly collaborative with others. He is a
pleasure to work with and shows great promise for a career in research in materials
science.
Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback and for following up consistently
throughout the summer.
[Intern] has been great to work with, we wish him the best of luck and hope to see him
here at Bottomline in the future.
This was the first internship from Missoula, was glad to be able to work the internship
in over the summer.
Overall [Intern] was a great asset to our business. His involvement provided a new look
on our current customer base and provided us with a fresh set of eyes on our current
services we provide our customers. I enjoyed the open dialogue and interactions with
[Intern].
This was an unpaid internship and thus we did not offer her a position, because we did
not have one to offer.
The hours were somewhat limited for [Intern] at the beginning of the summer due to
lower camp enrollment. If he is required to have more hours to complete his internship
I can talk to him about possibly volunteering to finish up with the end of the year camp
wrap up.
It was a pleasure having [Intern] on the team. We'll miss her and hope she comes back
one day!
He has become an (almost) “right-hand” man. His writing skills have improved. His
technical skills are of a professional quality.
The intern program was an excellent opportunity to work off campus in a variety of
different environments.
Our Adventure Camp series is very hands-on, focused on safety and demands a lot from
our staff. [Intern] was not fazed by any of the daily challenges or uniqueness of our
camps. And also assisted in making sure safety was a priority.
The only reason we didn't offer employment at this time is we don't have an opening
for an entry level position. We have asked that if [Intern] wish to return as an unpaid
volunteer, she could return in the same position and continue to grow and gain
experience.
We were not sure our company fit the ideal profile for an internship; we felt that in
order for the intern to “understand” the management challenges a multi-unit “fast

food” operation has. That he would need to spend at least a week understanding the
operations. [Intern] accepted that challenge head on; we combined that phase of the
internship with direct supervision from our Director of Operations as well as Area
Coaches. This allowed [Intern] to get hands on operation experience as well as the
“why” from our management team. As the CEO I was very pleased with the positive
feedback I received from my field operation team about [Intern] and the internship
process. It made our Company focus on providing a good experience for the intern and
formalize some of our operation management procedures.
[Intern] is hands-down one of the best interns we've had. She capitalized on every
opportunity that our company provided (including a part time marketing position, an
ambassadorship for SKI magazine, and a mini photo internship with the OR Daily,
among others), and showed a clear and strong interest for this industry.
I did not have any interactions with the school, only [Intern], who was exceptional. She
in incredibly delightful, intelligent and self-starter. She will do well in her profession.
I am not sure where the ball was dropped but there was a significant misunderstanding
at the beginning of this internship so I did not feel well prepared. I think in the future, if
CMC were to agree to take another intern, contact with our student coordinators in the
various professions would be helpful. I feel like [Intern] could have had a more directed
plan and specific goals could have been outlined had I been more prepared on what my
role would be.
We all feel that she will be a wonderful addition to the medical community.
This is a great program for students
I had a wonderful experience working with [Intern] as an intern. I especially
appreciated the mid term and final check ins from the internship office staff.
This was a very good experience for me and DCM Limited. I hope [Intern] enjoyed this
experience as well.
I love working with and having student interns. They get as much out of the
opportunity as they put into it.
[Intern] is a strong student who has gone out out of her way to get as much experience
as she can.
Good experience for me and I think [Intern]. She continues to volunteer in my lab and
is developing a poster for a coming professional meeting based on her research.
The web site is not yet complete, however [Intern] did a lot of research about the
American Legion and incorporated her results into a web page that reflects the Legion
and its programs.
[Intern] was very eager to work and learn in this position.
[Intern] is a good learner and should succeed in any goal he sets for himself.
This internship was a very positive and meaningful experience for our organization, and
allowed us to meet and exceed our goals.

Great job

Great job, can’t wait to see what’s in store for [Intern]. She's going to do great things.
Edge of the World
THANK YOU, thank YOU!
[Intern] has been an exemplary worker, and I hope to continue building my team with
more like him.
[Intern] did come and fill in for our office manager one afternoon and did a fantastic job
problem solving those tasks. She was always very pleasant to work with and willing to
do any task that was asked of her. She would be an asset to any workplace.
It would have been helpful to have a list of goals or objectives for the internship, so that
I was more prepared to teach her.
[Intern] was able to do some additional volunteer work with me in marine research,
summer camp facilitating, and museum (natural history) consulting. I comfortably
submit that he has exhibited qualities of great company during this project, and I will be
interested keeping in touch with him for future opportunities.
She essentially just began this apprenticeship, so we have a full, long, big season ahead
of us to do a better evaluation. But based on working with Jess so far, I have no doubt
she will add a lot to our team, as well as add a lot to her personal toolbox of skills and
experiences.

[Intern] is very personable and can easily establish rapport with others.
The need to have a support group for female international students is great. We
appreciate [Intern]'s efforts in trying to establish such a group but it takes time and
long-term commitment for such a program to materialize.
He was not offered employment because he was heading back to school. [Intern] did
an outstanding job with us this summer. I have no doubt [Intern] will succeed in
whatever field he chooses. He has the right temperament, attitude and his philosophy
will be a great addition to any city/recreation field he is going into.
[Intern] has been great to work with!
Good luck [Intern], and thanks for all your help!
[Intern] has become a great asset to our organization, inspiring the volunteer force that
makes the Freedom Gardens run, as well as learning the intricacies of the non-profit
world. She has learned a lot from working with the Freedom Gardens, but we have
received more in return from [Intern] as she continues to give of her time and lead the
team by example.
[Intern] gained valuable experience as an elected official of the Frenchtown School
District. A school district is the smallest form of government with enormous impact on
the entire population. [Intern] took his responsibility seriously. The District benefited
by engaging a relatively younger individual, interested in the success of the school
district with the ability to articulate a different perspective. [Intern] is a very vital
member of the school board.
I would like to know who to speak with about an internship program that I am
developing. I am also working with MSU but would like to include UM as well.
It was great to have [Intern] as an intern. She added a lot of great characteristics and
strengths to our program.

Sometimes it'd be nice to get an idea of what a university considers a “good internship”
The only reason [Intern] was not offered employment was due to funding. We would
love to have [Intern] stay on with us.
The UM internship program has once again provided a talented and eager individual to
work with us over the summer. I am very pleased to have had the chance to do this
again.
This was our first intern. At first, we were nervous about whether he would help of
detract from our culture here. [Intern] exceeded our expectations. We will be willing to
entertain future applicants.
My experience with interns has been a mixed bag--all have had good attitudes, but it's
been rare to find a self-motivated intern who can work independently, and some
internships wind up creating more workload for supervisors than helping. [Intern]
excels in terms of self-motivation and the ability to take on complex projects
independently. He has been a great asset to our organization and has exceeded
expectations.
I guess I did not realize that this was supposed to be like a job, I had her come in so she
could observe and I could help mentor her in the field of O.T. I do not have a position of
employment per se and would not want it to be listed as such.
We rely heavily on volunteers at the museum and having skilled interns like [Intern]
allows me to move forward with projects I otherwise would have to put on the back
burner for yet another season.
We are grateful to [Intern] her for phenomenal work and to Nicky for placing such a
capable candidate with our organization. More folks like [Intern], please!
The experience of having an intern like [Intern] breathed new life into my position as
Humanities Advisor. This facet allowed me the experience of passing along advising
information and knowledge. I feel it was enriching for both of us.
I like the way UofM has structured their program!
Thank you for this great opportunity.
I would love to help promote internships for Jim Palmer Trucking, and just the value of
doing an internship before graduation in general any way that I can.

We've had great success two years in a row with interns from Montana State University
and would welcome another.
Think I covered everything in the above text field.
Since [Intern] worked with [Intern 2], please see my comments in this section on [Intern
2]'s evaluation. I will add here that these two students worked very well together and it
was obvious they spent many hours outside my supervision working on this project.
They both dug deep into the information that I provided. They also took the initiative
to follow other leads and offered additional insight as a result.
While the intern worked mostly independently, I think he gained some real world
knowledge about the decision making process for an expanding small business. I think
it's important to introduce students to the obstacles we face when trying to incorporate
sustainable or “green” building and business practices into our mission. For our project,
[Intern] helped us with calculating the carbon loading that two competing boilers would
add to our footprint. This exercise can be quite complicated when making a calculation
to determine which technology not only emits less carbon, but has a usable life cycle
that doesn't negate those carbon savings. Hopefully these interns learned that making
these seemingly straightforward decisions requires a critical analysis of what data
vendors provide to their customers.
She was great--willing to learn and was able to participate in a variety of stories --from
hard news to feature. I also had her transcribe a very long interview for me and it was
spot on accurate and made editing a long story a piece of cake.
Our company reinstated a paid internship program with UM students for the 1st time in
30 years. Based on [Intern]'s abilities, this is something I will recommend that we
continue as long as there are students to choose from.
It was good to have [Intern] over winter session as I didn't have my usual high numbers
of CEO field experience students. Lorraine fit right in. Her primary task was to work on
our observational assessment tool to catch up two new children in terms of
developmental skill documentation.
Thank you!!

[Intern] was an excellent intern candidate, eager to learn and grow.
Since [Intern] is already employed with us, I wasn't sure how to answer #14 and 15, but
I feel yes is the more appropriate answer.
[Intern] was a joy to have at the MAM, I hope she continues to visit us and see the

education she will see this experience as part of overall experience for practical
employment.
The above ratings (question 8 and 9) really aren't applicable to this experience. I do
believe the internship improved the intern's employability because she told me that
this experience helped her secure her summer job.
There are no current positions open, but [Intern] would be a serious contender for
Community Health Specialist. The only area she lacks at this time is years of experience
in the field.
This is a required 300 hour internship and there remains approximately 200 more hours
to be accumulated. I look forward to continued associations with [Intern]. - chef

This internship has been a totally positive experience for Missoula Conservation District.

[Intern] is a valuable full-time employee on our staff, but this internship gave him the
opportunity to contribute in ways above and beyond the roles and responsibilities of his
position as Operations Coordinator. This project improved his project management
skills from start to finish, which will contribute positively to his overall academic pursuit
of an MPA degree.
We have on-going internship needs, including a need for me to have a summer intern
and wanting to know we are plugged in to Internship Services on an on-going basis. Is
there a way we can get put on your radar for on-going communication with you so that
you know our needs and just for your office to check in on our needs? One issue here is
turnover and when that happens I think our reaching out and communication with your
office lapses. Let me know how we can systematize this in any way possible. Thank
you!

FINISH THE HOURS.

Thanks to [Intern] for all her help! She was an asset to our program, and I hope she
continues to be involved with Special Olympics.
A little better structure about what his goals of the internship where and documented
requirements. A greater reflection component for Shawn coming from the University.
Would love to continue to accept a wilderness in civilization intern again
We thoroughly enjoyed having interns. They bring a fresh and youthful perspective
which is very much needed in public transit.
We thoroughly enjoyed having interns. They bring a fresh and youthful perspective
which is very much needed in public transit.
I am hoping [Intern] got some additional skills from this internship, I was a little worried
it may be below her skill set as I had her do a lot of social media work. I think in the end
though she learned some social media skills and picked up some items for the resume.
Again, my appeal is more to the [Department] overall. The attention needs to return to
preparing students who are solid reporters and writers. They need to know how to ask
good questions, how to take notes, how to construct basic news stories that have
proper grammar, punctuation, AP style, etc. More and more, we see those skills missing
in our interns.
[Intern] is bright, articulate, a contributor in our staff meetings, eager to learn, curious
about her surroundings, a solid young journalist who has much left to learn but shows
promise. I'm pleased with how her work improved during her internship, and how she
took our editors' feedback to heart.
Loved having [Intern] and would take an intern with his skills any day.
[Intern] did excellent work for the Missoulian this summer. He is a very good reporter,
writer and photographer. His skills will get him a job in the future, and will be sought
out by media outlets. I was impressed with his willingness to tackle anything sent his
way -- from travel pieces to hard news to full-length Sunday feature stories. He's a quick
learner and a hard worker, able to meet deadlines calmly and proficiently.
Win, win for both the Missoulian and [Intern].
This has been a very positive experience and I look forward to hiring interns in the
future.
It was a great experience for us and we hope that [Intern] will want to return next year.
[Intern] did an excellent job. she exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend
[Intern] for a position in biological sciences and resource management.
Relating to “Question #14”, offering an intern employment following completion of this
seasonal work is not the norm, therefore, he was not offered employment not due to
any negative performance or abilities.
Overall I think it the internship benefited [Intern] and Montana FWP. [Intern] gained
experience and understanding of real world wildlife management, and contributed to
Montana FWP by providing technical assistance.
If every student intern were as high a quality employee as [Intern], I would recommend
this program to anyone.
[Intern]'s internship covered many areas. It gave a well rounded look into our Agency
and our Mission and objectives. We hope that [Intern] will look at our Agency upon

We cannot offer employment on behalf of the campaign or party until the election is
over, but I know my team as well as teams around the state would hire him again if we

We are happy to host more students - especially if they are like [Intern]!
We really enjoyed having [Intern] intern with us. We aren't in a position to offer him
permanent employment, unfortunately, but he was able to do a lot in the year he spent
at MNHC, and we may contract him in the future to work on other exhibit projects!
If I had a position opening, [Intern] would absolutely be a candidate.
She was delightful! I hope to find a job here for her soon!
Thanks for facilitating what has been an excellent internship.
A MontPIRG internship is great for anyone looking to get involved in activism or politics.
Our work with the environment, voting rights, consumer protection and campaign
finance reform. We focus on building skills necessary to be an effective leader and
organizer in any community! Our interns keep our organization running and are given a
lot of independence and are expected to take initiative in running campaigns.
MontPIRG is a great opportunity for anyone looking for firsthand experience in activism
and grassroots organizing!
We would love to have [Intern] back in any capacity possible.
This is a good program for the university to provide.
Joann and Emily are always great to work with. For this internship we went with
express services because the contract between DNRC/UM wasn’t going to get signed off
in time.
[Intern] is an exceptional student and a hard worker and will be an asset to any
organization that hires her. I wish we could keep her in Montana, but understand her
wish to spread her wings and explore opportunities out of state. Working with [Intern]
was a wonderful experience.
Great fit and we definitely benefited having her work here this summer.
Mature beyond his years and a proven leader and I'm looking forward to seeing just
how bright young [Intern]'s future is!
She did an excellent job in navigating a totally new platform for this field.
Please note my comments above
Thanks for the opportunity! This was NCBI's first intern from the UM Communications
Program. [Intern] has been a huge asset to our Development & Communications
activities.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to participate in the UM internship program. Our
UM internships have enriched the culture of NCBI and provided countless opportunities
to grow and thrive in our beloved community. Thank you.
The internship at Nepali Times is designed to acquaint students with all facets of news
production.

[Intern] has been one of my top interns.
[Intern] very much enjoyed that fact that he was given the freedom to be creative in
developing new study abroad marketing strategies.

[Intern] was an amazing intern and he will hopefully be able to intern for our office for
one credit in the fall 2014.
We very much enjoyed having [Intern] as an intern.
[Intern] was fantastic. She developed so much during her internship. Her public
speaking skills were already great but she even got better. She worked with her fellow
intern [Intern] on an informational video about UM study abroad programs with a voice
recording, and [Intern]'s voice is on it!

[Intern] had a lot of initiative in completing he tasks.
[Intern] felt that this was a very useful internship for her future major in International
Communications in Business setting.
There didn't seem to be any accountable on the other end.
good internship experience for both of us
Great experience all the way around!
Great experience!
Working with [Intern] has been a great experience, for my team and I think that [Intern]
would echo these comments from her view. We've asked [Intern] to work on some
tasks that normally we would not have an intern doing, such as being highly involved in
our social media content and posts, and authoring press releases. [Intern]'s work on
these areas is a testament to our confidence in her work product. We think that she
benefited from these assignments as well.
[Intern] is a great asset and a phenomenal ambassador wherever he goes. He has great
soft skills and can easily relate to people. His interpersonal skills are something I wish
more of my staff had and he demonstrates those intangible skill sets that are so hard to
teach. Keep up the great work!
[Intern] was wonderful to work with!
[Intern] contributed greatly to Planet Drum's Dry Tropical Forest Revegetation Project in
the field and also in the urban setting. Apart from the field work in which she was
heavily involved. She decided to take on a personal project that evaluated the
condition and needs of the Ecological Taxis (pedicabs) in Bahia de Caraquez. She
organized multiple meetings with Ecuadorian eco-taxi drivers and conducted numerous
interviews. She then analyzed their situation and prepared a presentation for the
Mayor and city officials, which was very professional and well received. Her work will
have a lasting impact on the Project and the city of Bahia. For an intern to achieve this
level of success during their stay is a major accomplishment. I commend [Intern] for her
participation in the field work and her personal project and I wish her the best in her
future endeavors. For question 14, [Intern] was not offered employment with Planet
Drum only due to a lack of funding, not because of her abilities.
[Intern] is an amazing young woman. She is thoughtful and thorough. She works
efficiently and cheerfully. Each week, [Intern] made a sample featuring our local farm
produce. The success of these samples makes me want to add a value added
component to our farm and have [Intern] be a part of it.
Thanks for the structure you provide.
It has been a great experience for all parties; I look forward to continuing this
relationship.
I found [Intern] to be diligent and conscientious in all of his work, eager to learn and do
a good job. He was a huge asset for Runner's World this summer and a pleasure to work
with.
We would like to continue to have interns
Thanks for cultivating such great talent in the beautiful city of Missoula!
I think there should be more effort to collect opportunities for students to intern on
campus and then make a match for what is being offered with what the student
wants/can provide. I was just lucky that [Intern] was interested in our work and
decided to ask to intern with us in the research lab. Questions about personal growth
can be quite challenging. [Intern] already had some strong skills prior to starting with
us and she didn't have a lot of room to grow in all areas.
Great benefit for both intern and student!
Worked well
Although the Montana crime lab doesn't typically bring on interns due to limited time,
[Intern] was a great fit and her presence did not interfere with any lab operations.
[Intern] was a work study in our laboratory for many months. As a result of her
exemplary work, we agreed to offer internship. The laboratory does this on a case-bycase basis.
[Intern] has done well. I do feel that our agency does not have the physical space to
make this a true experience. It has been strongly suggested that an intern in our office
have his or her own office space to allow for the full experience including effective time

Having interns is a great learning experience for me too! I appreciate the opportunity to
work and learn how to manage different personalities. I hope that we are able to
provide a flexible work environment where interns can find out what they enjoy doing
and learn more about real workplaces and expectation.
We are very glad [Intern] sought us out for a summer internship. It has been very
helpful having her here and I think she learned about the day to day operations of a
large cultural facility. I think it will help her once she graduates and enters the job
market. If she qualified for a position here - I'm sure we'd consider her based on this
experience.
I attended UM and love the progression of the Internship Services program. It
continues to be more accessible and, I think, effective. Nice work, thanks!
Another fantastic University of Montana student intern! We've been so pleased with all
of our interns and love working with Internship Services! It'd be great if there were
ways to work most closely with the individual departments too so that they knew what
internships we offered.
A great experience, I would love to work with [Intern] again in the future.
I would encourage students to keep an eye on our internship opportunity section of our
website, as it lists current internship openings.
http://www.marinemammalcenter.org/Get-Involved/volunteer/internshipopportunities/
I did not receive the internship beginning email until last week. [Intern] had asked
several times if I had heard anything. [Intern] did everything on a timely, but Internship
Services (or the University department) did not do their part until the last minute.
We hope to hire her in some fashion at some point very soon. My favorite intern so far.
Overall, [Intern] proved to be a model intern. I hope we can continue offering
internships to UM students, especially if the process works as well as it has this
summer.
[Intern] ended up with her dream job working for the Belagio.
Future Herbarium internship contact will be Shannon Kimball, the new permanent
curator.
The interns we use are both critical to covering our sports and given a lot of freedom
and flexibility to get the job done. [Intern] did a nice job of working within that
framework.
This is a difficult project and the intern did a wonderful job. They gained valuable
experience. The individual got along extremely well with everyone on the crew, her
supervisor, and other staff at the refuge. As I said before [Intern] was an essential part
to the success of this project.
Without my intern and volunteer, this field project would not have been as successful
or accomplished nearly as much. I am very grateful to [Intern] for her time and efforts.
Together we completed a field survey of 420 bridges and culverts in western Montana;
we found heavy evidence of bat activity, and several large bat roosts which were
unknown to area biologists previously. [Intern]'s cheerful attitude, punctuality and work
ethic helped make it happen!
The University provides a good program to allow students to further their knowledge in
the working world. I would definitely entertain the idea of another intern in the future.
[Intern] was an exceptional intern, always accepting of constructive criticism, timely
with her assigned tasks, and very willing to provide us a service as we provided her
educational opportunities.
The timing to the semesters makes the internship process feel artificial. Especially with
[Intern]. We got started a little later in the semester than I would have preferred, but
she did a great job of jumping right in.
Just a big thank you to the Exercise Science and HHP faculty and staff on campus. We
absolutely love having your students as interns, staff, volunteers and grad students!
They are well prepared, knowledgeable, and dedicated to our clients, patients, and
their own learning experiences.
It would be good to have greater internship students throughout the semester in all our
programming. We know it is difficult for students to find effective internships and we
are open to working with your valuable program in the future. Perhaps we could plan to
meet more regularly throughout the regular session to help cultivate this working
relationship.

[Intern] is very dedicated to international education and interacted very well with
international students.
Having local students do internships in the summer is not a good situation. They have
too many distractions and they had to give nothing up for the opportunity. In our
profession most coaches will move away and do an unpaid internship just to get their
foot in the door. It takes a certain level of commitment to make this your career.
Kelsey doesn't have that commitment and she knows that now.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with UM students looking for internship
experiences. I am always impressed with how well the students are prepared and how
professional they are in their interactions.
This intern dropped this internship mid-way through the semester.
This was a great internship! [Intern] is great to work with and we both learned a lot
through this internship.
Due to the unique nature of this program, I am grateful for opportunities like this for
students - it adds value to all we are involved in. It allows students to pay closer
attention to sharing their experience with fellow classmates and their instructors.
She did a great job!
I already filled out this online form and thought it was submitted several weeks ago, but
it seems to have gotten lost (or I did not properly submit), so I had to do the evaluation
twice.
[Intern] will go far in life! She was one of my best field technicians ever.
I'd like to have 5 more [Intern] s!
This was a really positive experience. We couldn't have had a better intern than
[Intern]. She is AMAZING!!! I also have photos and will do a write up for Emily
Pritchard when I get a chance later this week.
We loved having [Intern] as an intern this semester. His contributions to our
productivity was immeasurable, from covering complex hearings in Congress, to
developing a brochure highlighting USAID development programs, providing support for
outreach meetings and events, to drafting reports and doing research. We were lucky
to have him! Thanks University of Montana!
I would love to use your internship program again in the future. [Intern] approached me
to line up the interview, but I would love to discuss hiring other interns through your
program next summer. Please contact me if you have an interest
This internship offers a variety of situations for an intern to learn from. There is lots of
intervention with underserved populations and a cultural diversity. It provides an
opportunity to advocate for justice and make differences in the community. It also
allows for flexibility and creative ideas to be applied in direct service. As an intern,
there are many challenging and ethical decisions to be made and much of it is
therapeutic counseling. It helps an intern to choose areas of social work they find most
appealing and capable of working with many populations.
The answers to the questions above are not always black and white, yes or no. [Intern]
is not ready to meet the demands of a newspaper quite yet, but I think she will as she
gains experience.
[Intern] is a very smart individual and we all enjoyed working with [Intern] and would
look to work with him again someday in the future.
We have enjoyed having [Intern] work with us this spring and will continue to have her
work here during the summer of 2015 as well.
[Intern] did a great job and we can't wait to have her back over Christmas break. She
exhibited the rare dependability and commitment that is crucially needed in volunteers
today. If she stays the course, she will go a long way in the fields of history and
anthropology.
We simply could not do our extensive water education work without the UM Interns!
Reaching high school audiences has always be a goal at WEN and the UM interns made
this stretch possible for us. [Intern] provided strong contribution to the Willard High
School Climate Change curriculum.
WEN is a nonprofit that has a strong workplace culture of teamwork. Sean has grown
immensely in the work that brings us community and learned a lot about office
protocols. We gained a tremendous worker while [Intern] gained skills on computer,
working as a team and water science curriculum.

WEN relies on the talent and energy of interns like [Intern] who answer our call to bring

Excellent experience having [Intern] as an intern
Although this internship was a one-time experience, I'm very proud that [Intern] was a
part of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. His internship was longer and more
strenuous than others and his responsibilities reflected those I would bestow on an
employee, not simply an intern. He performed exceptionally and I hope that the
contacts he made through his work with me will help him in his future work in
recreation and tourism.
Yes but I don't have time since I was notified time is running out
[Intern] came in with strong skills and knowledge of the type of work we do. My only
regret is that I was not able to be more mindful and proactive with giving him a wider
range of experiences and would have utilized his skills more.
great guy, great attitude
We hope [Intern] will continue to volunteer his time and skills with our organization.
[Intern] was already employed with us so that affected answers above. And we accept
many types of interns, so whether we accept or not was not BASED on this recent
experience.
We love having interns go through our advocate training and gain the skills to be
amazing advocates while also having the opportunity to earn valuable credits at school!
I wish we could hire her!!
It was a new experience for us, and [Intern]'s experience was probably as valuable in
being part of a start-up process and learning entrepreneurial marketing as much as
technical marketing skills, but I also strongly believe her exposure to the process, job
shadowing and associated networking was as beneficial as anything she may have
otherwise had an opportunity to be a part of. We would like to offer her a position with
us, but can only offer part-time employment.
[Intern] was a fantastic intern for us this year. She was ready to step in a fill a part time
position for us when it expectantly became available. I was able to rely on [Intern] like
a regular employee!
