Please explain/justify the new proposal or change. The BFA core is being lowered by three credits, while the credit earned in four of our acting skills classes (THTR 210/211/315/216) is increasing by one credit each, leading to a total of 72 credits for the major. To be in better alignment with current National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) standards—which stipulate that theatre core and major be 65% of a student’s total credit hours—we wish to add another six credits of elective courses to the degree, bringing the total to 78 credits. Making these credits performance electives will allow students room to take additional acting, dance, music cabaret, advanced performance installation class, topics course, or production credit based on their interests. V Copies and Electronic Submission Once approved, the original, a paper copy and an electronic file are submitted to the Faculty Senate Office, UH 221 (camie.foos@mso.umt.edu).
