COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Intensive scene and project work with an emphasis on integration of advanced skills.
OBJECTIVES:
To bring graduate students to an application and understanding of the physical, vocal, emotional, and technical skill necessary to either thrive in the professional world or teach acting at The
University level. A deep commitment to the craft of acting and the art of theatre is required for success in this course.
The class will consist of monologue work, scene study in the context of one play, and investigation into the various acting techniques in use today. We will also be creating new works generated by the students and analyzing various aspects of American Acting.
There may be a final project with this class.
Projects may sometimes be advertised to the population of the School of Theatre & Dance so you may have an audience with whom to interact.
All participants in this class must come prepared to work, with the appropriate attitude, passion, focus, preparation and clothing.
All Theatre & Dance students must have an in-depth knowledge of the practices and procedures outlined in the School of Theatre & Dance Handbook. The Handbook is available online at http://www.sfa.umt.edu/drama/index.html
Academic Misconduct and the Student Conduct Code.
All students must practice academic honesty. Academic misconduct is subject to an academic
penalty by the course instructor and/or disciplinary sanction by the University. All students need to be familiar with the student conduct code. The Code is available for review online at www.umt.edu/SA/VPS/Index.cfm/page/1321
