U 327 Film Genres 3 cr. (R-9) Offered every other year. Prereq. ENFM 180.
Intensive study of central works within one major film genre.
Justification: How does the course fit with the existing curriculum? Why is it needed?
Film genre courses are standard “category” course s in many Film Studies curricula, and this course
listing will allow us to more accurately characterize film genre courses that have been and will continue
to be taught at The University of Montana (e.g., Phil Fandozzi’s Crime Films, Jocelyn Siler’s Film Noir,
Angelica Lawson’s Film and the Americana West, etc.) We have been teaching genre film courses under
ENFM 381 (Studies in Film), currently an overused number in our program.
Are there curricular adjustments to accommodate teaching this course?
no
Complete for UG courses. (UG courses should be assigned a 400 number).
Describe graduate increment (Reference guidelines: http://www.umt.edu/facultysenate/Grad/UG.htm)
Fees may be requested only for courses meeting specific conditions determined by the
Board of Regents. Please indicate whether this course will be considered for a fee.
