The College of Business Administration is currently spread out amongst several floors in Carl Wimberly Hall. In the interest of consolidation and efficiency, UW-L has designated Wittich Hall to be the new location for this College. During the spring of 2014, UW-L, with student support, set aside funding for the renovation of Wittich Hall for this purpose. This repurposing of Wittich Hall requires that the UW-L gymnastics team find a new location for practicing. After considering different options for the relocation of gymnastics, the University drafted a plan to construct a new field house situated between Veteran’s Memorial Stadium and Emerson Elementary School. The proposed field house would enable the University to take the following steps: The student funded portion of this project would include: ● The construction of an environmentally sustainable building that is LEED-certified Silver approaching Gold ● The construction of NCAA regulation track facilities; allowing UW-L to host dual invitational and national championships as well as other major competitions ● The addition of four NCAA regulation indoor tennis courts; allowing UW-L to host national championships ● The construction of recreational facilities accessible to the entire student population As a result of students funding the field house, the University would fund the following: ● The renovation of the current Mitchell Hall field house for shared use by gymnastics, wrestling, and ESS (Exercise and Sport Science) courses—would be open to student body after ESS classes ○ Approximately 15,000 sq ft for each gymnastics and ESS ○ Approximately 6,000 sq ft for wrestling ● The resurfacing of two (2) artificial turf fields—one soccer field both open to athletic and student recreational purposes and one football field open to student recreational purposes ● The resurfacing of one (1) artificial turf field ○ one soccer field both open to athletic and student recreational purposes which will be constructed within the short term portion of the project For more information about the Fieldhouse project and the other projects that will be implemented as a result, please visit this link: http://www.uwlax.edu/RecSports/Student-Fieldhouse-Concept/ The proposed field house is a $25 million project. The first $5 million will be contributed by the University, and the remaining $20 million is student-funded and will come from the following increased segregated fee structure: ● 2015-2016: $10 per semester ● 2016-2017: $20 per semester ● 2017-2018: $30 per semester ● 2018-2048: $66 per semester Please check one of the following statements: I support the proposed field house project as outlined above and the proposed fee schedule ___ I reject the proposed field house project as outlined above and the proposed fee schedule ___
