Professional Internship: Natural Land Management Coordinator
Can be classified as Student Intern or Graduate Intern depending on qualifications
2014 Pay Rates (2015 rates TBD): Intern: $8.46-11.65/hr, Graduate Intern: $10.93-14.12/hr
Position works up to 40 work hours weekly – mainly part-time hours in the Spring and Fall, with
more full time hours in the summer months. Intern/Employee is expected to work some
evenings and weekends, other weekday hours are flexible. County Vehicle is provided for use
during work hours. Preferred starting date is mid-March 2015, but will consider individuals who
cannot begin until April or May.
Job Description:
 Work with Park Program Specialist, Park Supervisors, and Conservation Biologist to
develop Natural Land Management work projects for volunteer groups.
 Work with Park System Field Staff to coordinate Natural Land Management projects for
given year.
 Develop work plans for volunteer work projects to accomplish within their allotted time,
including coordination of tools and supplies, design plans, and procedures for inclement
weather.
 Serve as Crew Leader for volunteers on various projects, including greeting group on
site, giving instructions on project details, monitoring work from start to finish, and
providing summary of work accomplished to various Park System staff.
 Attend weekly Ecology Team Meetings
 Maintain Records - Natural Land Management accomplishments, Equipment Inventory,
Volunteer Records, Waukesha County forms, Timesheets, Project Lists, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
This is a professional internship; applicant should be a current student or recent graduate
with a degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, or related field
Ability to work with individuals and large groups and independently
Ability to read and understand the Natural Land Management Plan for Waukesha County Park
System: Understand the type and quality of each management unit, the goals and
objectives of each management unit, and the different management procedures for each
management unit
Knowledge of Plant Identification
Knowledge of tools and equipment necessary for Natural Land Management
Knowledge of safe work habits
