We have an opportunity for a Senior Resource Forester to coordinate the harvesting and
marketing of wood on approximately 100,000 acres of Plum Creek property between Carrollton and Rome, Georgia, including some
property in eastern Alabama. This position will be home based and report to the Carrollton, GA office, as needed. This position will be a
part of a results focused team consisting of three Senior Resource Foresters, a Resource Forester, and a Forest Technician. Carrolton has a
population of approximately 25,000. It is home of the University of West Georgia and is conveniently located West of Atlanta, Georgia.
Surrounding communities within an easy commute to this territory include Cedartown, Georgia, and Centre, Alabama.
As a Senior Resource Forester, you will have an opportunity to:
- direct the marketing, harvesting, and hauling of timber on your assigned land base
- administer timber harvesting, timber hauling, and road maintenance contracts
- forecast timber volumes in order to meet customer and contractor commitments
- negotiate timber sale agreements with local mills and/or timber dealers
- participate in silvicultural activities including fertilization, site prep and planting
- ensure compliance with environmental and SFI principles
- interact with the public, government agencies, and other industry professionals
This position will require you to spend 75% of your time in the field doing a variety of tasks such as harvest planning, contract
administration, and supply chain management. Approximately 25% of your time will be spent in the office documenting forest practices
and applications. There is frequent, daily travel within the unit, and a company vehicle is assigned with incidental personal commuting
allowed. There will be occasional overnight travel.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related field is required.
- At least five years of experience is required, preferably in forestry including timber harvesting, managing logging contracts and log sale
agreements.

- Interpersonal skills to work well with co-workers, contractors, and other internal and external associates.
- Track record of being a team player
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Working knowledge of SFI, timber harvesting, timber cruising, and timber merchandising
- Experience with Forestry related forecasting and budgeting
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize
- Computer proficiency with various Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint
- Effective negotiating skills
- Working knowledge of GIS/GPS systems

Salary: $57,100 - $75,700 with up to 22% bonus potential- Paid relocation assistance available based on individual circumstances.
