POSTING Req. No: JOB TITLE: ESH Environmental Engineer DEPARTMENT: ESH MANAGER: ESH Manager ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serve as site liaison for state, local and federal authorities. Provide technical environmental support for proposed and approved manufacturing projects. Responsible for management and manifesting of hazardous and universal wastes including but not limited to scheduling shipments, proper storage, labeling, employee training and spill prevention. Provide environmental training for compliance programs including DOT/RCRT, waste handling and emergency responders; provide general environmental awareness orientation and ongoing training for site personnel. Responsible for maintaining compliance with site air permits, required monitoring data and MSEIQ (Minor Source Emission Inventory Questionnaire). Maintain site chemical inventory and MSDS database in compliance with the OSHA Standard Communication (29 CFR 1910.1000) and EPA guidelines. Complete environmental reports for IDNR and EPA, including NPDES DMRs, Tier II and EPCRA Form R. Maintain compliance with Marshalltown Waterworks Sewer Ordinance including daily flow monitoring, sampling and reporting. Responsible for environmental inspection programs for the operation including but not limited to good environmental management practices, hazardous waste areas, SWPPP & SPCC and TSDF reviews of waste handlers. Manage recycling programs for wood, paper, steel, cardboard, paper and plastic. Participate in Emerson and Business Unit Environmental Audits; ensure timely completion of open action items. Develop and manage cost reduction programs for the site relating to environmental (i.e. waste minimization, energy and water conservation, material substitution, etc.). Monitor and report progress of environmental improvement programs. Ensure adequate records are maintained and available as required by local, state and federal regulations and conform to internal record retention guidelines. Provide technical environmental support for proposed and approved manufacturing projects Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs Review practices, processes, procedures and programs evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree in Environmental Management or Engineering or related technical discipline Experience with environmental management in a manufacturing environment and facility Superior understanding of root cause analysis Must have good written and verbal communication skills Solid computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and MS Outlook Strong organizational, planning and decision making skills required with ability to work as a team member Aggressive self-starter Posting of this position does not guarantee a relocation package.
