ORGANIZATION
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and
service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML
applies state-of-the-art science to foster sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on
Department of Defense and other public lands. We provide technical support in environmental disciplines,
conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource
stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues,
leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain the resource base.

POSITION
Colorado State University and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands are hiring one
seasonal Wildlife/Invasive Species Management field crew employee to conduct field work at Fort McCoy
Military Installation, Wisconsin from approximately May 19th through September 5th, 2014. Position is
funding dependent and could extend beyond the dates projected, not to exceed 9 months.
JOB DUTIES
Employee will be part of a 4-6 person field crew that will perform the following tasks:
• Main duties: Control invasive plant and shrub species through means of herbicide, manual and
biological control. Conduct invasive plant surveys. Operate backpack sprayers, UTV with
broadcast sprayer and Truck with broadcast sprayer.
• Occasionally assist in game species management data collection (grouse drumming surveys,
species population data collection, and harvest data collection and registration).
• Individuals hired are expected to work in a variety of environmental conditions and may be
subject to work in rugged terrain, heat, humidity, rain and wind.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license; Individual must already possess or have the ability to possess a valid Wisconsin
Forestry/Right of Ways herbicide applicators license (employment is contingent upon applicant’s ability to
possess and maintain the appropriate herbicide applicators license); Ability to work well within a crew
setting; Have knowledge of Wisconsin’s flora; Possess aerial photo interpretation skills and knowledge
of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
WORK HOURS
Applicants should expect to work up to 40 hours/week Monday-Friday. The possibility exists for
shortened work weeks due to inclement weather.
WAGE
$11.00 per hour or greater depending upon qualifications.
HOUSING
Housing is not available on Fort McCoy; rentals are available in the nearby towns of Sparta, Tomah,
