College Overview
Western Technical College is one of 16 Wisconsin technical colleges that make up the
Wisconsin Technical College System. Western is located in La Crosse, Wis. We have
five regional locations in Black River Falls, Independence, Mauston, Tomah, and
Viroqua. Western offers many programs that lead to an associate of applied science
degree. These programs are in four divisions: Business, General Studies, Health and
Public Safety, and Industrial Technologies.

Department Overview
The Marketing and Communications department coordinates Western Technical
College’s advertising, marketing, and public relations efforts. We connect with our
graduates, current students, and staff to collect personal stories that enhance the
essential experience brand.
Position Summary
The unique stories of our students and staff help differentiate Western and create a
lasting impression with our audiences. We’re looking for a strong writer to help us
capture those stories to use across a variety of platforms – from print marketing pieces
to news releases and social media posts. This position will provide an opportunity for
the graduate student to relate to a variety of students and learn about backgrounds and
factors that impact learning.

Relate to a diverse group of Western students and staff members.
Attend college events to take photos and gather feature style stories.
Conduct man-on-the-street interviews for social media.
Interview staff and students for feature stories on our online newsroom.
Other duties as assigned.
