COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course gives instruction in business practices and procedures in
partnerships, corporations, negotiable instruments, current and fixed asset
valuation, and departmental sales.

Rental Textbook: College Accounting, 9th Edition, McQuaig & Bille, ISBN:
0-618-824-170/978-0618-824-175. Houghton Mifflin Co., 2008. Contact the
college book store for rental information.
Purchase: Working Papers with Study Guide 14-26 to Accompany College
Accounting, 9th Edition, McQuaig & Bille, Approximate cost is $35.00-$40.00

ATTENDANCE
The format of the class allows complete student control of their work
schedule within the confines of deadlines established by the course calendar.
All work is expected to be completed and delivered on time. Students not
submitting the first assignment on time will be dropped from the course.
After that, it is the responsibility of the student to drop the course if they are
unable to turn in work as scheduled. Contact the counseling center or the
distance learning help desk for drop deadlines and procedures.
Students can expect to spend approximately 12 hours per week reading,
doing homework assignments, and completing exams (midterm & final are
proctored).All students are expected to turn in homework on the original
working papers pages. This course is not delivered through the Etudes
program.
ASSIGNMENTS
Homework assignments from each chapter as well as multiple choice/short
answer open book exams are given. The Midterm and Final exams are
proctored. Proctored exams are available at the LRC, TCI Lab, and from the
instructor. Late work will have the score reduced by 10%. Students can
submit their work via U.S. postal mail, the LRC on campus, through the TC
aides at TCI, in person, or via the ETUDES course management software
(other than homework). Deadlines for homework and exams are defined
below. Assignments must be received/postmarked/submitted by the due
date. Late assignments will receive reduced points. Students who do not
meet the first assignment deadline will be dropped from class. After that it
is your responsibility to drop the class. Students may also be dropped from
the class if they are not making "continuing progress" defined as turning in
work as scheduled. Those wishing their work returned should provide a self
addressed stamped envelope for this purpose. Midterm and Final
examinations will not be returned. Graded exams may be viewed at the Taft
College LRC upon request. Grade information will be provided by email or
postal mail at your request.
PROCTORS
The LRC at Taft College has proctoring hours, or see the Proctor
Identification Procedures for directions on how to set up a proctor for
approval. All proctors must be approved prior to use. Be sure to submit
information for approval the first week of the course.

THE GRADING SCALE WILL BE: A- 90%, B-80%, C-70%, D-60%, F<60%
CALENDAR:
The calendar is intended as a suggested pace for covering the material which
parallels the traditional classroom course. Students are only bound by the
deadlines for work to be turned in. Students using US Postal Service to
submit work must insure that it is postmarked by the date due. The final
exam must be in my hands by May 20!
CHAPTER HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS:
Homework assignments are from the study guide. To get maximum benefit
from the homework assignments you should do the following:
Answer the questions.
Check your answers with the answer keys in the back of the study guide.
Correct any errors.
Do the Demonstration problem. Check your work to the answer form.
Turn in HW on time.
For each chapter assigned, do all study guide questions (Parts 1-4) and the
demonstration problem as well as the assigned problem. Turn in homework
on the original working papers pages. Points will be given for completed
homework assignments. Reduced points will be received for late
submissions.
