BUSN 2275-30 Business Law Syllabus
(3 UNITS) DISTANCE LEARNING OFFLINE
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is a survey of the principles of business law with particular
emphasis given to contracts, sales, negotiable instruments, and trade
regulations.
Advisory: Eligibility for English 1000 and Reading 1005 strongly
recommended.

ATTENDANCE
The format of the class allows complete student control of their work
schedule within the confines of deadlines established by the course calendar.
All work is expected to be completed and delivered on time. Work can
be submitted via the LRC at Taft College, through the TC aides at TCI,
US mail, or via FAX. Students not submitting the first assignment on
time will be dropped from the course. After that, it is the responsibility
of the student to drop the course if they are unable to turn in work as
scheduled. Contact the counseling center or the distance learning help
desk for drop deadlines and procedures.
Work on the class every week. Continuous work is necessary for
success. Expect to spend 8 to 10 hours per week reading, completing
assignments, and taking exams.
ASSIGNMENTS
Graded assignments consist of multiple choice exams and essays. The
Midterm and Final Exams are proctored. The LRC at Taft College has
proctoring hours, or see the Proctor Identification Procedures for
directions on how to set up a proctor for approval. All proctors must
be approved prior to use. Be sure to submit information for approval
the first week of the course.

CALENDAR:
The calendar is intended as a suggested pace for covering the material which
parallels the traditional classroom course. Students are only bound by the
deadlines for work to be turned in.
A scantron is mandatory for the exams. Tests can be taken in the LRC at Taft
College, at the TCI Education Department, or at a proctored site arranged with
the instructor. Students using US Postal Service to submit work must insure that
it is delivered no later than the date due. The final exam must be in my hands
by December 15, 2008!
