SELECTION OF DIVISION CHAIRPERSONS
Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, Division Chairpersons will be appointed
by the Superintendent after consideration of the recommendation of the members of the
division. They will be directly responsible to the Vice President of Instruction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DIVISION CHAIRPERSON
The following activities will be performed regarding the division under the supervision of
the Vice President of Instruction:
1.
Prepare/review yearly goals and objectives as part of annual assessment.
2.
Coordinate submission and return of division budget requests.
3.
Develop a two-year master schedule of classes and instructor assignments in
consultation with counseling staff and the Vice President of Instruction for approval
by the Board of Trustees.
4.
Provide current course outlines with prerequisites, corequisites, and advisories
separately reviewed.
5.
Recommend textbooks.
6.
Implement the materials selection policy for library books, periodicals and other
items.
7.
Participate in the screening and selection of faculty, tutors, and instructional aides
(chair or designee given compensatory time or in-service time for summer work to
be arranged with the Vice President of Instruction).
8.
Assist in articulation activities with the local high schools and four-year institutions
of higher education.
9.
Serve on the curriculum and general education committee, matriculation steering
committee, and attend monthly division chairs meeting.
10. Chair the “full” program review team.
11. Hold divisional meetings as necessary to accomplish the aforementioned activities.
12. Participate in the evaluation process.
13. Attend one appropriate conference yearly.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
