• Appeared pre‐bloom
• Mines were empty at that time
• One generation per year
• First time observed
– 15+ years of observation
• We need live material from active mines for rearing

• Collected near Idaho City ID
• from Penstemon deustus
• Will feed on foliage, buds, flowers, fruits
• C. extensa is polyphagous
• mints, mullien, tobacco

HEBO Seed Weevil

• No seed weevils were found in CO during 2008 • 2 sites were collected for research project
• Weevils have always been found during bloom and early pod growth
• Taxonomy work is still ongoing
