HWM Courses HWM Course Instruction The HWM program is offered in partnership with UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Superior, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Extension. The courses in the HWM program will be taught by instructors the different UW campuses, but your degree will be awarded from the campus you have chosen as your home campus. HWM Course Instruction UW-Extension coordinates and oversees the program across all of the partner campuses. UW-Extension houses the online class platform (D2L) which HWM students will use to access the courses online. This way, students from all of the partner campuses can be in the same HWM class. More about the HWM Courses Course descriptions for the individual HWM courses can be found at the HWM website: http://hwm.wisconsin.edu/program-information/courseinformation.aspx Fall colors at UWSP’s Old Main. HWM Course Instruction You will be communicating with both UW-Extension and UWStevens Point as you move through the program. Jen Simpson is the UW-Extension Student Services Specialist for the HWM program. She will contact you with your registration passcode and any information for students from all partner campuses. HWM Program Tuition Information The tuition for the HWM program courses is at a ‘Per Credit’ rate. This means that there is no tuition plateau (reduction) for students taking an overload of credits. The current tuition rate is available at the following link: http://hwm.wisconsin.edu/program-information/tuition.aspx There are no additional fees… (Traditional UWSP students have ‘seg’ fees added to the tuition to cover costs of the students center, student clinic and other campus services that distance students most likely will not use. Lab fees and distance learning fees are also commonly added onto campus courses.) There is no registration deposit required if you are only taking HWM courses. The registration deposit required by most other UWSP students will be waived as long you are taking only HWM courses for the semester. For new UWSP students… The matriculation fee required by most other UWSP students will be waived. This fee is a one time fee applied to all new freshman and new transfer students except those in distance programs like HWM and is used to cover new student program orientation, convocation and commencement ceremonies. There will be a fee at the time of graduation to cover graduation expenses. This fee will be applied to your tuition bill at the time of graduation. Be sure to check your tuition account balance on your myPoint account to make sure you are being assessed correctly. If you think there has been an error in your billing, contact the Accounts Receivable office: 715-346-2118 YOUR UWSP myPoint ACCOUNT myPoint Any communication from UWSP will be through your myPoint account. Campus announcements, your course schedule, even the balance you owe on your tuition is information obtained through myPoint. Registering for Courses How to Register for Classes Because the courses are housed with UW-Extension but your transcripts and diploma will come from your home campus, registrations need to be processed through both the UW-Extension system and the UW-Stevens Point system. Registration through the UW-Extension system ensures your ‘seat’ in the course with all students, including those from partner institutions. How to Register for Classes Registration through the UW-Stevens Point system records your course for your transcripts. Grades are posted through this system. Financial aid is also processed based on your course enrollment as reflected in the UW-Stevens Point system. An explosion of autumn color welcomes students to the fall semester at UWSP. How to Register for Classes You will be responsible for registering through the UWExtension system. Vicki Carlson will process your registration through the UWSP system based on the enrollment reports she receives from UW-Extension. View of Old Main behind the Communication Building. How to Register for Classes If you have not yet already, you should be receiving a registration username and password from UW-Extension. How to Register for Classes Before using your username and passcode to register through the HWM website, each semester you need to connect with your UWSP advisor to confirm that you are eligible to enroll in the courses you plan on taking. Once you have confirmed your course plan, proceed with registering through the HWM website. HPHD students display at an Employee Wellness conference. How to Register for Classes You will be notified of the day registration opens for courses in the HWM program for the upcoming semester. Note that because the HWM program is in collaboration with other UW universities and not solely a UWSP program, the registration appointment time on your UWSP myPoint will not be correct. There are certain situations that could prevent your registration from being processed in the UWSP system. The UWSP athletic logo recently was updated. Issues That Can Prevent Registration The $100 registration deposit that is required for most UWSP students is waived for students in the online Health and Wellness Management program taking HWM courses. However, if you are also registering for other nonHWM courses this deposit is required. In other words, you will not have to pay this before registering unless you are taking campus courses other than HWM courses. If you are taking other campus courses besides HWM courses, your registration will be held until the deposit is paid. The deposit can be paid online through the following billpay site: http://www.uwsp.edu/bursar/Pages/Bill-Pay.aspx Issues That Can Prevent Registration The tuition balance from a previous semester must be paid in full before your registration will be able to process for the following semester. Note that your tuition balance is available for you to review on your myPoint account. If you have questions about your tuition balance, contact the Bursar’s office: 715-346-2088 http://www.uwsp.edu/bursar/Pages/Contact.aspx Chancellor Patterson with the cupola on the top of Old Main. Check to Confirm Your Schedule Check your course schedule on your myPoint page to confirm the schedule is correct. An error in your UWSP schedule can affect your financial aid, grades on your transcript and your tuition bill. It is important you verify the schedule is correct. Be sure to log in sometime the first week of class to make sure you understand the class expectations and to check assignment deadlines. The north side of the Noel Fine Arts Building in early spring. Attendance Reporting Instructors are to report students that have not attended class during the first 8 days of class. Those that have not attended are automatically dropped from the class. Online course instructors comply with this campus procedure by having some assignment due before the 8th day of the online class. Students who do not complete this assignment are considered to have not attended. UWSP adopted a new logo in 2013 Attendance Reporting Automatic Drop Students that have been automatically dropped from the course because they were reported as not attending during the first 8 days must contact their instructor for permission if they want to be reregistered for the course. If the instructor approves, the instructor must contact the UWSP Enrollment Services office to let them know they approve. The cupola in fall. Attendance Reporting Automatic Drop Since your HWM course instructor may be from a partner UWcampus, faculty and staff at UWSP will not necessarily know the instructor information for the HWM instructor you need to contact. If you do not have access to the name and contact information for your instructor, contact the UW-Extension Student Services Specialist, Jen Simpson 1-877-895-3276 hwm@uwex.edu for instructor name and contact information. Dropping Courses Careful consideration should be given when determining whether or not to drop a course. Depending on when in the semester a course is dropped, all or part of the tuition for that course may still be due. See the tuition refund chart on the following website: http://www.uwsp.edu/ar/Pages/Deadlines.aspx Note: Though a registration deposit is not required for those taking only HWM courses, a $100 fee is assessed when dropping all courses for a semester if not done weeks before the beginning of the semester. If registered for non-HWM courses which required a registration deposit, the registration deposit may be nonrefundable as well. Dropping courses may impact your financial aid award. For more information, visit the following website: http://www.uwsp.edu/finaid/Pages/withdrawals.aspx Contact the Financial Aid office for information about how dropping courses will affect your Financial Aid: 715-346-3526. Deadline dates for registration deposit refunds, as well as other disclosure information, can be found at the following website: http://www.uwsp.edu/regrec/Pages/Cancellations.aspx Dropping Courses If circumstances arise that require a course to be dropped, the course will need to be dropped in both the UW-Extension and the UW-Stevens Point system. To drop the course in the UW-Extension system, contact Jen Simpson, the UW-Extension Student Services Specialist to notify her that the course will need to be dropped from your schedule. This will drop you from the class lists. To drop the course through the UWSP system within the first 8 days of the semester, you may be able to drop the course online through your myPoint account unless you are dropping all courses for that semester. If past day 8 or dropping all courses, contact Vicki Carlson, 715-346-4782 or vcarlson@uwsp.edu. She will assist in processing your drop request. Dropping Courses Dropping all courses in a given semester is classified as a Cancelation/Withdraw. Contact the Enrollment Services office if you are canceling or withdrawing for the semester: http://www.uwsp.edu/enrollmentservices/Pages/default.aspx If circumstances arise the require you to Cancel/Withdraw for a semester, you can register the following semester without reapplying for admission to UWSP. If two or more semesters pass, you may have to re-apply. If you have questions about re-applying to UWSP, contact the Admissions office: 715346-2441 or admiss@uwsp.edu UWSP’s Schmeeckle Reserve is a 280 acre natural area that is part of the UWSP campus.
