The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:35 p.m. with Dr. Jeanette Jones, president, presiding. Motion: Gerald Vines Second: Rhonda Lang Vote: Motion Carried Corrections duly noted: The senate distribution of the October meeting announcement failed to reach Dr. Mira Kruja, Dr. Lynne Edmondson, and Dr. Halima Qureshi for notice of last month’s meeting. Business Approval by Consensus Action: To approve Dr. Delores Price as chaplain of the AAMU Faculty Senate as there is a chaplain in the United States Senate. Vote: Approval by consensus Objections: None Other Business Senate President Jones gave updates concerning the AAMU Board of Trustees: the departure of the AAMU Vice President of Student Affairs for a new position, the addition of Dr. Jerome Williams as chair of the academic affairs subcommittee, new degree programs including Animal Bio Health Sciences, the University’s preparation for SACS, the quest for a new vice president for the division of business and finance, the need for a director of sponsored programs, the capital campaign fundraising efforts. She also provided a summary of her report to the BOT for the October 10th meeting. Copies will be provided. However, the report included discussion of the following: the two percent raise, salary compression, SREB proposal revisiting, faculty contributions to the capital campaign, retirement salaries, research incentive plans, (the BOT’s former approval of research incentive plans), PEEHIP’s approval by faculty senate, fair market value salaries, and a university club.
