Position: Academic Department Associate – 87.5%
Department: Serving the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Political Science

Pay Schedule-range: 02-11, minimum $15.42, based on qualifications and experience
Work Location: Collins Classroom Center, 1801 Fourth Avenue, Stevens Point, WI 54481
Shift: 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Position Description: The successful candidate for this position will provides administrative assistance to the
Chairpersons, the Departments of Philosophy and Political Science as a body, and the individual faculty of the
Departments of Philosophy and Political Science, as time permits. While most of the work is done independently,
this position operates in a team environment. This position reports to the Chairpersons of the Departments of
Philosophy and Political Science. Duties will be split 50% Philosophy Department and 50% Political Science

Department/University Description: The Department of Philosophy at UWSP offers courses for students who
major in Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, or Religious Studies, and contributes to the General Education
Program of the University.
The Political Science Department at UWSP has seven faculty members and approximately 150 Political Science
and Public Administration majors and minors. The department places a high value on excellence in
undergraduate education and faculty research.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Operate effectively in a team environment
- Ability to organize work and time, prioritize, and multitask
- Outstanding communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of computer technology (internet, network options, email, word processing and
spreadsheets)
Preferred:
Previous supervision experience
Appointment Date: July 1, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: This is a permanent 87.5% University Staff position that will split its time between the
Philosophy and Political Science departments. This position will be required to serve a six-month probation
period. Extended hours may be necessary in the beginning of each semester to interview/schedule/meet with
student employees.
