Position: Library Director/Associate Dean of University College
Department: University Library
Hayes Hill Title: Associate Dean (A51NN)
Position Description: Closely collaborating with library faculty and staff, the Library Director/Associate
Dean of University College provides leadership for all aspects of library services, resources, and programs
in support of student learning, academic programs, and faculty teaching and research. As an advocate for
the library, the Library Director/Associate Dean develops and maintains positive relationships with
students, faculty, and staff on campus, as well as with the community at large. The Library
Director/Associate Dean reports to the Dean of University College and participates as a member of the
administrative team of the University College. This position is a half-time library faculty member and a

Department/University Description: The University Library is a member of the University College. The
mission of the Library is to provide users with information in support of teaching, student learning,
scholarly activity and research, and curricular development. The Library utilizes technology to provide
on-campus and remote access to its resources. The staff of the Library also provides consultation and
advisory services to groups and individuals, and participates in professional activities that enhance the
mission of the university at the regional, national, and international levels.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, part of the University of Wisconsin System, is a leading

enrolled with a student faculty ratio of 20:1 in the classroom. While primarily serving undergraduates
through a variety of baccalaureate programs, UW-Stevens Point also offers several master's level graduate

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-ALA-accredited MLS degree
-Minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic library
required. This experience should include personnel management, project management, budget
management, and conflict resolution.
-A sustained record of scholarly and professional achievement appropriate for tenure
-Excellent communication and organizational abilities
-Effective instructional skills
-Flexibility in adapting to change
-Demonstrated ability in leadership roles and a collaborative management style that fosters trust, respect,
and successful working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
-Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary library practices, trends, and emerging technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
-Doctorate in library science or related field
-Large-scale budget management
Appointment Date: July 1, 2016
Terms of Employment: This position is a 12-month, full-time appointment with a full tenure-track faculty
appointment with half-time limited appointment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
