University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Counseling and Testing Center
The UW-L Counseling & Testing Center (CTC) offers comprehensive counseling services and
works closely with the campus Student Health Center to offer medical and psychiatric services.
CTC staff work together as a collegial interdisciplinary team, and staff have a variety of
theoretical orientations (including client-centered, strengths-based, feminist, CBT, DBT, and
ACT approaches). Our campus values the importance of mental health, and the CTC staff works
in close collaboration with numerous campus offices and partners, including Residence Life, the
Office of Multicultural Student Services and Campus Climate, Pride Center, International
Education & Engagement, Veteran Services, and Wellness Resource Center. CTC is centrally
located on campus in Centennial Hall, a modern building constructed in 2011. The full range of
clinical services are provided to both undergraduate and graduate students at UW-L. The CTC
focuses on providing effective short-term therapy; however, selected longer-term cases may be
available to residents. Our testing center offers a variety of national testing programs such as
ACT, Praxis, and GRE to UW-L students and local community members. Additionally, CTC
clinical staff may provide psychological assessments and interpretation for clients and groups
(e.g., MMPI). CTC also offers workshops and individual sessions focusing on academic skills
such as test preparation and managing test anxiety.
CTC staff focus on providing inclusive and culturally competent services to the UWL
community. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse believes our campus community is enriched
by exposure to differing ideas, opinions, and cultures. We believe that employees from diverse
backgrounds are critical to achieving inclusive excellence. We seek to recruit the most talented
people from a diverse candidate pool. We strongly encourage applications from persons with
diverse backgrounds and experiences.
