Des Moines Register 04-12-06 Veishea organizers hope to prevent problems REGISTER STAFF REPORT Students involved with organization of Veishea 2006 at Iowa State University said today they hope that the types of disturbances that have occured in the past will be avoided as more events are moved away from Campustown, the bar district in Ames. Veishea, one of the largest student run festivals in the country, was cancelled in 2005 due to student rioting in 2004. Opening ceremonies for this year's festival will be held April 21. Students pointed to the Taste of Veishea, an event where vendors usually sell food in Campustown, as one of the events that have moved to campus. "We know all eyes are on us this year," said Lauren Ellingson, an ISU student, in a meeting with the Des Moines Register's editorial board today.
