Adjunct Faculty Pool Guidelines
(04/25/2014)
It is expected that each department will develop a pool of adjunct faculty, from which
individuals can be assigned temporarily to teach extra sections and to fill specialized
appointments. This pool is not intended to deprive faculty of overload opportunities. It is
intended to ensure that we have the ability to meet the growing need of students, quick
responses to (last minute) scheduling needs, and that UWSP continues to be an equal
employment opportunity employer.
Departments will need to follow one of the following procedures to form a pool of adjunct
faculty:
A.
Direct Appointment into a pool:
1.
List candidate and his/her qualifications on the departmental pool
form. Submit a Waiver Request, Recommendation to Hire Form
(Form 10) and PAF when ready to hire the candidate.
B.
Search and screen to create a pool: Follow the truncated search process for
forming a pool as outlined by the Equity and Affirmative Action Office (EAA).
All forms and interview questions will need approval from the EAA Office.
The checklist for forming a pool and all hiring forms are available on the EAA
website, http://www.uwsp.edu/equity/Pages/hiringForms.aspx.
