Cyclones For Hokies Hold Fundraiser
Group Works To Raise Awareness
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The group "Cyclones for Hokies" is collecting donations
through the end of the semester to send to the student body at Virginia Tech.
Students and faculty also got together Tuesday to talk about and reflect upon last
week's tragic shootings.
Organizers of the event said it's important that people don't forget what
happened as they go on with their daily lives.
"I think we shouldn't lose focus on what happened at another school and I think
one of the students on campus said it could have happened here, and we cannot
treat it as business like usual. We need to reflect on what happened," said Vijay
Kanagala.
Organizers said they also hope the meeting will help prevent any kind of
backlash against Asian-American students on the Iowa State University campus.
