Listen to the radio segment linked from the course website and answer the
questions below on a separate sheet of paper. Your answers should be
200-300 words for each question, and should talk about specific aspects of
each study. This assignment is worth 1% extra credit on your final grade.

1. Discuss the designs of the two main studies that are mentioned in the segment. In
particular, mention at least one strength and one weakness of each experiment. Which
experiment do you think is better designed? Why?
2. Find another reputable media source that talks about study design. (It can be a printed
article or audio clip from news radio, but it must talk about specific aspects of an
experiment or observational study. Provide a complete citation using the MLA or APA
rules.) Discuss at least two strengths and two weaknesses of the design. Can you think
of any improvements or follow up studies that you would like to see?
