ISBN-10 : 0132306336; ISBN-13 : 978 − 0132306331. • Course Outline: Chapters Sections 1/0 1.1, 1.3 − 1.6; 0.7, Limits and quick Trig review. 2 2.1 − 2.9, The Derivative. 3 3.1 − 3.8, Applications of Derivative. 4 4.1 − 4.5, The Definite Integral. 5 5.1 − 5.6, Applications of the Integral. ∗ If time permits we will also cover section 1.2, 3.9 and 4.6. • Homework and Quizzes: – Homework will be assigned after each lecture. – There will be a weekly quiz on Friday and each quiz will be of 20 minutes duration. – Homework will not be collected, however I strongly recommend you working on them as the problems in the quizzes will be very similar to those assigned in the homework. – No make up Quiz will be given. • Exams: There will be two Midterms (50 minutes each) and one comprehensive Final exam (2 hours). • There will be No make up Exam. • Calculators: A basic Scientific Calculator should be sufficient for doing Homework, however no calculator is allowed for Quizzes and Exams. • Laptops and Cell Phones: Use of Laptops, Cell Phones, e.t.c., are strictly prohibited during the lecture. In case of emergency please take your ‘conversation’ out of the class. Grading. Quizzes 20 % – Grading policy: Your grade will be based on: Midterms (2) 50 % (25 % each) Final exam 30 % Exams. • Location: All the exams will take place in the regular class room MLI 1130 (including the final exam). • Exam Dates: – First Midterm: Wednesday, February 19, 11 : 50 AM − 12 : 40 PM. – Second Midterm: Friday, April 4, 11 : 50 AM − 12 : 40 PM. – Final Exam (Comprehensive): Friday, April 25, 10 : 30 AM − 12 : 30 PM. • Important Note: I reserve the right to change any policy during the semester. Many important information will be emailed to your CIS mail throughout the semester, so please check your mail regularly! • Tutoring: The Rushing Math Center offers free drop-in tutoring, a computer lab, and study areas for undergraduates, it is adjacent to the LCB and JWB.
