関西大学について
2016 年に創立 130 年を迎える関西大学は、13 の学部と 13 の大学院研究科、3 つの専門職
大学院をもつ日本屈指の私立大学で、800 人近い留学生を含む約 30,000 人の学生が学んでい
ます。
関西大学のキャンパスは 5 つあり、いずれも西日本最大の都市である大阪に位置していま
す。大阪は、歴史的な遺産が数多く残る京都や奈良に隣接していますので、留学生の皆さん
は、関西大学に留学しながら日本のさまざまな歴史や文化に触れられることでしょう。
Ⅰ　関西大学日本語・日本文化教育プログラム語学留学コース（以下、JLC）の概要
１ 概要
JLC は、関西大学千里山キャンパスで実施します。千里山キャンパスは、大阪の中心地
から電車で約 20 分と大変便利なばかりでなく、緑も多く静かで豊かな学習・生活環境が整

った地にあります。35 万 m の広大な敷地に、関西大学の 10 学部・10 大学院研究科・3 専
門職大学院の教育研究施設を備えています。
JLC は、海外の大学・大学院に在籍する学生を対象に、日本語・日本事情などを教授す
ることを目的としています。授業科目は「日本語科目」と「日本研究科目」に分かれ、
「日
本語科目」は日本語で、
「日本研究科目」は英語で授業を行います。
また、英語で実施される KUGF（関西大学グローバル・フロンティア）科目群「国際ビ
ジネス & アントレプレナーシップ」及び「国際教養科目ユニット」が受講できます。
２ 特長
JLC には、以下のような特長があります。
⑴　初級から日本語を勉強することができます。
JLC の日本語科目は、日本語を初めて学ぶレベル 1 から最上級のレベル 6 まで用意さ
れており、受講者は習熟度に合わせたレベルの授業を受けることができます。
⑵　多彩な日本研究科目を英語で学ぶことができます。
JLC では、日本語科目のほか、英語で授業を行う多彩な日本研究科目を用意していま
す。歴史、文化、文学、社会、政治・経済、科学・技術など、さまざまな観点から英語
で日本を学び、その知見を深めることができます。
⑶　KUGF 科目を受講できます。
受講生は、KUGF 科目群のうち、英語で行なうこれら科目を通じて、グローバルビジ
ネスやグローバル人材として必要となる高度なコミュニケーション能力、問題解決能力
について学ぶことができます。
⑷　関西大学の寮に住み、さまざまな学生とともに学ぶことができます。
JLC が実施される千里山キャンパスから自転車で 20 分ほど離れた場所に関西大学南千
里国際学生寮があり、JLC の受講生は、入寮を申請することができます。この寮では、
関西大学の学生がレジデント・アシスタント（ Resident Assistant ）として受講生と共に
生活し、受講生の日常生活をサポートしています。

⑸　「関西大学コミュニティー」の一員となります。
JLC の受講生は、関西大学コミュニティーの一員として学生生活を送ることになり、
日本人学生や交換留学生などとともにさまざまなアクティビティに参加することができ
ます。また、受講生一人ひとりに受講生証が発行され、図書館、IT センターといった関
西大学の施設を利用することができます。
３ 受講期間および受講開始時期
受講期間は 1 学期（半年）または 2 学期（ 1 年）です。
セメスター制を採用しているため、春学期（ 4 月～ 9 月）または秋学期（ 9 月～翌年 3
月）のいずれの学期からでも受講を開始することができます。

JLC の受講生は、1 学期につき、週 10 時間以上の授業を受講しなければなりません。
※英語を母語とする者、または英語を母語としない者は TOEFL・PBT 520 点、iBT 68 点程
度の英語能力を有することが望ましい。

⑴　外国籍を有し、外国において通常の課程による 12 年の学校教育を修了した者。

４ 募集期間および申込方法
⑴　募集期間
2015 年 8 月 1 日（土）～ 2015 年 11 月 30 日（月）必着
⑵　申込方法
申込は先着順です。受講希望者は、申込書類を整える前に、在籍大学を通じて、申し
込み可能かどうか、関西大学国際教育センターに定員の状況を確認してください。申し
込みが可能であることを確認後、すべての申込書類が募集期間の最終日までに本学に届
くよう、在籍大学を通じて、最終ページに記載の住所に送付してください。
５ 申込上の注意
⑴　在籍大学を通じて、申込書類を提出してください。
⑵　特に指定のある場合を除き、日本文または英文以外の書類には、必ず申込者の責任で
在籍大学の証明による日本語訳または英訳をつけてください。
⑶　申込書類に虚偽の記載があった場合は、受講を認めません。また、受講決定後に虚偽
の記載があることが判明した場合は、受講許可を取り消します。
⑷　申込書類における証明書等は、特に指定のある場合を除き、すべて原本を提出してく
ださい。
⑸　本学が必要と認めた場合、所定外の書類の提出を求める場合があります。
⑹　提出された書類は、原則として返却しません。
⑺　査証申請等の際に必要となることがありますので、申込書類一式の写しを各自保管し
てください。
６ 申込書類
⑴　受講申込書（本学所定の用紙）
申込者本人が日本語または英語で記入し、保証人（経費支弁者）の署名および在籍す
る大学・大学院の留学担当機関から推薦を証明する署名を得てください。
⑵　在籍する大学または大学院の在籍証明書
⑶　在籍する大学または大学院の成績証明書
⑷　日本語能力に関する証明書の写し
「日本留学試験（日本語）
」または「日本語能力試験」または「実用日本語検定（J.Test ）
」
を受験した者は、その成績証明書の写しを提出してください。
⑸　英語能力に関する証明書の写し
英語を母語としない者で TOEFL を受験したものは、その成績証明書の写しを提出し

⑹　健康診断証明書（本学所定の用紙）
医師により、日本語または英語で記載してください。
⑺　在留資格認定証明書交付申請書（日本国政府法務省所定の用紙）
⑻　パスポートの写し
パスポートの顔写真・氏名が記載されているページの写し、および日本への出入国歴
が有る者は出入国歴が記載されている全てのページの写しを提出してください。
（パスポ
ートを所有していない場合は、政府またはこれに準じる機関の発行した身分証明書の写
しを提出してください。
）
⑼　写真
6 枚（縦 4 cm×横 3 cm ）の裏面に氏名を記入し、1 枚を受講申込書に、さらに 1 枚を
在留資格認定証明書交付申請書に貼付し、残りの 4 枚を封筒に入れて提出してください。
なお、写真は最近 3 カ月以内に撮影したカラー写真で、正面、上半身脱帽で無背景のも
のに限ります。
⑽　経費支弁に関する書類
経費支弁者が複数の場合は、全員について記入してください。
申込者本人が経費を支弁する場合 ①　本人名義の預金残高証明書（日本に送金可能な銀行および通貨の証明書）
受講料＋生活費（目安：月額 100,000 円×半年または１年）以上の残高があるもの
を提出してください。

自営業の場合は、登記簿謄本の写し、営業許可書、または受付印のある確定申告書
控の写し等を提出してください。
④　住民票
⑤　本人との関係を証明する文書
経費支弁者が本人の親族の場合は、戸籍謄本、住民票、親族公証書等のうち、いず
れかを提出してください。経費支弁者が知人・友人の場合は、本人との関係を記した
説明書、一緒に写っている写真等を提出してください。
奨学金による場合 ①　奨学金給付額、給付期間、給付機関が記載された証明書を提出してください。
７ 受講手続（受講料の納入）
申込書類を精査したうえで、2015 年 12 月下旬に、在籍大学宛、受講手続書類を送付し
ます。受講希望者は、受講手続書類に従い、所定の期日までに 1 学期分の受講料（500,000
円）を納入してください。所定の期日までに受講手続を完了しない場合は、受講を許可し
ません。
８ 受講料（ 2016 年度受講生）
受講料は 1 学期につき 500,000 円です。
やむを得ない理由で、
受講を辞退する場合は、
受講開始日の前日

でに受講辞退を願い出た者に限り、
すでに納めた受講料の返還を請求することができます。
身体の機能に障がいのある人等は、その程度に応じ、授業の受講に際して特別な配慮
をする必要がありますので、申込に先立ち、関西大学国際教育センターに必ず申し出て
ください。
Ⅲ　在留資格取得に関する事項
１ 在留資格取得に関する手続き
留学生として日本に滞在するためには、原則として「留学」の在留資格を取得する必要
があり、申込者が受講手続を完了した後、本学が在留資格「留学」を取得するために必要
な「在留資格認定証明書（留学）
」交付の代理申請を行います。
「在留資格認定証明書（留学）
」が交付され次第、
「受講許可書」とともに在籍大学宛に送
付しますので、申込者は、速やかに現地にある日本国大使館または総領事館に行き、査証
申請手続きを行ってください。
⑴　在留資格「留学」以外の資格の代理申請は行いません。
「留学」以外の在留資格で日本に
滞在することを希望する場合は、申込者本人が直接、日本の入国管理局に相談してください。
⑵　受講手続を期間内に完了しない場合は、
「在留資格認定証明書（留学）
」の送付が遅れ、
入国に支障が出ますので注意してください。
⑶　代理申請の可否については、申込書類を基に本学が判断します。その結果、必要に応
じて経費支弁能力等を立証するための追加書類を提出していただく場合があります。代
理申請の可否について本学に対し異議を申し立てることはできません。

⑷　「在留資格認定証明書（留学）
」の交付は日本国法務省が行いますので、不交付となっ
た場合、大学は責任を負うことはできません。不交付となった場合は、日本に滞在する
資格を持たないため、本コースを受講することはできません。また、在留資格「短期滞
在」で日本に滞在し、本コースを受講することは認めませんので注意してください。
⑸　過去に在留資格認定証明書の交付を受けられなかった者は、その事由が解除されない
限り、新たに申請しても証明書は交付されません。不交付歴のある者は、必ず申込前に、
関西大学国際教育センターに申し出てください。
Ⅳ　生活案内
１ 住　居
JLC が実施される関西大学千里山キャンパスから自転車で 20 分ほど離れた場所に関西大
学南千里国際学生寮があり、JLC の受講生は、入寮を申請することができます。この寮で
は、関西大学の学生がレジデント・アシスタント（ Resident Assistant ）として受講生と共
に生活し、受講生の日常生活をサポートしています。
関西大学南千里国際学生寮（全 144 室）
□　寮室は全て個室とし、寮生のプライバシーを確保しています。
□　全寮室に、机・椅子・ベッド・クローゼットのほか、冷暖房・インターネッ
寮内設備等
ト（有線 LAN ）を完備しています。
□　関西大学のレジデント・アシスタント（ Resident Assistant ）が受講生の日常
生活をサポートします。
寮
費
入寮費：15,000 円
等 寮費：月額 30,000 円（光熱水費・寝具代・インターネット回線料等を含む。）
※寮費等は毎年度見直しを行います。
共 用 施 設 多目的室、シャワールーム、トイレ、洗面室、コインランドリー、キッチン等
※　寮には定員がありますので、先着順で申し込みを受け付け、満員になったときは外部の寮・
アパート等を紹介します。
２ 生活費
大阪で生活するためには、住居費を含めて少なくとも月額 100,000 円程度必要です。滞
在中の資金計画を立てる場合は、このことを十分考慮しておいてください。
３ 保険・医療
⑴　関西大学保健管理センター
千里山キャンパスに、医師・保健師・看護師が健康相談に応じる保健管理センターを
設置しています。また、同じく千里山キャンパスに、専門カウンセラー等がカウンセリ
ングを行う心理相談室を設けています。
⑵　国民健康保険
日本に 3 カ月を超えて滞在する外国人は、国民健康保険に加入する義務があります。
年額 25,000 円程度（関西大学がある吹田市の場合）の保険料を支払う必要があります
が、国民健康保険に加入すると、保険医療機関などで診療または薬の処方を受けた際、
医療費の 70％が国民健康保険によって補助され、一部負担金として医療費の 30％を支払
うだけで済みます。

Kansai University
In 2016 Kansai University will mark the 130th anniversary of its founding as one of the leading
comprehensive universities in Japan. Kansai University is a prestigious private university with 13
undergraduate and 13 graduate programs, and 3 professional graduate schools. There are over
30,000 students enrolled at the university including nearly 800 international students.
All 5 campuses of Kansai University are located in Osaka, the biggest city in Western Japan. Being
only one hour away by train from Kyoto and Nara, cities famous for their cultural heritage,
international students will have many opportunities to explore Japanese history and culture while
they study at Kansai University.
I Kansai University Japanese Language and Culture Program Japanese
Language and Culture Course (JLC, hereafter)
1 JLC
JLC takes place in Kansai University Senriyama Campus. Being approximately 20 minutes away
from downtown Osaka by train, the campus is convenient and situated in a beautiful and quiet
environment suitable for both living and studying. This spacious campus the size of 350,000
square meters is an educational and research institution with 10 undergraduate, 10 graduate
programs and 3 professional graduate schools. The purpose of JLC is to provide instruction in the
Japanese language and Japanese Culture to international students who are enrolled in universities
and graduate schools outside of Japan. The course consists of ‘Japanese Language Class’ and
‘Japan Studies Class.’ The former is taught in Japanese and the latter in English.
In addition to the above-mentioned classes, students in this course are also eligible to take classes
from the modules of “International Business & Entrepreneurship” and “Global Liberal Studies
Unit” offered by KUGF (Kansai University Global Frontier) curriculum.
2 Characteristics
JLC has 4 important characteristics:
(1)JLC accommodates students with beginner level of Japanese language.
JLC offers 6 levels of Japanese language from the beginner to advanced level so that students
are able to take classes in accordance with their linguistic ability (level of Japanese
proficiency).
(2)JLC offers varieties of classes on Japanology in English.
As well as Japanese language classes, varieties of Japan Studies classes are taught in English at
JLC. Students are able to look at Japan from various perspectives and enhance knowledge of
history, culture, literature, society, politics, science, and technology.
(3) Students can take KUGF classes.
Taught entirely in English, students will cultivate a high level of communication competency
through the KUGF classes. Students will also develop capabilities for problem-solving needed
in global business, and the attributes expected in internationally minded individuals.
(4)Students are able to live and learn with other international students as well as regular students
at a Kansai University dormitory.
Kansai University International Dormitory is located 20 minutes away by bicycle from
Senriyama Campus where the JLC takes place, and the students are able to apply for this
dormitory. In this dormitory, resident assistants who are students at Kansai University will live

in the dormitory to support the daily life of international students.
(5)Students will become a part of the Kansai University community.
Students enrolled in the JLC will be immersed in school life as a member of the Kansai
University community. Each student will be issued with student ID to use facilities at Kansai
University such as the library and IT Center. Also, students can participate in varieties of
activities with exchange students and Japanese students.
3 Period of Study and Admission
Period of study is either one semester (half a year) or two semesters (one year). The JLC
employs the semester system so that students can start the course either in the Spring (April September) or the Fall Semester (September - March next year).

2 Qualifications
Students who meet all the following requirements:
(1)Those who are foreign nationals and have completed 12-year curriculum of schooling in their
home country.

4 Application Period and Procedure
(1) Application Period
August 1, 2015 (Sat.)-November 30, 2015 (Mon.)
Application forms must be received no later than November 30, 2015 (Mon.)
(2) Application Procedure
The applications will be processed in order of arrival. Confirm the application availability with
home universities prior to the application. After the availability is confirmed, submit all the
application documents to the address stated in the last page of this course guide through your
home university.
5 Important Information for the Application
(1) Application documents must be submitted through students’ home universities.
(2) When the documents are written in a language other than Japanese or English, it is the
applicant’s responsibility to attach an official Japanese or English translation, certified by their
home university.
(3) The applicant will be deprived of the qualifications for attending the course, if any false
statements on the application documents are detected. Furthermore, entrance permission will be
cancelled, if false statements on the application documents are detected after the results are
issued.
(4) Submit the original copies of certifications for application except in specified cases.
(5) Applicants may be requested to submit additional documents if Kansai University considers
it necessary.
(6) The submitted documents will not be returned.
(7) Keep a copy of the application package in case the documents are needed for a visa
application.
6 Application Documents
(1)Application Forms (Forms designated by Kansai University)
The application forms must be filled out by the applicant either in Japanese or English with
signatures of a guarantor (sponsor) as well as a study abroad coordinator at home universities
to verify the applicant’s candidacy.
(2)Certificate of Enrollment from home university
(3)Official Transcript of home university
(4)A copy of the result of EJU, JLPT, or J-Test (if available)
(5)A copy of certificate to prove English language proficiency
If the applicant is not a native speaker of English, submit a copy of TOEFL scores (if
available).

(6)Certificate of Medical Examination (Forms designated by Kansai University)
The certificate must be filled out by a doctor either in Japanese or English.
(7)Application Form for Certificate of Eligibility (Forms designated by Ministry of Justice,
Government of Japan)
(8)Copy of Passport
Submit a copy of the following pages from your passport: The page including your name and
the photograph of your face as well as the page which includes all previous records of entry
and departure to and from Japan. (When the applicant does not possess a passport, submit a
copy of an Identification Card or documents issued by the government of the applicant’s home
country or any equivalent institutions.)
(9)Photograph
Send 6 photographs (full face without a hat against a plain background, 4 cm × 3 cm in size)
with the applicant’s name written on the back. One photograph should be attached to the
application form another to the application for certificate of eligibility. Place the rest together in
an envelope. The photographs must be in color, and have been taken within 3 months of the
application.
(10) Sponsor Documents
If there are more than two sponsors, fill in information for all of them.
In the case where the applicant will pay expenses
①Financial statement of the account under the name of the applicant (the bank must have the
ability to exchange the currency into JPY, and to transfer the money into a bank account in
Japan). Submit a financial statement of an account in which the balance exceeds the annual
tuition and living expenses (e.g., JPY100,000/month × 6 months or 12 months).

In the case where relatives of the applicant transfer funds from their home country

or Public Certification of Kinship.
In the case where funds will be provided by a sponsor in Japan

have the ability to exchange the currency into JPY and to transfer the money into a bank
account in Japan). Submit a financial statement of an account in which the balance exceeds

Submit Tax-Income Certificate or Tax Declaration Certificate which includes the sponsor’s
total income.

Submit a copy of the Registration, Certificate of Authority, or a copy of stamped Individual
Income Final Tax Return if the sponsor is self-employed.
④Resident Card of the guarantor / sponsor(s)
⑤A document which proves the relationship with the applicant
Submit one of the following if the guarantor / sponsor is a relative of the applicant: a copy
of Family Register, Birth Certificate, Resident Card or Public Certification of Kinship.
Submit one of the following when the guarantor / sponsor is a friend or an acquaintance of
the applicant: a document which explains the relationship with the applicant and a photo of
the sponsor and the applicant appearing together.
In the case where funding will be covered by a scholarship
① Submit a document which includes following information: (i)the amount you receive from
the scholarship, and (ii) the period and the source of the scholarship.
7 Registration Procedures (Payment of Tuition)
After the application forms are assessed, a registration guide will be sent to your home university
at the end of December, 2015. Read through and follow the guide to complete the payment of
JPY500,000 as tuition for the first semester by the deadline. No late payments will be accepted.
8 Tuition (2016 Application)
JPY500,000 per semester
※ Refunds following Declination of Registration
Those applicants who decline to register in the course for unavoidable reasons must tender a
cancellation of registration by March 31, 2016 (Thu.) in order to receive a refund of the
tuition.
Be sure to inform us prior to your application if you have disabilities so that we can provide
support while studying at the course.
III Obtaining a Residence Visa
1 Application Procedure of Obtaining a Visa
In order to stay in Japan as an international student, in principle you will be required to obtain
College Student visa. After the registration procedure is completed, Kansai University will act as
a representative in the application for a Certificate of Eligibility which is necessary to obtain the
College Student visa. As soon as the Certificate of Eligibility is issued, it will be sent to the
applicant with an Attendance Permission form. The applicant must immediately complete the
process to obtain a visa at a Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in the applicant’s home
country.
(1)Kansai University will not act as a representative to apply for any visa status other than
College Student.
(2)Be aware that delayed completion of the registration process may result in late delivery of
Certificate of Eligibility, which may hinder the applicant’s entering Japan.
(3)Kansai University will decide on the visa representative request based on the application. As
a result of the decision, the university may request the applicant to submit additional
documents to prove ability of financial support. The university will not respond to any

claims made about the final decision.
(4)The Certificate of Eligibility is granted by the Ministry of Justice; therefore, Kansai University
will not take any responsibility if the application is denied. The applicant is not allowed to
register for this program if the application is denied, since he/she will not be eligible to stay
in Japan legally. Moreover, enrollment at Kansai University with a Short Stay visa is not
permitted.
(5)Those applicants who have a history of being denied a Certificate of Eligibility for whatever
reason, will not be issued one unless the problem is resolved. If there is any history of being
denied a visa application, inform Kansai University before making the application.
IV Student Life
1 Accommodation
Kansai University International Dormitory is located 20 minutes away by bicycle from Senriyama
Campus where JLC takes place and the students are able to apply for the dormitory. In this
dormitory, Resident Assistants who are students at Kansai University will live in the dormitory to
support the daily life of international students.

□ All rooms are equipped with desk, chair, bed, closet, air conditioning and the
Internet (wired LAN.)
□ Resident Assistants who are students at Kansai University live in the dorm to
support the life of international students.
Dormitory Fee
Dormitory Entrance Fee: JPY15,000
Room Rent: JPY30,000 per month (This includes electricity, gas, water, bedding
and the Internet.)
※ Dormitory fee is subject to change.
Shared Facilities Multi-purpose Room, Shower Room, Toilet, Washing Room, Laundry (Washer and
Drier) and Kitchen
※ If the capacity becomes full, the students will be assigned to off-campus accommodation.
2 Living Expenses
The average living cost in Osaka is around at least JPY100,000 per month including rent. Make
sure to consider this when you budget for living costs in Japan.
3 Medical Care and Insurance
(1) Kansai University Medical Clinic
The University Medical Clinic is located on the main campus. There are physicians, nurses and
psychologists on duty to provide comprehensive care for students. There is also a
Psychological Counseling Room staffed by licensed clinical psychologists.
(2) National Health Insurance
All non-Japanese who will live more than 3 months in Japan, are required to enroll in the
National Health Insurance scheme. The annual insurance fee is about JPY25,000 in Suita City
where Kansai University is located. On receiving medical examinations, treatment, or getting a
prescription, the recipient only needs to pay 30% of the total cost as a partial charge of the
medical expense; 70% of the total cost will be covered by National Health Insurance.
