BOARD OF TRUSTEES

THURSDAY, J U N E 2 9 , 1967 - 5:00 P. M .
Pursuant to a notice of special Board M e e t i n g c a l l e d by the President of the
Board of Trustees, a copy of which is attached as an addendum to these Minutes and in
accordance w i t h Section 1.4.2 of the District Board Policies and Administrative
O r g a n i z a t i o n M a n u a l , a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Junior College
District of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri was held on Thursday, June 2 9 , 1967
at 5:00 p. m. at the Central O f f i c e of the District, 7508 Forsyth B l v d . , St. Louis,
Missouri.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Roll Call
The Board President, M r . Joseph G. Stewart, c a l l e d the meeting to order at
5:20 p. m.
The following members were present:

Board Members, Lester C. G e i l and Donald M . Witte were out of town and could
not be present.
Also present were Dr. Joseph P. Cosand, President; M r . John C. Robertson,
V i c e President for Business;
Dr. G l y n n E. Clark, V i c e President-Campus Director;
Dr. R. W i l l i a m Graham, V i c e President-Campus Director; Mrs. h*,~y Jane Calais,
Associate Coordinator, Business and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees; M r . Paul H.

M r . Stewart welcomed newspaper reporters, M r . Gus Lumpe c : fhe St. Louis
Globe-Democrat and M r . Frank Leeming, Jr. of the St. Louis Post-Despatch.
Dr. Clark introduced staff members from the Meramec Campus: .Mr. Walter
Hur.fer, Associate Dean of Instruction and ex o f f i c i o member of the Science Building
Co-^.-nittee representing M r . Robert M u r r a y , Chairman of this Building Committee who
win out of town; M r . Jules Biegelsen, Co-Chairman of the Social Science-Business
Buiiding Committee; Dr. Robert Donnelly, Associate Dean of Studerv -ersonnel Services,
representing the Administration Building Committee.
M r . O ' N e i l l introduced Mrs. A l i c e Loh, Engineering Architect, and a member
of The Junior College District sloff; Messrs. Eric Smith and Jack Harr-ay of the architectural
firrr.s of Smith and Entzeroth and Harry Weese and Associates, respectively.

Dr. R. William Graham infroduced M r . Howard Simmons, instructor at the Forest
Park Campus and recently elected President of the Forest Park Campus Faculty Association.

PHYSICAL FACILITIES
4. 1
Approval O f Preliminary Drawings - Final Phcse - Meramec Campus
M r . Eric Smith, of the architectural firm of Smith and Er.tzeroth, presented preliminary
drawings for the final phase at the Meramec Campus.
He explained that the bui Iding exteriors
planned for Phase II would be of matching brick and window details
construction.

The second phase plans include an Administration 3 u i l d i n g , Social Science-Business
Building, Science *3 and Science M Buildings.
Science Buildings *'3 and "4 are connected
by corridors which permit exchange of laboratory preparations from one building to another
without going outside.
The Science ^3 Building w i l l house laboratory f a c i l i t i e s , Department
of Nursing, and the Mathematics Department.
Science "4 Building w i l l house the Dental
Technology and Engineering-Architectural Departments.
The first floor of the Social Science-
Business Building w i l l house the History, Social Science,, and Law Enforcement Departments;
and the second floor w i l l provide facilities for the Business Education Department.
Whereupon, on motion by M r . Williamson, seconded by Mrs. Bastian, and with the
aye vote of all members of the Board present, it was
RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees does hereby approve preliminary drawings
for the Phase II construction at the Meramec Community College consisting of
Administration, Social Science-Business, Science ' 3 and Science M Buildings,
with the exception of the second floor of the Science *3 Bui i d i n g .
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the architect re-study the jpcce designed for the
Mathematics Department faculty offices on the second floor of the
Science ' 3 Building and revise the preliminary drawings for said facilities
to provide better student accessibility to the f a c u l t y , said revised drawings
to be ic-submitted to the Board for approval.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees does hereby authorize
the architectural firm of Smith & Entzeroth to proceed with the preparation
of working drawings for Phase II at the Meramec Community College w i t h
the exception of that portion of the Science *3 Building previously mentioned.
4.2
Working Drawings For Student Center and Lecture Hall - FPCC
The working drawings for the Student Center and Lecture Hail at the Forest Park
Campus were not completed for presentation to the Board at this meeting.
M r . Ruffin was excused from the meeting at 6:30 p . m .

ADJOURNMENT
The above items completing the agenda so set forth for this specially c a l l e d
meeting of the Board,
before the Board.

There being no further business to be discussed, upon motion duly
made and seconded, this meeting was adjourned at 6:31 p. m.
