(Creating an Outlook .PST/ Closing an Outlook .PST file)
A pst. is a Personal Folder that is in your Outlook to store emails on the hard drive on your computer. These
files help to free up space from your personal email quota. These files are only accessible on campus or via the
VPN from off campus.
In Outlook, Click the file tab.
Click Account Settings, then Account Settings.
Click the Data Files tab. Click Add for a new file. If you want to add an existing pst. just highlight and Add.
When you click Add to set up a new pst. you will be prompted to name your pst and set the location. Data
files are usually saved in Documents/Outlook Files. Here the pst. is name Test.
Close Account Settings window.
Your pst. file will be listed at the bottom of your email folders on the left. You can create new folders under
your pst. and move emails out of your account to the pst to free up space in your email.
To Close the folder file on the left, right click on the name of the pst file and choose Close.
