Gateway to College 1. What is Gateway to College (GTC)? Program Requirements Be 16-20 years old Have attended a partnering school district Complete the application process and attend an information session Possess reading skills at an 8th grade level or higher Have 17 or fewer high school credits Demonstrate the desire and determination to learn and to earn a high school diploma The GTC program is a unique alternative education opportunity which allows students to: Earn a high school diploma through St. Louis Community College Receive college credits toward an associate’s degree Work towards their college goals by selecting a career-focused pathway 2. GTC is an educational alternative for students who have dropped out, are at risk of dropping out, or need an alternative environment to achieve success 3. GTC is funded in part by partnering school districts. The program is tuition free and books are paid for by GTC. Students are responsible for transportation and food only. 4. What’s in it for you? It’s all about education. In today’s global economy, more than 80% of the fastest-growing jobs require education or training beyond high school.
