Minutes of the CSBS Senate Meeting on 3/5/12 Present: Otto MacLin (Chair, Psychology), Tim Strauss (Geography), Carol Weisenberger (History), Taifa Yu (Political Science), Cyndi Dunn (SAC), Elaine Eshbaugh (SAHS), Jim McCullagh (Social Work), Brenda Bass (Associate Dean) I. Approval of the minutes from 1/30/12 The minutes from 1/30/12 were approved with no changes. II. Report on Active Scholar Committee The faculty committee charged with proposing revisions to the 4-4 teaching policy has met and submitted their final report. The committee has been disbanded and has not heard back from the Academic Affairs Council. According to Associate Dean Bass, department heads have received a slightly revised set of criteria to be used for fall 2012. Later this spring, the AAC intends to review the 4-4 teaching policy and may adopt revised criteria for “active scholarship” which would go into effect for spring 2013. The AAC may or may not choose to adopt the recommendations from the Active Scholar Committee. III. Proposed Program Cuts The Senate went into an executive session to discuss responses to the proposed cuts to academic programs. IV. Other Business The Senate voted that for future meetings the “Comments from the Dean” will be moved to the start of the agenda, immediately following the approval of the minutes.
