The Baton Rouge Community College Police Department is providing this notice of a criminal incident that occurred at our BRCC Mid-City
Campus in order to provide information that may help to avoid a similar crime or provide information to solve this crime. This notice is also
intended to meet the requirements of the “Timely Notice” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and
Campus Crime Statistic Act of 1998.
SIMPLE BATTERY
DATE & TIME OF OCCURRENCE: May 9, 2014 7:01 PM
LOCATION: BRCC Mid-City Campus (Cypress Building- Lab 219)
REPORTED OFFENSE: The suspect reportedly inappropriately touched a BRCC female student in the Cypress
Building.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Black Male, 6'3"tall, 260 pounds, 29 years old, brown eyes, hair-long
black dreadlocks.
SUSPECT ARRESTED: At approximately 7:03 PM, Eric D. Stewart was issued a misdemeanor summons for
violating LRS 14:35 and released. The suspect was ordered not to return to campus. Please notify the BRCC Police
Department if you observe this subject on Campus.

BRCC POLICE URGE ALL MEMBERS OF THE BRCC COMMUNITY TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST CRIME
Remain vigilant and be aware of your surroundings.
Always walk on busy streets- Avoid walking alone, especially at night.
Report any suspicious or criminal activity, persons or vehicles to police as soon as possible.
Utilize emergency equipment, such as the red phones and call boxes, throughout the campus for immediate assistance.
If you work alone or before/after normal business hours, keep the office door locked.
If you work late, try to find another worker or call for a security escort when exiting the building.
Be aware of escape routes for emergencies, and post phone numbers of the campus police near telephones.
Avoid using cell phones or MP3 players while walking – Suspects target phones and other items in plain view.
Do not carry expensive purses or bags. Conceal them inside of a larger bag.
If you observe a crime in progress, STAY CALM AND CALL BRCC Police (225) 216-8888.
BE A GOOD WITNESS. Describe exactly what you observed with as many details as possible. Give complete descriptions such as sex, race, age, height, weight,
hair color, clothing, tattoos, and scars. Try to get the license plate if a vehicle is involved.
