Continuous Improvement TheConstructionManagementProgram(CMGT)atBatonRougeCommunityCollege(BRCC)is engagedincontinuousqualityimprovementguidedbytheCMGTprogramandtheCollege.The programstrivestopreparestudentsforconstructionindustrycareersguidedbytheadviceofthe CMGTAdvisoryCouncilandlocalemployers. Goals and Objectives Theprogram’sgoalsandobjectiveshavebeenestablishedwithassociatedassessmenttoolsthatare usedtoprovideguidanceforprogramimprovement.Theyareasfollows: ItemorActivity MeasuresofSuccess AccreditationbyAmerican CouncilofConstruction Education(ACCE) Accreditation RetainedStudents Studentretention measures AssessmentResults asofFebruary,2015 InitialAccreditationsitevisitis scheduledforMarch,2016. Accreditationapprovalresultswill beavailableJuly,2016.Comments receivedfromthesitevisitand accreditationapprovalprocesswill guideprogramimprovement actions. Studentretentionratesremaina concern.Enhancedadvisingefforts, CMGTClubpromotion,and SupplementalInstruction(SI) sessionshavebeenimplementedto assiststudentswithacademic issues.Studentsemployedfull-time haverequestedmoreafternoonand eveningclassofferingsofcoursesat the200levelandwehave addressedthisbychangingcourse schedulesforSpringandFall2016 semesters. Additionally,studentshavemoved toLSU’sCMprogrampriorto receivingtheASDegreesfrom BRCC.Wehaverecentlybeen informedthatdataistobemade availableastothenumberof studentsthatchoosethispath.We arealsoexploringthepossibilityof ‘reversetransfer’degreestogrant thesestudentsASdegreesfrom GraduationRates StudentEmployment EmployerSurveys Five–YearAlumniSurvey CourseOutcomes Assessments BRCCiftheycompletethe requirementsoftheBSdegreein CMfromLSU. Graduationheadcountshave increasedfromtheinitialnumberof 13forthe2010-2011yearto28for Graduationheadcount the2014-2015academicyear.We anticipatethisratewillremain steadyorimprovewitheffortsto improveretentionasnotedabove. Localemployersaresupportiveof BRCCCMGTstudents.Asthe programmatures,moreemployers aremadeawareoftheprogramas Localemployerssupport thestudentsworkinginindustry hiringBRCCCMGT haveproventobehardworkingand studentsforpart-timeand knowledgeableasevidencedin full-timeemployment employersurveys.Studentexit opportunities surveysindicateahighemployment rateforstudentswhowillcontinue theireducationandworkpart-time aswellasthosewhohavesecured full-timeemployment. Surveysconductedforstudents duringinternshipshavebeen positive.Surveysforgraduates havebeendifficulttoobtainand effortstoincreaseparticipationare beingimplementedforthe20152016graduatingclass.Several Ratingsof‘Exceedsor employershavehiredmultiple MeetsExpectations’ students.Currently,employment inquiries(part-time/internshipsand full-time)exceedthenumberof studentsavailableforemployment. Ratingsthatfallbelow‘meetsor exceedsexpectations’and commentsareusedtoimprove coursecontentanddelivery. Thefirstgraduatingclasswillreach thefiveyearmarkthisMay.We willimplementaprocesstosurvey Implementationprocessis thesestudentsbeginningwiththis indevelopment firstclassandusetheresultsofthe annualsurveyforprogram improvement. Varioussurveytoolswith Coursesareassessedonceper scores70%andabove academicyearbytheinstructors ProgramEvaluation FacultyEvaluations FacultyProfessional Development StudentCourseEvaluations teachingthecourses.Assessment toolsaredesignedtobroadlyassess courseLearningOutcomes.Most assessmentsmeettheminimum scoreof70%scorewiththe majorityinthe80-90%range. Assessmenttoolswillbereviewed andrevisedtomeetnewACCE outcomesbasedstandardsduring the2016-2017academicyear Themostrecentprogramreview wascompletedintheSpring2014 semesteraspartofacollegewide initiativeforallprograms.Thedata providedbyInstitutionalResearch (IR)wasusedtocompletethe review.Thedataprovidedwasnot accurateinsomeoftheareasbut ProgramReviews overalltheprogramisshowntobe completed improvinginstudentsuccess (gradesandgraduation). Commentsmadeduringthisreview resultedinseveralchanges:new facultywereaddedandprogram outcomeswererevised.Thecollege iscurrentlyimplementing assessmentguidelinesforindividual coursesandprograms. Allfaculty,bothfull-timeand Facultyevaluationsthat adjuncts,areevaluatedpercollege resultinratingsofmeetor guidelines.Ratingsofmeetor exceedexpectations exceedhavebeenreceivedonall faculty. Allfacultyarerequiredtomeeta minimumrequirementof professionaldevelopmentactivities foreachacademicyear.Examples Facultymeetorexceed ofrecentactivitiesincludecollege recommended offeringsforactivelearningand professionaldevelopment safetytrainingsessionsforthe hours CMGT103faculty.Plansforfuture developmentcoursesinclude estimatingsoftware,BIMsoftware, andAutoCADsoftware. Studentparticipationin Eachcourseissubjecttotheonline evaluationsthatinclude studentevaluationprocess, commentsforthecourse studentsareencouragedto andinstructors participate.Resultsareusedto StudentActivitiesand Achievement AdvisoryCouncil CareerFairs improvecoursecontentand deliveryofmaterialintheindividual courses.Also,someinstructors administercoursespecific evaluationstosolicitspecificcourse feedbackwhichisusedtoimprove thecourse. Studentsareinvitedtoparticipate inthegeneralcareerfairsponsored bytheBRCCCareerServices departmenteachsemester.The CMGTprogramorganizedthefirst annualnetworkingeventinthe Spring2015semestertobring Numberofcompaniesand constructionindustryemployers studentsparticipating andstudentstogethertopromote theprogramtoemployersandto allowstudentstheopportunityto explorecareeroptionsandcurrent opportunities.Theeventwasa successandwillberepeatedlate Spring2016orwillmovetoafall offeringbeginninginFall2016.
