RESPONSIBLE TO: Dean of Occupational Programs MONTHS PER YEAR: 12 HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt UPDATE: 1/20/2016 CREDENTIALS/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of: Bachelor’s Degree with two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Instructional experience preferred. Understanding of operational concepts associated with Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Understanding of sales, merchandizing, communication skills and professional development skills associated with a Harley-Davidson dealership. Interest in and ability to develop and maintain a program and curriculum utilizing the latest technology. An ability to relate and advise students. An ability to organize, promote, and encourage student participation in SKILLS USA. Good written and verbal communication skills Good organizational and time management skills Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, professional organizations, students and the public. JOB PURPOSE: Prepare and educate students in the areas of mechanics, retail sales, fashion merchandising, business and finance, retail management, and soft skills, for the Harley-Davidson Industry. Oversee the instructional and physical operations of the Harley-Davidson program. Prepare and follow a long-range sustainable strategic plan for the program. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSILBITIES: Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved course outlines, including updating of course syllabi. Coordinate instructional delivery and program activities with other H-D faculty and staff. Advise and enroll students interested in the H-D program. Ensure all required student grade reports are on time to the Registrars office. Address all student problems in need of special consideration and notify Dean of Occupational Programs or the appropriate Dean as warranted. Attend all faculty meetings, division meetings, committee meetings and other official meetings called by the college administration. Attend as many college functions as possible Be a good public relations agent, both in the classroom and in the community. Serve as the major recruiter of students for the program. Maintain office hours as posted for student advisement and assessment. Oversee the physical plant, tools, equipment, instructional materials used in the program. Organize and maintain an active SKILLS chapter. Participate in professional development activities. Maintain a positive relationship and correspond program updates with program advisory board and Harley-Davidson. Maintain Perkins eligibility and ensure all requirements including assessment are maintained in a timely manner. Keep an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all equipment and Learning aids (including but not limited to serial numbers of all motors and motorcycles). Work with high schools to promote and engage high school students in Harley-Davidson classes.
