The Catalystworkshop Harness your team’s collective capability to achieve great results – fast! cat·a·lyst: an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action Audit | Tax | Advisory | Financial Advice Smart Leaders realise culture is the difference If you lead a team or department or have responsibility for cultural efforts at a corporate level you should attend this workshop From experience, most managers now know that culture matters and that they need to create or improve the culture in their business or team. But very few know how to put into words what they are looking for, let alone gain the “buy in” from their team required for culture change to be successful. The Catalystworkshop is a 1 day workshop that introduces you to a simple yet powerful process and set of skills that will give you the confidence to help your team transition to a more positive and productive team culture and improve your performance as a leader in the process. In particular, you will learn: ■■ What a High Performing team culture looks and feels like (Yoga and having dogs at work are perks, not culture) ■■ Why some leaders gain buy in (and why some don’t) ■■ What you can do to develop your own unique high performing culture ■■ How to do it exactly! “People will own what they help create. Your team will not want to go back to blaming and making excuses, hesitating or holding back, gossiping and sub optimal effort that many workplace cultures can degenerate into.” www.crowehorwath.com.au The Catalystworkshop approach is simple and practical Apply the right process Draw on the right skills Create the right environment High performing team assessment Mind mapping Active listening People reading Functional team dynamics Individual commitment to action www.crowehorwath.com.au The Process In the first half of the workshop you will be taken through the key steps of a simple yet powerful process to work through with your team to help them rapidly understand the “truth about us as a team” and whether the culture in the team simply needs a boost, or in some cases, an extreme makeover to ensure you get the improved results you want. In summary, the process includes: ■■ Conducting a fast but effective “audit” of your current culture ■■ Defining the “core personality” of your desired culture ■■ Identifying the non-negotiable “vital” behaviours that will ensure success in the critical moments ■■ Applying the “four actions framework” to help embed your new culture and bring the new behaviours to life. ■■ Identifying the “critical moments” that determine success or failure for your team “I have been to, and delivered many presentations over the years, however I was incredibly impressed with the content and the delivery of this presentation. It cut right to the core of the issues facing so many businesses. It was simply brilliant. On the surface, the simplicity unmasks the complexity of the issues facing leaders and our teams. The clarity it has provided me in asking the questions of my team has been so refreshing.” Tim Saunders, Managing Director, Saunders Property Group www.crowehorwath.com.au The Skills & Environment The collective intelligence of a team is a powerful resource that is rarely tapped into effectively. Quality facilitation can make a great deal of difference to the experience, outcomes and potential of our workplace endeavours like improving the culture. In the second half of the workshop you will learn facilitation skills to ensure the process is effective and you generate ownership of the new culture amongst the team and effective action. Furthermore, gaining these simple but powerful tools and techniques in facilitation will also help you increase your credibility, improve your communication, and effectively manage expectations in other components of your role. In summary, you will learn how to effectively: ■■ “Mine” the collective knowledge of a group ■■ Reach a consensus on the best way forward It is important to recognise that members of your team will enter this discussion about “their” culture in different mental states. So you will need the following skills sets and an understanding of the environments that support constructive group dynamics: ■■ How to set the scene. The environment people interact in has a significant impact on the quality of dialogue. It is important therefore to know the appropriate room set up and how to set appropriate expectations with the team which allows people to break down barriers to constructive conversations and achieves the maximum input from the group. ■■ How to map ideas/thoughts to capture the essence of powerful conversations and not hinder the flow. The resulting map shows not only the facts but also the relationships and threads from where they came. ■■ How to actively listen for insights to help the team discover their real needs, gain the team’s confidence, and make sure the whole group benefits from the exercise and the collective knowledge in the team. ■■ How to read people and make it safe for them to engage freely in the dialogue. People have different interacting styles and in order to create a “level” playing field you need to be able to read people’s styles as well as your own. This means understanding and monitoring your communication style and applying strategies for working with different communication styles. “It may take a long time for a manager to influence a person, but once a collective culture is established it can change people in a hurry.” www.crowehorwath.com.au Additional Information Workshop facilitator Craig is a highly experienced facilitator first and trainer second.
